A steel plate at the range doesn't have kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, etc... Not saying it's the optimal caliber, but...I've never heard anyone complain about getting shot with too small a round.

This was my Savage 111LRH 338 Lapua I had accidentally loaded it with Hodgdon H-110 handgun powder instead of H-1000 rifle powder so when I touched it off the whole gun blew up like a bomb with bits a pieces flying. Your scope forced all the shrapnel down and away from everyone, I had the top straps miss my left arm by a 1/2 inch. If your scope wasn't on the rifle or if your scope was built so well that shrapnel would have been sent outward and may have hit and injured people standing by. ETA: I'm a dick. I did not realize Hawkings has ALS, or what ALS really is.
I did some research and found out that ALS sufferers can still feel. It's not the same as being paralyzed due to a spinal injury.
They are unable to control their muscles because their brain's motor neurons slowly die and no longer send signals down to the muscles.
However, their nerves are still sending signals up to the brain and they can still feel.
What a crappy disease.
Hope Hawkings had as much fun in the "Vomit Comet" as he appears to have had.

I was just looking at my 155gr HST's and they are not shiny. I have found that a Q-tip and some Flitz can get them looking back to factory new in no time.


So when I shoot my 870 the top of the stock hits me on the cheekbone under my eye. To keep it from biting me, I have been holding my head/face off the stock when I shoot.

* The finish on the M107's is much more durable, scratch resistant and rust resistant.

* It has the thermal cheek guard that allows the shooter to rest their face on the cheek plate and not directly on metal. Also, it's elevated which is ideal because the M107A1 has a really long, elevated mono-rail.

* It has a lightweight, quick detach bipod with modular feet.

* It has a monopod as standard equipment instead of having to pay additional and add as an accessory; this is a big help so you do not have to support the weight of the rear of the rifle with your own strength. It also allows you to dial the elevation of where your aiming up or down with the monopod with even more accuracy so even if you don't want to upgrade you may want to ask about adding a monopod.

Before the $89 AK kits we had the $89 Fal kits. Back in the day we built them in almost every caliber from 9mm luger to 8mm Mauser. A post i pulled from 2008 on the falfiles. people were wanting to build carbines.


And everyone thought I was crazy when I built my 7.62X25. In my defense I will say there is no way I would have a stock weight Fal in X25 or even .223

I have a PTR91KF that I bought a while back. It's one of the newer AW serial numbered guns that is said to have shallow flutes. I haven't fired it yet, but from what I'm reading, a significant number of rifles in this serial number range are very picky about what ammo they run on, and a good number of them choke on surplus ammo after less than a mag.

This is not what I wanted. I don't need a finicky princess target rifle that only puts out if you feed it lobster and caviar. I want a rifle that I can depend on to work with any ammo I stuff into the mag. I have piles of surplus 308 and I expect my rifles to be able to use it. I thought PTR was good to go, but I guess I should have done more research.

Lately I've had very little patience with problem guns. I came very close to just unloading it, but I decided that I have too much into the rifle, hensoldt, collapsible stock, mags, and spare parts to just wash my hands of this one. So, I'm going to stick with it and do what it takes to make it work.

How involved is it to change the barrel on a rifle such as this? Since the consensus seems to be that the chamber and flutes PTR spec'd on their new barrels is the problem I figure I could just have a HK contract barrel pressed in and be GTG.
