Who cares, helmet, no helmet, safety gear or not. Unless you know the road, have a clear field of vision and hopefully some room to pass, back off the throttle. When i passed in the canyon, there was plenty of room and i rode mc's capable of responding when i twisted the wick. No they were not crotch rockets and no i did not wear a helmet.

Gear or not, people pull in front of, turn left or NEVER SAW the MC. Would wearing a helmet have saved them maybe maybe not. I do find it pathetic when a rider is killed the media emphasizes how the rider was not wearing a helmet.
Let's completely toss out the fact the MC HELMETLESS RIDER was hit by a drunk doing 75 in a 30 @ 3am wrong side of the road and no lights. Yep that helmet would have made a difference.

Same for a gun used in a crime, Assault Weapon, High Capacity, Not for anything other than killing etc.

In this case the guy fucked up and paid for it, condolences to all.
