Trident Stage Designer is all platform compatible. It's $10 to join but if you are stage designing, one of the easiest out there to use.
Thanks, Kris. Might look into it. Of course $10 will buy me lots of pencils and paper.

True, but it's not electronic and pencil and paper doesn't give you access to 5,000+ other stages!

Yeah. Shooting from retention, then while on the move, then weak hand only and then strong hand only (all in the same stage I might add) tends to slow people down a bit. Just saying.

The guy who designed that stage must be some sort of masochist.

If I could submit that stage again, I'd call it the Black Knight Stage (Monty Python). First you've got all your function, then you lose your legs (barrel) and then you lose one hand, then the other.

Have you considered trying out the Friday night bowling pin match at Shoot Indoors? I'm thinking about trying one out since I didn't get to shoot at all this month. I can make Friday nights much more easily than Monday nights as well.

I hadn't given it any thought. It is pretty close by and usually Friday nights are pretty free in my schedule. Might have to think about it. Need to practice more with my GoPro anyways. Lol.

When they roll out the 1 second per point penalties, the times are going to be slower still.

I went last night and it is a good time. This shoot is a little newer than the one at Bristlecone, so they haven't quite worked the kinks out. At the same time, a lot of the shooters are newer and the competition isn't quite as steep. Give it a few more weeks though.

EDIT: That's not to say that great shooters aren't there. There were a few guys that were pretty intimidating, including a young guy who just started shooting in January and is a 3-gunner.

Slapps74
10-10-2015, 20:29
Agreed. Not that I am a great shooter but I did well. Had to go 3 rounds back to back. The older gentleman that beat me was running 1 shot per pin with a 45. Making up some hotter 9mm loads as we speak.

ray1970
10-10-2015, 20:31
Just use that 10mm of yours next time.

Slapps74
10-10-2015, 20:33
I thought about it. I have a RIA 10mm now as well don't have enough mags for that yet. The core pro did well until we went to 5 pins that are placed towards the front of the board and they didn't fall off as easy.

ray1970
10-10-2015, 20:43
If your reloads aren't heavy enough you could try some of these.

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/295755/fiocchi-shooting-dynamics-ammunition-9mm-luger-158-grain-full-metal-jacket-subsonic-box-of-50

Irving
10-10-2015, 20:45
124 grain flat point 9mm are what I used when shooting 9mm, and they lay the pins down much better than standard 115gr round point ammo.

How many mags do you think you need for the bowling pin match? I did like 4-5 rounds back to back and kept running to the back to reload. I was joking that I brought 6 mags, but reloading the same one over and over gave me a second to rest between rounds. Haha.
Slapps if you were there for the 8pm when the 6pm was letting out, we probably saw each other. I didn't stick around though.

Had a great time out there today. I asked around all day for you Slapps, as I'm just now reading this. There was one stage that was pretty hairy for new shooters, and one stage that was just balls to the wall speed. Good combo. Can't wait for scores.

I'm uploading some videos to YouTube right now. I'll post them up when they are done.

Also, I'd love to see the video of a certain someone tumbling to the ground.

The "cool kid squad" just wasn't the same without it's ring leader today.

Still had a good time though. Well, except for the part where we set up all of the stages and then immediately tore them back down and moved them and then set them up again.

Irving
10-24-2015, 18:47
The tumble unfortunately did not get caught on the GoPro, as it ran out of space the run before. I'm uploading my videos as well. Because I came with a pretty much full camera, I've got only 3 stages on the GoPro, and the rest on the cell phone.

Irving
10-24-2015, 20:32
Okay, only took a couple of hours to get the video up. I added some annotations to the video. Tell me what you think.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFrZPQmxCzs

NOTE: Our group started on Stage 5, and a few of us were standing around talking about how the stage felt slow and awkward with it being the first stage of the day. I remember feeling like I needed to clear my head and start focusing. I probably even thought to myself "What are you doing? Speed it up, stupid." You can clearly see this change in stage 5 between the first set of targets and the last set of targets.

I brought some stuff for the minions, but it all went to ARC after the match. :(

I guess the Cowboy Action people have a big match this weekend because they had tents and food trucks set up and wanted to set up for tomorrows match now. Something like that. At least I was able to eat an Indian Taco right at the range.

Sorry about the move, I forgot they had a big match out there. I was out there last month and they had a major match too and I thought that was it. Didn't realize there were two of them.

All the RO's and setup folks out there a huge thanks for making that all happen. Without you guys none of this would happen! KUDOS!

A side note on scores...they won't be up until Monday or Tues night. Sorry about the delay, logistics and life got in the way of me picking up the paperwork and getting them entered today.

Here was my perspective from yesterday's match. All five stages in no particular order. I was shooting a Glock 26 in SSP. Sort the same gun last month but in CCP and didn't like the 8+1 limit for that division because it pretty much made me have an extra reload on each stage. You'll notice at the end of the first video I post that I had a little malfunction that caught me by surprise. Basically had a light primer strike. I'm blaming the ammo since the pistol is unmodified and has performed perfectly for me for several hundred rounds and didn't bobble again for the rest of the match.

I bet you could out shoot marksman all day long.

Does anyone know if the new penalty change will effect the times for rankings?

Yes they are reworking the classification system to adjust for the new penalty times.

Hope this finds you all well,

After putting out a poll and talking with our members about some holiday matches, we got enough feedback and decided we are going to pack it in for the year. Instead of trying to hold a match and having to cancel it each month we decided this was a better option.

Enjoy the Holidays with your family and a huge thank you to all of you that came out to help set up, shoot, tear down and make ECOIDPA a successful match each month.

We are going to try and pick matches back up again in March (depending on the weather of course) and maybe earlier if mother nature cooperates. Keep an eye out for announcements and we will keep you posted!

From all of us here at ECOIDPA have a great Holiday season and we will see you next year!

Thanks,
ECOIDPA Staff

Looks like it's this Sunday morning. I called and they are accepting new shooters. The website says they're capping at 20 shooters, but the lady on the phone says they aren't currently enforcing the cap. IDPA shooter Mike Billingsly was telling me that he had a hand in getting this started and they were trying to start out small to work any bugs out, so I thought it was important that I call. Here is a link to the registration page, which can be accessed from the calendar page.

It sailed before we posted cancel. At best would have been only 2 RO's and 2nd RO was not a guarantee.

We need to get everyone on Kool Kids Squad certified then we could usually cover any match. All the regulars on the squad are trained and knowledgeable.

Sorry we had to cancel again all, we can't run an unsafe match. Please see below and if you are interested get in touch!

All,

If you have an interest in IDPA and would like to see the Eastern Colorado IDPA continue, we need your help!

Due to scheduling during the summer months we have been coming up short on RO's for the match. Instead of running a sub-par unsafe match we are forced to cancel when we are short. So we are putting out a call for people that would like to help - We need RO's! We can arrange the certification class and host it, we just need people to train.

What's in it for you? When you RO a match at ECOIDPA you shoot for free....that's right, you save $20 every time you RO!

Please if you are interested contact us at ECOIDPAinfo@gmail.com

Thanks

ECOIDPA EXPRESS

Crunched for time but still want to shoot? We are offering a select number of spots this season as a test to see how this works.

If you want to shoot through for the match because you have A. Angry Wife/Husband that all you want to do is shoot "guns", B. have an appointment to get to, or C: are rich and money is no object... Ask about ECOIDPA Express at the match.

ECOIDPA Express - lets people pay a bit extra and allows them to shoot through the stages so they can be on their way.

What's a shoot through? - The shooter carries his/her score sheet and shoots a stage, when they are done they move to a stage they haven't shot and insert their score sheet where the RO on that stage deems its best suited....rinse and repeat.

This style allows competitors to shoot the match much faster.

Cost? $15 + Match fee

How many ECOIDPA Express Slots are available? - We are going to cap it at 5 to start and will adjust once we have some data on how it effects match flow.

How are the ECOIDPA Express Slots assigned? - First come first served - When you register for the match let the ECOIDPA staff member know you would like an Express slot, if there are any available pay the $15 (in addition to match fee) and you will be given a ECOIDPA Express score sheet instead of the standard score sheet.

What do I do with my sheet when I am done? - Leave your scoring sheet with the RO on your last stage and it will be scored with the rest of the scoring sheets

"Ken's up; Joe's on deck; Steve is in the hole; Bob is in the deep hole....No, wait, this A-hole is 'shooting through,' so you guys can wait...and by the way, he's not taping targets and expects you mopes to pick up his brass. But hey, he paid us $15"

ray1970
03-07-2017, 16:53
I guess it's like letting someone play through on the golf course. But probably more complicated.

The squad I'm usually on runs slow enough without people trying to play through.

You've never wanted to shoot a match but didn't have time? I sure have, and I'd have willingly paid more to shoot through. It's a test to see if it effects times/match flow anyways. Since we make so much on these matches as it is ($0) we figured this might be a nice way to offer our shooters better matches, BBQ's etc without charging more for match fees.

If you aren't a good enough sport to allow 1-2 people to shoot through that may have an appointment or something else going on, maybe ECOIDPA isn't for you? And if they are moping around not helping tape or brass then ECOIDPA isn't for them either. We all volunteer to do this so we can have some fun, we are trying things we haven't seen at matches before to see if we can offer more fun and possibly a better experience all around. Some stuff will work, others won't.

Also you need to look at it this way, your squad size won't change. You will likely start with 1 of the Express people on your squad, who will shoot and then leave. See it's not so bad!

And if it sucks all around after a match or two we will ditch it, like I said it's a test

We all shoot matches of our choice, if something like that is a big issue for you, then I'd rather you get out to a match you'd enjoy. That wasn't meant as a snide remark, for clarifications sake. I want you to enjoy the shooting sports you get out to, it helps us all grow no matter where you choose to shoot.

No, and it wouldn't matter if they did, it's only available during registration at the match. Kind of an incentive to get there a bit earlier if you want to use the Express.

No match this month all, it is a designated CRC range work day. We tried to go to the 5th sat, but they are having a 3-gun event so no go.

If you are a member at CRC and need to fill your workbond for a discount on your membership, this day is a great way to get it out of the way for the year.

Hello everyone!

We are planning on hosting the May match this Saturday (assuming the weather cooperates).

Please note that we will be conducting the annual IDPA Classifier this weekend, which means that we won't be conducting new shooter training. Again, new shooters will not be able to shoot the Classifier.

Also, because of the logistics of shooting the classifier, we won't be able to offer any ECOIDPA Express slots this weekend. The new classifier is substantially shorter than the old one (8 strings and 72 rounds vs 14 strings and 90 rounds) so we should be able to get through it much quicker than before. You should still plan on bringing extra magazines and load them full when possible.

Please check back Friday for any last minute weather updates.

No Go this month folks, sorry :/ - June 24th match cancelled.

Sorry all, we are short staffed, the forecast is calling for rain Fri and Sat and I have a large construction project that I am prepping for. With the possibility of a muddy mess and what I have going on I'm going to call it. I was holding out hoping I could line everything up, but it's just not going to happen this month.

We will be back in July ready to go blasting!

Hello everyone!
We are planning to host the August match this Saturday. I hope I don't jinx it, but it looks as if the weather may cooperate this time. We have five great stages planned, and one of them includes the use of a rather unique stage gun! And don't forget, we can always use more setup help!

That’s a great offer. We’ve so many folks at the Front Range and Arvada clubs to do that but I’ll mention this to some of the new shooters!

The roads leading to the facility or the roads inside the facility?

Inside. There are technically two roads into the East berms now. Both have a pretty big swale in them if you are driving a small car, so don't hit them hard. The front road that used to extend off the berm road is not a road anymore.

HELLO EVERYONE!

Hope Winter has treated you well! I don't know about you all, but I'm stir crazy and need to get some shooting in! What's better than starting the season off than with a Super classifier!

Wait what the heck is that you ask? Well you may or may not know but IDPA has 3 classifiers now...that's right three! And we are going to set them all up on the 24th (weather permitting) and go to war!

The Three Classifiers:

NEW 5x5 Classifier (http://www.idpa.com/compete/stagedetails/38)

NEW Standard Classifier (http://www.idpa.com/compete/stagedetails/39)

NEW PCC only Classifier (http://www.idpa.com/MISC/PCC%20Classifier%20COF.pdf)

Here is how this match is going to work - The standard match fee will get you a run at your choice of classifiers (the New 5x5 you get 2 runs, Standard classifier and PCC is 1 run), and you can get additional runs for $5 each! Classify on as many divisions as you want, as many times as you want. Shoot til you drop, run out of money, make Master class or 1:00pm - whichever comes first!

Setup for this match will be short so we are going to start running groups as soon as we are ready to rock...although the staff will be there as long as you guys/gals are willing to shoot.

How this is going to work with your scoring sheets is that you will need a fresh scoring sheet for each run, for example you want to run the 5x5 (2 runs with match fee), PCC and 2 more 5x5's - You will have (1) sheet for the initial 5x5, (1) sheet for the PCC, and (2) sheets for your two extra 5x5 runs for a total of 4 sheets. Match fee would be $20 (initial 2 5x5's) +$5 PCC run and $10 for 2 more 5x5's for a total of $35....make sense?

IMPORTANT NOTE - WE WILL NOT BE HOLDING A NEW SHOOTERS MEETING, AND DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS MATCH YOU WILL NEED TO ALREADY HAVE A SAFETY CARD FROM ECOIDPA OR OTHER IDPA ENTITY TO SHOOT (UNLESS YOU ARE A SEASONED SHOOTER OF COURSE)

With all that being said, hopefully the weather holds out and we can get back out on the range!

All the usual details are here: - And remember if you show up to help with setup you also save 5$ bucks!

To encourage new shooters to join in competition I will cover match fee for anyone new to competition.

Show up at CRC East berms(4th Saturday of month) before new shooter orientation(usually 830), find me or ask for me at stat shack(I wear a COAR15 hat or T-shirt to every match) I will help you get registered and set up for new shooter orientation and cover match fee for first match.

Applies to ECO IDPA matches at CRC only.

This offer does not apply to classifier as there will be no "New Shooter Orientation".

Will apply when we return to regular match in April.[AR15]

Looks like we should have pretty decent weather tomorrow, but the wind may pick up as the day goes on. Setup starts at 7:00 and we'll start running shooters as soon as we can. Please remember that because of the nature of the IDPA Classifier, we will not be able to accommodate new shooters this time. See you all tomorrow!

Thanks everyone for coming out to play yesterday! It was a fun day of classifiers (as fun as classifiers can be, anyway) and we had a handful of shooters earn themselves a bump. Make sure you look for your new classification to be updated on the IDPA website very soon, and congrats to those who made it to the next level! The results are below, separated by the individual classifier type. Remember that if you shot more than one semi-auto division, only your best run was uploaded to the IDPA website, as it will cover all the others. Also note that only current classifications are shown below (not the new ones). See you all next month!

Looks like it shoots pretty well. Were you expecting to come anywhere close to how you shoot with your 1911? I wasn't expecting to even come close with my carry.

I'm probably just projecting myself onto you though, as I've only fired maybe 50-60 rounds through my Shield.

buffalobo
03-26-2018, 12:50
Did not expect it to group as well as it did. Not very many rounds through it yet. Not much practice lately and struggled a little with my grip in the 1911. Usually no issue with accuracy shooting the 1911.

Hi everyone.

Sorry to do this but we won't have enough staff/BOD to hold a match next weekend. There are a flurry of activities, graduations, etc. that will keep most of us away. We should be back at full strength for the June match.

Thanks for your understanding.

Just a heads up, I am going to be running a High School Sport Shooting Camp at CRC on July 25-27. Several of them are going to come back and shoot the IDPA match on the 28th. While I have gear and guns for about 5, we would be most appreciative of anyone who has a spare 9mm pistol with belt rig that one of the High School students could borrow. The ammo we will use will be factory Aguila 124g FMJ.

Thanks again for running this match.

This is a well run match, and if you're thinking of trying it out, I'd encourage you to come out and join us. This match gets you five stages, and there are enough berms to spread out the groups and keep things moving. I've seen the attendence really drop off from this match lately and am wondering why. Come on out and give it a try.
