Colts aren't significantly better than other ARs but they do tend to hold their value better than Bushmaster, Rock River and Stag.
True "Top Tier" guns are made by the likes of LMT, Daniel Defense, JP, POF, Knights Armament, Noveske, LWRC, LaRue ... of course those cost a bit more and most are ordered as custom guns.
Full discloser: my current AR is a DPMS and its worked fine for me ... of course if I ever sell it I probably won't break even on it (let alone make a profit on it).
