Well, here's what it looks like when I first got it, just a plain jane S&W M&P15OR:

Then I added a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 scope, Burris AR PEPR scope mount, MagPul MIAD Full kit - utilizing the integrated trigger guard (love it this way!), MagPul BAD Lever (which I'm debating taking off now that I'm reading quite a few horror stories about them), MagPul MOE handguard, JP Enterprises Reduced Power Trigger Spring Kit and a few basic PMags.

Then, I found a great deal on some factory M&P15 Troy Sights, as well as an M&P15 Troy MRF rail, so I converted the rifle to my very own M&P15ORT. At the same time, I added a BCM Gunfighter Mod4 charging handle and Vortex Flash Eliminator. The final purchase before the rifle base is complete is a MagPul ACS stock. I have to say, I LOVE the way my rifle looks now!
I removed the scope, because I'm might be willing to give Primary Arms another shot at impressing me with their M4 red dot sight (tried the M3, had it fail on me the first day at the range, the laser diode came unglued and it lost zero after about 100-150 rounds). But I'm also very interested in trying a Burris Tac30, but might end up getting an Aimpoint ML3 2moa (if I can find a good deal on it). Eventually, I'll also get a Harris Bipod in a LaRue QD mount so I can swap it between rifles.

The UBR weighs about a pound more than the CTR or LMT Sopmod in my experience. But the fixed cheek piece while the stock can be adjusted is nice, and the latch mechanism is amazingly sturdy.

Obviously you like UBR's, goes without saying. (Unless I'm pulling a full retard and suddenly confusing stocks) Was wondering how you felt about it's relative heavy weight on the SBR? I'm kinda imagining rather than a drag, it might actually be nice to still have the weight all in the rear and something you can pull in nice and solid.
The LMT SBR is actually still front heavy. The 10.5" LMT barrel profile is very heavy so the UBR help balance it nicely.
If you are ever down this way we can certainly make a trip to the range to try the stocks.
For example, the LMT 10.5" SBR is actually heavier in the front than the BCM M4 with 14.5" barrel and 2" more rail...

Stop posting, too many simple to the point functional rifles that are also beautiful. My LWRC never seems as nice, maybe it's all in the rail panels, been needing to get either XTM's or the rail ladders. Your rifles make me swing back towards keeping all black. Was getting the itch to start swapping parts to make it 2 tone ODG or FDE + black. May keep all black but do the mixed color XTM "rainbow" patterning.
As far as the ultra heavy barrel profile, being an SBR I'm thinking not for trying to be el sniper. Is it designed for just putting it through heavy abuse? I've also been wanting to find if it's really possible without insane expense to build an AR15 out for basically high and rapid round count over concern for pinpoint accuracy. Or maybe parts to make barrel swaps easier. Been toying with a red neck shooting course at my bosses land and running a non $2000 LWRC through it a lot with a slidefire stock. (Think I'll go and avoid the cmag seeing as I'd want to mag dump once and that's it.)
I had a couple of painted ARs and really like the Evil BLACK Rifles right now, they do look good. Although I do have one with Magpul Foliage furniture.
I believe they went with a very heavy profile on the 10.5" to handle the high volume of fire. It is really not so heavy that it is a problem or anything, it is just a thick barrel inside the rail.
If I was build an AR for high round count I would just look at a 16" chrome lined mid length from Bravo Company, (or a 14.5" mid length for that matter, or Daniel Defense too.). They have standard uppers that you could get into for less than $400 just add handguards and a BCG and you would have a carbine that would handle everything you could throw at it.
I did exactly this when I got the BCM 14.5" mid length below, a light weight high round count blaster.

Another BCM arrived today! 14.5" lightweight, I have a VLTOR modstock on its way in FDE but I have spent the last couple days thinking about all black? Still need sling, BAD lever and ambi selector.

Heavy duty $0 DIY sling. The attachment is temporary, when the VLTOR comes in it will get finalized. Padded, single/2 point attachment. But even the loop I used temporarily is heavy duty. I have a lot of 1.5" and 2" straps and hooks, loops etc laying around. I have carried well over 100lbs with this strap and hooks before so I think it will hold.

Yep, lightweight profile. I really like it, nice balance! But I think I am gonna switch to the Troy 2 piece dark earth handguards.
My Bravo Co ARs have been great, and the 14.5" mid length is a sweet spot in the AR platform, good choice.

Went shooting with some friends on Memorial Day out in the desert in AZ and had a blast.
My personal rifle is the Mini-14 (bipod/scope). The rest of the arsenal belongs to my friends. Yes, that's an AR-45 next to my Mini-14 and was it ever fun to shoot!
On the far right is a 1/2 scale Civil War mortar. We launched a soda can filled with dirt about 75 yards up and 180 yards down range. Now that was fun!

It is a Leupold Mk4 4.5-14x50mm with TMR reticle. I'm actually looking at the Leupold Mk4 3.5-10 or a Nightforce 2.5-10 for this SPR and I'm thinking of adding an offset Aimpoint Micro for close range.

I used to get so much shit for my pics, I never knew anyone liked them till recently. Haha I bet they do think Im a wierdo, Thank god we have a fence. Not sure if its a really mice photo, but I like it.
my fav gun photo is still my shooting down the barrel shot... believe it not i was holding a P&S Canon camera while taking this pic... excuse the dust in the barrel (carry weapon), but the Ranger T starring at you is what makes the shot... or me. :)

Since this is a photography thread, and my wife is the family photographer, I shared some of your photographs with her. I should have guessed that she would ask me the obvious questions, and I had no answers.
If possible, would photographers who are posting photographs, would also list the type of camera, lens, lighting, or any other pertinent information like photo editing software used, that would be very helpful to other photographers (or so I've been told).
This obviously would not apply to photographs in for sale threads, just photographs of a more artistic nature.
Thanks for sharing your photographs. It is definitely a way that my wife and I can combine our hobbies. [Flower]

I was losing light and fighting with clouds so my ISO was super high and my aperture was wide open so i've got grainy shots with very short focal lengths. I was trying to go with the artsy/fade out the crap in my yard shots so I didn't get one of the whole side of it. I have an older version of it posted in the "evil black" thread on page#52.

I HATE the rubber Hogue grips. I dont like aftermarket grips, they change the whole shape of it.

Get large prints and frame'em... you should also offer photo shoots for the guys that would love their stuff framed on their walls to... maybe that can help you fund your passion of shooting pix and GUNS [Coffee] just my $0.02 [Beer]

yeah i wouldnt recomend it to be caried in that manor but it does give you a verry nice grip it makes me much more accurate since the gun postion doesnt change during recoil. it doesnt wear out as bad as hockey tape

How do you like the 60 rounder so far?
I like it, but it is mostly a novelty for my purposes. I wrote a bit more about it and posted a bunch of pics in the magazine forum.

Without my form in front of me, I don't recall the over-all length. It's a 7.5" barrel with an Ops M4S, which mounts to a brake and collar. On a gun this short, all the M4S really does is add back pressure and take a little bit of noise off the top. Sounds like an unsuppressed 14.5" M4. Without it, sounds like a mine going off, and you get an impressive fireball. The mount will also accommodate my Ops 15th if I want it a (very) little bit quieter.

Finally acquired the ACR that I've been drooling over for years.. every since the Masada announcement those many years ago. So after getting a very fair deal on a new FDE Basic Configuration ACR at.. believe it or not.. the September Tanner show a few weeks ago. Then the quest for the correct color folding stock began. Well Bushmaster sucks, it was going to be a 30 day wait, so I started searching. Several days later, I found a 5280 sale on Gunbroker, alas it was only available in black.
Thus began the planning for the paint job.. which took all of 15 minutes to make and another 30 to clean it up and tape off the right places. Another hour to paint and here I present the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-vil ACR.

Which brand of sights are those? MI? I've decided for my shorty upper I'm going to run fixed sights rather than folders just to be different my my normal setups.

Its pretty damn fun to shoot and way easy to break down. Piston system recoil is basically the same feel as my piston AR's. Yeah its the most expensive weapon I've bought but it was fairly cheap to set it up as you see it. Which us about all I am going to do to it for the forreseeable future

How is the RMC treating you, do you notice much more flash and concussion when compared to a normal A2? I was kinda thinking of trying one on my 11.5" but decided not to because I was worried about too much noise being redirected to the sides and towards the shooter.

Haven't gotten it yet, it is scheduled to come in either today or tomorrow. But, I will slap that baby on when I get it in, head up to left hand canyon and test it out. I will compare it to the standard A2 Birdcage and let you know how it works. I have a 16", so the results might be different than it would be for your 11.5".
Looking forward to the range report.
Couple more I found... I need to stop investing in guns and get a camera.

It comes from **** situations, a home invasion and a NEAR home invasion where someone was coming through my door at 3am.
I hit my dedicated light and it didnt work, tailcap was dirty, I had my one at the 6 o clock luckily.
My thought process is I would rather hit another switch instead of changing batteries or trying to diagnose a problem when there is no time

Very cool flash hider. I used the Rainier Arms one and the A2 Birdcage. The Rainier Arms has slightly less recoil, didn't notice a difference in flash and had my buddy stand to the side about 6 yards away and didn't notice any difference in the concussion between the two. The only main difference is how it looks (really cool) and a little bit of recoil (not that their is much anyway). I would recommend especially with the coupon code. Which is MAPS. Or maybe MAP. It is ~20 dollars off.

Well, it took a little while, but I've finally got the Mk18 complete. Took it out last week, and it's a fun, if loud, gun to shoot. Just have to get the suppressor next year.
