So to all the pro firarm on aircraft guys answer me this.

What good is your gun going to do you when you are seated in row 44 (window seat) and a terrorist and buddies with guns are sitting in row 1? He will be in the cockpit and have control of the aircraft before you can even crawl over the fat lady next to you to get out of your seat.

Also who's to say the guy next to you is as competant gun handler as you? What if he adjusts his gun and has a accidental dischage that goes right through the planes hydraulics?

FYI, I travel alot and have for the past 30 years. I'm okay not having firearms on the aircraft period.

Cant get into the cockpit, they have locked and armored door. Even so, at least I am responsible for my safety, not relying on the "vigilance" of others, especially the TSA, who should be fired and the entire organization disbanded.

Really? Yanno they allowed guns on planes for many many years and shockingly none of them fell out of the air because of a wayward shot from a passenger. Maybe not watch as many movies?

Suppose the guy in the lane next to me on the highway has bald spots in his tires and veers into my lane and sends me over the river and through the woods into a lake? I choose not to live in fear.

Well you are welcome to that opinion, as I am welcome to the opinion that anytime I am not responsible for my safety its a bad thing.

So you feel would feel safer on a aircraft where you and bad guys have guns more so then a aircraft where NO ONE had guns? Good luck with that. Any group of 10 terrorist could just walk right on packing there guns just like you. Good ol'e western shootout on the plane.

I'm not even going to worry about it because guns will never be allowed on planes (for the general public)

I don't know how old you are but, NEWSFLASH! I recall flying several times in the 60s and seeing more than one person bring a rifle case on board the plane. No telling how many had handguns since you weren't required to go through security. Funny thing...I never saw a shootout on a plane.

Your comments remind me of the liberals saying if people have concealed carry permits there's gonna be shootouts over parking spaces and the streets will run red with blood.

I'm almost 50... and NEWSFLASH. Times have changed. We are not in the 60's anymore. I am all for conceal carry and I do myself. But to let every swinging dick on a plane with a gun in these days is not a good idea. IMO.

Yeah, it's not the 60s. But there could easily be a way to pre-screen qualified people with permits to carry. Similar to the pre-screening they do to get through the security lines quicker. To make a blanket statement that there would be " western shootouts" on the plane is simply ridiculous. It could be done. We, as a society, just don't have the balls to implement it because, God forbid we allow people to be responsible for their own safety.

And if "terrorists" were so apt to shoot up a plane, why aren't they doing it all over the country now with much softer, more accessible targets? I think your analysis is flawed.

Now I agree with you 100%! Dwalker is talking about letting everyone just walk on a plane with a gun no questions asked. THATS what I disagree with. Permitted/Qualified carry on a plane I'm all for.

So my scenerio is I do mostly internatioanl travel so a gun is out of the question even if it was permited in the US. So for the US portion of my flight everyone else could be armed but I could not because I am continuing on overseas. That is why I say no to all. I would be at a disadvantage
