If it is not printed on the road side, it is not valid. It could be a out of service sign sitting like that.

doesn't excuse the tire on the curb^This is why the picture qualifies for this thread.
I know the sign doesn't matter. I parked next to a turned around no parking sign on the same street.

CA plates. He's exempt from parking rules.
This is from my friend, who is in a wheelchair, trying to get into his van (looks like McGuckins parking lot). He'd been stuck for 35 minutes, unable to leave, when he posted this on FB. Wish I was around with my truck.

that sucks^ he should ask anyone around to jump in and move the van for him.
I had to move a van with handicapped controls once. It was an awkward experience doing the gas and brakes with the hand controls.
Gee. I hope his chair didn't scratch that guys car.
That was mentioned. He's too impaired to defend himself and was seriously worried he'd be attacked by the angry owner. He can drive and get around with assisted technology. But a handgun isn't an option. Muscular dystrophy sucks.

I loved writing tickets for handicapped parking violations. That shit pissed me off when I was working the street. A few times I was able to get a tow on scene before the owner came out. I always enjoyed watching the person pay the tow driver to NOT tow the car. Then get a ticket on top of that. I don't know why but seeing that pushed ALL my buttons.

So, loaned my truck to someone I'm intimate with so I could take her vehicle and get the oil changed for her. When I was done I took her vehicle to her at work and swapped her vehicles. Here's how she had my truck parked when I got there.

The funny part is I have no idea if she just swung into the spot all honey badger style and just got out and went inside or if she tried several times to put it in the spot and that was just the best she could do. And, no... I'm not going to ask her.

I thought it might be as well, but they sell propane tanks so more likely regular convenience store. I once handled a claim where a guy was drunk at home, hopped into his car to restock at the liquor store, and crashed through the liquor store front window. The liquor store was ONE block from his house. He pulled out of his driveway, drove a block (straight) stopped at a stop sign, then crossed a main street (think like Colfax) directly into the parking lot of the liquor store. Except for pulling out of the driveway, there would have been zero turning from his house to the parking space at the liquor store. I really, really wanted to ask him why he didn't just walk, but then again, he was so drunk that he couldn't manage a few yards of straight driving without wrecking, so I'm sure he thought driving would be a fine idea.
Insurance question for ya Irving. I don't know if you have had any exposure to the auto side of things, but here goes.
If a regular guy pulling a camper with his 3/4T truck, that may or may not have been modified to haul more (doesn't matter per the door sticker GVWR) gets in a wreck, is anyone gonna check his weights and would an insurance company deny a claim for either/or both the truck and/or camper based on a weight issue, measured or not?
What if it's another driver's at fault? Is the not at fault driver subject to getting worked over?
From all the talk, everyone thinks ins carriers will do whatever dastardly deeds they need to deny a claim.
Just curious. You know, asking for a friend.
MarkCo is the better one to ask about that, as that is the kind of thing he would investigate on behalf of an insurance company. My opinion is, if it's just property damage, and you have enough insurance to cover the damages, then no one will likely even consider looking at anything you mentioned. If someone dies, that's when the lawyers and detailed investigations start happening. Don't count on death as a minimum threshold though, any injury at all really.

Obviously he was too drunk to walk. A guy walking on the street could get run over by someone who shouldn't be behind the wheel.

Noticed the plates are expired too. Couple that with the smashed windshield and overall appearance, and it gives the real impression this jackass is rolling around without insurance.

It's a truck... whats the problem with him being up on that curb? Not like it's a sidewalk or anything, and gives the space next to him a little more room than that big truck normally would. Seems like a extra good parking job to me.

My guess is the guy driving the truck worked for the business and wasn’t the owner. I imagine if the owner knew how Juan or Julio was representing his business he likely wouldn’t be too happy.
But, in the drivers defense, it’s tough to fit a full size truck in just about any parking spot these days. I don’t know if there is a standard size for parking spots but if there is I bet it’s been getting smaller over the years. I don’t have a dually but I’ve been squared up and centered in spots and the stripes were maybe six inches from my tires on either side.

I've noticed this as well. I call it the Airplane Seat Effect. Squeeze more and more parking spaces into the same sized area to accommodate more customers. If the customers car doors get dinged it's not usually going to adversely effect their bottom line and it's no skin off of their knees.
It'd be nice if they would at least have more open check out lanes at places with a billion parking spaces. Looking at you Walmart, Costco, Sam's, and Home Depot.

You’re just hitting the store at the wrong time. I’ve seen plenty of open checkouts at times like 11 pm or 5 am. Nobody in the store but four or six open checkouts. It seems their rule about only having one open lane only applies to prime shopping times when the store is packed full of shoppers.
Just like when the HOV lane is closed at 10am, but open at 3am.

So, I'm going to argue for this guy.
What's he supposed to do? Hang out into the path of cars and cause traffic issues there?
There is still plenty of room to walk past, and he's eliminating the potential of the usual twits in this thread hitting his truck and running.

This is parked at a construction supply house. The entire other side of the building is contractor parking with plenty of space to get long trucks parked out of the street, even with ladders. And a dozen open spots when this picture was taken.
Nice of him to park his ladder out of the street, but that could have been done 30 ft away without blocking the sidewalk.
Plus, dude needs a ladder rack.

Nice of him to park his ladder out of the street, but that could have been done 30 ft away without blocking the sidewalk.
Plus, dude needs a ladder rack.
Mmmmmm... That's a yummy mouthful of foot...
So, I definitely didn't pick the ladder out as being a ladder. Best guess, my mind interpreted it as something across the street in the background.
The context doesn't really make my foot taste any better, but I certainly appreciate the graciousness in your response.
But that's what I get for posting while watching a tv show on the computer, while writing a proposal for a customer, and switching back and forth between screens. Oh well, it's not the first time. Likely won't be the last.

I didn't give any details because I posted so quickly.
I was irritated and literally posted that as I grumbled and walked out into the street to get around it.
No, I don't limbo.
And yes, walking into the street while posting pictures on forums is not advised...but I lived to tell about it. ;)

Any HD in the denver area I've asked only does a veteran discount for retired vets. On veterans day they offer it to everyone.
Lowes offers it for all vets. Lowes gives me the discount every time, automatically when I use the mylowes loyalty card.

Besides the sabotaged snow plows, the mayor said that a fake pipe bomb was left in Mount Vernon City Hall on Jan. 14 and "almost immediately after" the building was clear, someone set fire to a file cabinet in an office. He appeared to link the incident on Tuesday with the ones last month.

How's he supposed to know what you're up to?
Just pull next to the trailer and lay on the horn until he comes out. You'll look like a dick, but I've done it before and it worked for me.Seriously? You don't park up against someone's trailer. ESPECIALLY if you DON'T know what they're up to.
PS - Didn't find the owner. Ugh. Left a polite note on their windshield asking them not to park so close. Hoping they just didn't know better and aren't actually being jerks.
Seriously? I've never heard of that before. How is anybody supposed to know how long you are going to be there? Most of the time when I have seen a trailer parked on the street it has been there for more than just a few minutes.
I wasn't aware of that either but im glad I learned so I don't accidentally make that mistake in the future I guess.
I tend to agree. Dropping a trailer on a public street doesn’t give the owner indefinite right to the parking around it.
Is it the most friendly thing to do to park in front of the trailer, probably not. But parking a trailer on a public residential street is done so at your own risk. Personally I guess I’m a little jaded because it annoys me when someone I don’t know parks a trailer on my neighborhood street.
Or park it close enough to the corner or alley entrance that no one can/will park in front of it. I park it just far enough off the corner that it isn't a parking friendly space, but it appears that I was trying to be courteous and not block the sight line for other traffic at the intersection. That way, I almost always have unfettered access when I need to hitch up.
I have 2 people in my neighborhood that I would like to strangle, though. One is a class A motorhome and the other is a box trailer (2 separate residences) and both constantly park with the ass end of the vehicles as close to the corner as possible, and both are on fairly busy (for our neighborhood) streets/intersections. You have to pull practically 1/2 way into the intersection to see if vehicles are approaching.
hollohas
05-13-2019, 12:37
Boy, you guys sure are thoughtful of others.
This is a through street adjacent to a neighborhood. Not a single driveway anywhere on it. This is not parked in front of anyone's house. I went out of my way to make sure I didn't cause anyone trouble with where I parked it. Hell, I could have parked closer to home, in front of the neighborhood mailbox, but I thought that'd be rude to both the mail lady and everyone who wants you stop and grab the mail on the way home.
Regarding the street parking not belonging to me, of course it doesn't. Neither does the hundreds of yards of completely open curbs on both sides of the street that this person could have used instead.
How happy would you all be if someone parked so close they boxed your car in and you couldn't move your vehicle until they moved theirs first??? Every single one of you would be PISSED. This is no different.
Just because you don't know how long a trailer is going to be there doesn't make it safe to assume that the owner won't need to move it until after you move your vehicle. That's a self centered assumption to make. If there is nowhere else to park, I get it. Shit happens. Countless other places to park? It's simply rude.
To be fair, people are used to seeing trailers parked along the streets all over the place. Generally I know that a trailer is about to be used when it's attached to a vehicle. The wide open street sounds like when you're in an empty movie theater and someone comes and sits down right next to you. That person probably wasn't intentionally being rude. More than likely, they parked that close to the trailer because they saw it as another vehicle and as far as other vehicles are concerned, people generally park near enough to them so the street parking fills up uniformly without weird gaps from people just parking where ever. I like the cone idea since it's cheap insurance.
When I become rich enough to buy mid end McLaren and Ferrari, I am going to carry a private cone around.
:)
Might as well buy the cone now so you'll already have it when you get the super car. '
I feel like if you just rocked a Toyota Avalon instead of those high maintenance German cars you've been driving, you'd already be half way to a McLaren in repair savings alone!
I had Toyota Avalon till July 2017 and traded in for 2018 Hyundai Elantra.

_New Starter motor
- New Radiator
Still exponentially cheaper [parts] than some German vehicles.

Our local HOA restricts RV, boat, and Trailer parking to up to 48 hours for cleaning and loading.
Then it is $100 fine. Have a couple of neighborhood Nazi's that take pictures and send them with time stamps to the HOA Board members.
But, then again, there is no on-street parking for residents under the covenants. One of the worst violaters became Board President and that agitation died down.
Now there are 2 cars parked in front of his house all of the time.
Don't get me started on HOAs. Just today I ran into a situation where the HOA was demanding that a house be painted with $100 per day fines. That alone is ridiculous enough as finding any competent contractor is often a weeks long issue to get into their schedule. So the house got painted (the same color as it was before, which was a previously approved color), then the Board of Directors changed the color pallet, and now the house is one shade off and not the correct brand of paint so they are requiring it to be painted again. How there aren't more murdered HOA board members every year is a complete mystery to me.
Our HOA management use to be super strict, but after changing management company, it uses little bit more of a common sense approach.
Beside little weed level of violation, it's been quiet here since.

I park in a small park lot and walk to my kids school to avoid the traffic cluster. Pulled up today and saw these kids parked not only in the handicap spot (they had no placard), but parked the wrong way taking up two spaces, of course the only logical thing to do in my eyes was park properly in the spot closest to them, and watch them Austin Powers their way out of the spot, which is what I did.

Always carry a knife to quickly undo things like this when others think it is ok for them to be jerks too.
I saw a Jeep straddling the line across the two spaces directly in front of an auto parts store. I didn't take a picture because the guy and girl had the tailgate open and were just hanging out.
Why do motorcycles park on store sidewalks? Are they to good to use a parking space? Or too lazy to walk that far?
