Seriously? Thanks for the replies that answered the topic. No one forced you to open this thread. If you're so paranoid you think I'm some how going to track down your address and target you because "now I know where your guns are!" Maybe you need to relax a little bit and have a beer.... or move to a safer neighborhood. I'm well aware of violent crime... spent 27 years in the great <sarcasm> city of Chicago where I was robbed 4 times both at gun and knife point. This is a thread about sharing ideas and what works for you. DavieD55, that is exactly what I was looking to make, but underneath the bed skirt. My wife sleeps on the side of the bed that faces the wall, so even if it was exposed like that there is no reason anyone other than us should see it.

I have a 2.5yr old son, a ninja master could not get through the house in the middle of the night in the minefield he leaves without waking half the town or breaking an ankle. Plenty of time to open the safe, choose a weapon, have coffee, read the paper, and oh yeah, shoot bad guy.

I can't think of what they're called, but that's a commercial product made to fit between the mattress and box springs, and hang a shotgun on. Then the comforter covers it up. Basically flat steel straps with hanger hooks on the ends, connected together with another strap across the back, and coated with something to not scratch your gun. A guy could make something similar very easily.

Found it - called The Back Up. They make them for pistols too. My wife would shit down both legs if I put one on our bed. But she lives in a Condition White world.

Dogs are awesome and a great part of a home security plan.

I have a 2 year old now so the pistol goes into the small safe in the bedroom. I want to get the shot vault for the HD shotgun

I have a 70lb pitbull... you could probably smash a semi through the front door and he would sleep through it Great for intimidation, but more bark then bite.
