Well against better judgement I'm going to hit the show Saturday morning. Just kind of looking around, perhaps something will catch my eye. That happened to me last time I went in February-got a good deal on a limited model S&W 686 2.5" Lew Horton (from Nov. '84) with the original box/papers, factory original Combat grips along with an extra set of Pach grips.

Got there just after 10, met a guy in the parking lot I sold some of my old motorcycle gear to first. Not a big deal to get a parking spot (north side, when did they put in the drive-in movie screen??!!). No line to get in, stopped by a friend's table, shot the shit for 20 minutes then started wandering.

Good sized crowd though it was easy going up and down the aisles.

I've renewed my interest in S&W wheelies so that's what I mostly was on the lookout for. Met one very nice guy that had a few older Smiths that I appreciated, hope to do business with him next show-it's the only place he sells.

Outside of two guys walking down one aisle that smelled like breweries I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of the great unwashed and thug looking types there.

Mostly plastic fantastic uber tacticool stuff (no surprise frankly), though nothing that really jumped up and yelled for me to take it home.

As far as safes there was one dealer of I think Liberty safes along the north wall. Nice selection though I didn't really look at prices since I'm not in the market.

Overall not a bad way to stay out of the mid-day heat today, my big purchase was a box of .38spl ammo from a friend that gave me a killer deal.

Had a relative in town so we went to get out of the house.
* Listened to a lot of gun related BS/stories from sellers and those walking around.
* Found a box of Winchester .357 SIG for $10.
* Was curious as to why every fourth table was selling NIB Henry rifles.

Might as well go to Cabela's. IMHO Prices are the same. What happened to the great gun shows of the past where the prices were a little more"flea market"? 8 bucks to get in, then high prices on ammo AND guns, the BG check, crowds, dudes that don't take a bath, no parking, etc., the heck with it. Don't cost me 8 bucks to get in Sportsman's Warehouse and I can get the same prices there without the other baloney.

Bag on Tanner all you want, and I'll be right there with you, but I've enjoyed the Pueblo version just about every time I've gone.

Crowd is different than Denver, and size is just about right, IMHO.

I like the layout there. We travel to the P Tanner a couple times most years. It's a decent day trip from the metro area, and nowhere near as congested. At the very least, it gets us out of the metro area, and I've probably spent more there than at Denver Tanner in the last 3 years.

Besides, visiting Pueblo is an adventure unto itself.

I was at the Tanner Sat around noon. Bought two old holsters, a Bucheimer Semi Shoulder for my 2" M&P K frame and a European belt flap for my Walther PP. I was looking for Apex Gun parts and couldn't find them anywhere. I went to the front desk and asked about Apex he said nothing like that in the computer, so I left. Richard you need better signage and let the people that run the place know where you are.

I keep hearing about all the people from here that go to the show but I never find anyone. I think the next show I'll make one of those signs that people hang on there guns to sell as they walk through. It will read "From COAR15 and Lost, Please Help"

I used to go to the Tanner show frequently before they raised the price of admission. Mostly just to look around. Hardly ever spent money there. Couldn't tell you how many times I walked around with a thousand dollars in my pocket and didn't buy a thing. I did find a nice Ruger RedHawk in 41 mag once that was tempting. Couldn't quite get to the price I wanted that day. I told the guy if he still had it at the next show I might go ahead and buy it anyways. Went to the next show and that guy wasn't there and haven't seen him since.

What ever you do don't go to the Tanner. I was there for about 35 minutes driving up and down isle after isle in a parade of cars looking for parking. I drove to every business surrounding the Mart as well, nothing, just hoards of people going to the Tanner and the Christmas show. Oh well, four of us, the girls were going to the Christmas show and the guys were going to the Tanner. They don't get a dime from us because we left. Can't imagine why these are scheduled at the same time, I bet next week end the place will be empty.

As a dealer I asked the same question to the Tanner management. It appears that the Mart does the scheduling and the mart does this every year. I think I am NOT going to setup at the Nov show next year if the Christmas show is scheduled the same weekend again. many times there were more vendors than there were customers walking around.

With the donkeys out of the picture, why not. IMO this is merely a snippet of what's happening across the country. When vendors like PSA, DSArms etc. have more OOS, then inventory.

However it was from a dealer, marked as a consignment piece and he wouldn't budge on the price of $995 (no box etc) + fees.

I bought a wallet for $20 and some cashews from the Mountain Man guy, that was it lol (good thing I got in for free). Talked to a few old friends I hadn't seen in a while and got set up for a pass for the Collectors show in a few weeks.

Not a horrible way to spend some time on a day with crappy weather.

I saw that one too, nice 29-2. They wanted $995 with no box or papers?!?!?; That is too much.

Went with the boy today and it was actually a pretty good time (for once in a long time) not as busy as the last time and found a decent deal on some Morgan dollars and .223 bullets. I noticed a head shop table that was a first but I haven't been in a while so I'm not sure if that's new... But I did see a lot more small knife makers there and they had some nice looking pieces.

Saw him also. I slowed my walk as I passed, as my brain was processing, he asks "you smoke?" I said "No, I don't." He says, "Well it's time to start." He may have had the best of who knows what intentions, but that really pissed me off. I hope my glare revealed my sentiments. Opinions vary, but I don't feel it has a place at a gun show.

I agree pot/alcohol and guns aren't a good mixture do what you want but have a little common sense mixing something that lowers your judgement and a firearm. I should also mention I really enjoy seeing the respect shown during the national anthem the show literally stops and pays 100 % attention that was my favorite part of going.

More "buyers" than the past today. Seemed most we were dealing with were buying their first gun. Most of those were for the wife, parents, daughters. Not the normal "I'm buying this for my wife" crap. All parties were present and trying things out. Got the sense this may be the run-up to the election.

We only have 5 BM59 kits remaining in stock and have sold out of the magazines.

I went this morning. Mostly to walk around and browse. Plenty of parking and not really crowded. Figured it would be that way with the Broncos playing at 11 this morning.

I did overhear a vendor on the phone with someone from yesterday telling them their background check went through.

Used my usual strategy and stuck $500 in my pocket. Seems every time I go there with money I never find anything to buy.

I went Saturday, made my usual trek around the place looking for the always illusive APEX Gun Parts booth. Never found it as usual and as usual I asked at the front desk and no one knows who they are or where they have a booth. It seems to me that if somebody was going to set up a booth and if they were trying to drum up business maybe they would have a sign and maybe they would use their business name to register, but that’s just me being silly. I still feel good for having tried, gives me something to look for at every Tanner show, I have confidence one year I will find it. In they mean time there is about five things I will just order from the web site.

I had STEN Mark 2 kits and bayonets plus a lot of military slings.
With the live inventory of the new web site it is not like before where we can just take material from the warehouse and then bring back what didn't sell.
I did hand out a bunch of business cards to people needing Mosin parts, etc so they can order off the web site.

The same people have been pimping the same over priced (oops) RARE & COLLECTIBLE shit for decades. Outside of their tables being moved around it's the same people. Like Mick (or did his kid take over) and his $60 Glock or M1A mags. Gentlescam Dave (or is he now a reverend?) The father, son team with 20rd COLT and Universal mags with post 94 price tags and display glass that hasn't been cleaned since it rolled off the factory floor.

The 2 guys with mismatched number bring back mausers still asking $600+ BECAUSE they're bring backs. Even though they've been sporterized to shit. Semi decent monte carlo stock with sideways sling swivel, stripped out scope holes, crown that's seen more use as a door opener than the range.

Yeah the usual suspects. It's been years since i attended however if not these guys specifically, Some crew who could be their doubles.

There's some deals and good vendors who price their products fairly.

It was stuck in with some used regular modern pistols and so I ALMOST missed it!

Bumping! Tanner this weekend.

My Wife and I were set up at the TANNER show this past weekend.
OK day on Saturday, Sunday was not good, overall attendance looked lower.
I saw some good buys on all sorts of stuff!
I made a great purchase of a Model 103 High Standard Sport King in excellent condition, it was even clean!
Those old HS pistols have such nice triggers.
Its a definite keeper, I owned a HS Dura-matic back during High School and this is nicer than that gun.
A friend bought an original COLT AR15 scope for $200, and I saw one of the later compact EO-Tech scopes sell for that same price.

I went Saturday and Sunday.

It was crazy crowded on Saturday and I'm getting over some surgery so I wasn't feeling good and left before making it through everything.

Decided to go back Sunday and finish browsing but couldn't find any good deals.

As usual, I went with cash and went home without spending anything.

Any treasures show up this show?

Yes, I saw a few things that got snapped up right as the show opened!
The table next to me also had a really nice selection of Japanese firearms.
The Gent was helping a widow sell off her husbands WWII collection, and since he was a Marine vet most of it was Japanese.
You don't see many Type II takedown paratroop rifles for $1300!
The selection of Type 99's (with Mums) was good and 1 Type 38 carbine.
There were also some cool swords and issued knives & machetes.
Another table had a sweet Swede Type 38, dated 1941.
Saw a Romanian WUM-1, very well priced.
I saw some interesting guns walk in too.

I have Knob Creek coming up so didn't buy anything.

I heard someone discussing a company that does custom molded ear protection at tanner in pueblo. Anyone know if these are good? Cost? Ultimately, the question is is there a benefit to having these made at tanner with gunshow admission? (Because honestly, there's certainly no real reason to go for any thing else)

Is it also at the denver tanner shows?

There's a vendor doing this at the Denver Tanner. Been there for a few years. I would guess it's the same guy. Don't know if it's worth it but he seems to do good business with it.

I purchased mine in 2006 and still use them. I wash them with soap and water most times after use and they are holding up just fine. I'll definitely buy another paid after I wear my current ones out. They were like $45 back then but the website quotes $65 a pair.

I think the seller will be back at the next TANNER.
I do not know if the same guns will be displayed.
I thought about that Type II quite a bit, but wanted funds for Knob Creek.
Good thing I held onto my money, as I needed it.

I had a pair made when I went in for a hearing checkup through my health insurance. It was a long time ago but I remember paying the copay and that was it. Might be worth looking into.

I just had some done by this company. They came highly recommended from another forum and a few buddies. Really nice hearing protection and nice people. Fast turnaround. https://earinc.com

If anyone is going to the tanner show in Denver tomorrow, I have a request. The last time I went, I vaguely remember a vendor set up near the middle in one of the two or three rows farthest from the door that had a few older Troy rails on his table. I can't remember the name or contact info for them, but I am looking for one of the older TROY TRX Extreme rails, the longer the better. If you happen to see them, please make note of their name/contact info. I won't be going to the show but would really appreciate the information. Or another lead on one of those rails. I really don't want to change out the barrel nut on this rifle but would like to be able to swap between the current rail that uses the TRX attachement and one of the "Extreme" rails as well.
Thanks and enjoy the show[Beer],

Picked up 500 rounds of American Eagle .45acp 230gr fmj for $160, was happy with that. Sold my 1911 grips and Benchmade Griptilian, that made the ammo $40 woohoo. A friend was selling small safes, said things started out slow but picked up Saturday afternoon, not sure how today went. Another friend sold off a few handguns but ending up buying a couple more so I think he's breaking even-he sets up at all the shows, repeated how slow it was compared to others.

I havrn't been to one of these since probably 2005. Some years before that I would buy cans of ammo for decent prices. The internet has certainly changed things.

I'm sure my almost 7 year old son would LOVE to go to the gun show.

Update: Took my kids today. Show is definitely bigger than 12 years ago. I saw a few tables with some pistols priced 15% above what they can be found for online. Ammo prices very high across the board. Lots of ar15s for sale, none of those under 530usd.

Will have some new Blackhawk .50 cal ammo cans for sale at $12 each cash only. I will only be there on Saturday only. These are "mil spec". Walmart sells them for a little over $18. Will be just behind the first set of restrooms, one row ahead of Dad's.

I held the bullet today from the most recent shooting. It was found in a nearby vendor's stuff well after the fact.

Said vendor notified the Adams County Sheriff's office of his find. Said he hadn't yet heard back from them.

Talked to someone that was involved in the first response. He said if he hadn't shown up with his IFAK and a CAT for a medic that was nearby and first to treat, they guy might have bled out. CAT, clot, and Israeli bandage managed the wound until the bus arrived. Said the bullet blasted his tibia and a huge chunk of calf out.

I carry one of those israeli quick clot sponges in the first aid kit in my car. It wouldn't help much in that case though as it might not help the guy. I think I saw some of those on the end of one row at the last show I went to.

New Security at the TANNER show... they all look like DoD security contractors!
You get stopped and screened at the dealer entrance.
I was in the line that ran out of badges and the delay there led to a 45 minute wait for a hand cart to bring in our goods.
I saw what was happening and walked out .. wife dragged me back in .. I was really hoping to get to the Air Show in Colorado Springs this weekend.
So, some stuff (on my side of the tables) will be priced to really move, don't hesitate to make an offer!
