Everyone does something stupid once in a while. People who make it a lifestyle really piss me off.

Looks like one of those first big ones took out the front end (alignment maybe).

I was at that same jetty in December. Wife and I watched a couple walk out on it during just a mild series of waves. They got knocked down once and very wisely decided to run their asses back to dry land.
Looks like the front tires are going in different directions.

He sure Dodged that!
Technically, I think she Nissaned in but I still LOLed.

Spartans verbal commit Donovan Winter was in Seminole County jail instead of at Orlando Bishop Moore Catholic's National Signing Day news conference today, according to the Orlando Sentinel. He's charged with burglary and larceny of a firearm after being arrested Monday night.

The Sentinel asked Bishop Moore coach Matt Hedrick whether the three-star defensive end would sign at all today, and he responded: "No, he's not signing. Long story."

Here's a nice widow maker about 50ish feet off the ground, right near a play ground. I'd say it's probably 12' long and the branch at it's thickest is about 5" across. After I saw that, I looked around and noticed that most of the trees were dead. It's only been the most windy year in my memory from Cheyenne to Pueblo, so what's the worst that could happen?

Trigger safeties + flimsy holsters = disaster

I found it on another site. The flimsy, worn out holster was my first thought. The pic was followed by an "educated" discussion about how crappy and dangerous Glocks are, OMG the gun is unpredictable! eyeroll. Dude, right there in the pic you can see the holster crimped and pushing on the trigger. Don't want to spend money on holsters, then buy a gun with a traditional safety and learn how to use the equipment, like don't carry chambered.

ray1970

I think somebody was combining photos on the Glock/butt shot.

I remember the photos from the original incident. The guy was seated in the passenger seat of his vehicle and tried to holster the Glock in that flimsy, worn out leather holster (wearing it at about the three o'clock position) and when it discharged it tore up his pants, gave him a superficial wound somewhere on his hip, and went through the car seat. I'll try to find a link.

I learned that after "instructing" a friend that had a poor grip and accuracy issues on semi's. After shooting the Sig's and 1911's, he carried it over on his revolver and I did not know at the time to correct him and explain he WAS doing it right on the revolver. My derp.

But, it'll be the low-level employee that installed the damned things...not the dumbfuck in charge that thought that was a good idea and ordered the installation. And, yeah...the part about this being the first time there was a problem since 2014 pissed me off, too. Oh, yeah, it's dangerous and potentially lethal to all sorts of unintended targets. I've had similar ideas as that pistol mask. Their idea is way better developed than any of mine were. I see two issues. 1) Everyone sees you always use a different phone than the one prominently displayed on your belt. "Oh this? That's just my secret burner phone. "
2) The time you accidentally hit that release and you give everyone around you a pistol grip peep show.

davsel
04-27-2017, 12:49
I would think the big floating phone above your belt-line may draw attention. Unless you're wearing a top hat or maybe some flippers for additional distraction.

Irving
04-27-2017, 13:43
You'd think, but if you've ever open carried before you'll know that people don't really pay that much attention, especially when something is familiar. I think this would be great if you worked around different people every single day, but it'd draw way too much attention in an office setting. You can't even buy a new belt without someone commenting on it when you work with the same people every day.

Zero firearms knowledge required. Being 100% serious. The course is essentially "how to instruct" after which, they get certified immediately after taking any regular course. E.g. take basic rifle? Now certified rifle instructor even if never shot a firearm prior to attending class.
Not when I got certified - had to take a specific instructor course for each discipline - e.g. "Basic Pistol Instructor" is a roughly week-long course, it's not an "instructor course" followed by simply taking "basic pistol". Want to add basic rifle? Another "Basic Rifle Instructor" course must be taken. All instructor certifications include live fire requirements and supervising others during live firing.

At least when I did my cert back in 2005 - maybe they've gotten slack since then.

Bailey Guns
06-10-2017, 10:11
^^ That was my experience, too, a few years before you. Not saying it's the most stringent training by any stretch as evidenced by the video...but there is (or was) a firing qualification requirement. I had been a police firearms instructor for over 10 years (also an NRA certification) and was still required to get the "civilian" certification. Waste of time but there was no way around it.

Circuits
06-10-2017, 16:13
I did mine back in... 2010 perhaps. Maybe 2009. It was just a singular instructor course (unrelated to firearms for the most part), coupled with a basic pistol and one instance of supervising others during live firing, which really amounts to "stand near somebody" as far as most of those in attendance are concerned. There were some people in the instructor course with pretty much nill firearms experience, all got their certification. After that, taking any regular NRA course granted you the instructor label for the dicipline.

OK, they definitely dumbed down the curriculum, then. My condolences.

Iran executes young man who was arrested at age 15
Published August 10, 2017
Associated Press
TEHRAN, Iran – A semi-official Iranian news agency is reporting that a young Iranian man who was arrested, convicted and sentenced to death as a child, has been executed.

Amnesty International called Thursday's execution of Alireza Tajiki "shameful." Tajiki was 15 years old when he was arrested six years ago for murder and sodomy.

The Thursday report by Ana.ir quoted general prosecutor of Shiraz city Ali Salehi as saying the execution took place Thursday morning and was "legal." He said Tajiki had a "fair and just" prosecution.

Salehi said Iran's Supreme Court upheld the execution following an appeal.

Under Iranian law, murder, rape, sodomy and armed rubbery are punishable by death.

Elderly Couple Stopped In Nebraska With 60 Pounds Of Weed 'For Christmas Presents'

December 22, 201710:12 AM ET
LAUREL WAMSLEY

Sheriff's deputies in York County, Neb., arrested an elderly California couple who had approximately 60 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.
York County Sheriff's Department
Sheriff's deputies in York County, Neb., stopped a pickup truck on Tuesday when they noticed it driving over the center line and the driver failing to signal.

During the traffic stop, deputies noticed a strong smell of raw marijuana, the sheriff's department says.

Patrick Jiron, 80, and Barbara Jiron, 83, said they were from northern California and were en route to Boston and Vermont.

Elderly couple claims marijuana was for Christmas presents

— York News-Times (@yorknewstimes) December 20, 2017
Deputies asked the driver, Patrick Jiron, about the odor, and he admitted to having contraband in the truck and consented to a search of the vehicle.

With the help of the county's canine unit, deputies searched the Toyota Tacoma. When they looked under the pickup topper, deputies found 60 pounds of marijuana, as well as multiple containers of concentrated THC.

"They said the marijuana was for Christmas presents," Lt. Paul Vrbka told the York News-Times. The department estimated the street value of the pot at over $3oo,000.

The Jirons now face felony charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp. (Nebraska law requires marijuana dealers to purchase drug tax stamp from its Department of Revenue as evidence that the state's drug tax has been paid.)

For the friends and family in New England who expected a bag of weed in their stocking this year, it looks like it won't be a green Christmas, after all.

He has had a glass eye ever since I've known him.

Mmmm, glass eye story.

I don't recall what precipitated the event besides the usual drinking, lying, and card playing shenanigans, but when I was a wee lad, my father got into a very drunken brawl with a dear friend of his in deer camp one year that had a glass eye. Knocked it out when they "went outside" to settle things like real men do, and then they all spent the next hour or so crawling around on hands on knees looking for Skippy's glass eye. Thankfully, it was early season and there was no snow to speak of outside the cabin.
