Hello All,
As some of you may know there was a test IDPA style match held out at CRC last month, and it was determined that we are moving along with another IDPA club due to a great turnout. We look forward to offering another IDPA Club for shooting enthusiasts to attend, as well as offering another classifier event to the Front Range area!
We look forward to seeing you on the range!
Info:
ECOIDPA - http://www.ecoidpa.com
Hosted at Colorado Rifle Club - http://www.crci.org/
When: 4th Sat of the month starting in April 2013.
Times: Setup - 8am ($5 Match fee discount for those helping with setup), New Shooter Meeting (Mandatory for all new IDPA Competitors) - 9am Shooters Meeting - 9:30am, First Shot - 10:00am
Cost: Match fee $20 ($15 if you are there and help with setup)
Questions: See the website or email the match director at kris@ecoidpa.com
I understand there are other events that fall on the 4th Saturday of the month, and the determination was made to hold the matches this day so that we are not conflicting with our fellow Colorado IDPA clubs. Unfortunately there was never a perfect day to hold the matches that would allow a conflict free situation across all the shooting disciplines.

Signed up for RO (second time I'll have that title; the first was unrelated); I'll make that on the 14th, but the 27th just got landed on by a nearly impossible work-related event. That weekend may turn into a 40 hour day if we can get all the preliminary preparations done; if not that job falls back to June 15th and I'll be at the meet.

No worries man, that's why I want a bank of RO's so when life gets in the way we have options. We'll see you on the 14th.

Ouch...Google group. Bad idea on so many levels I can't count them all. Please do not get my email anywhere near anything Google or Yahoo related.
I'll be there on the 27th, though. CenturyStink (formerly QWorst, formerly USWorst, formerly Ma Bell, but that worked so we had to break it up) doesn't even know it has an act, let alone have it together, so our date moved.

No worries; cheap is my favorite, but I'm a luddite.
No facebook page, either; one of the few things that compete with the U. S. Googlement in the "bad Idea" department.

You'll have to do it the manual way and check the website then I guess lol
I kin do dat. I'm on, around, using, or have available within arms reach a computer every hour of every day. That's why I like traveling to places that have crummy infrastructure or infrastructure that is incompatible with my portable devices; its my only escape.
That and books. I also like books; the kind with actual paper and covers and printed words inside. They appeal to my Luddite nature.
I just completely re-arranged the on-call rotation; I'm off 4th Saturdays for a while (and on second), so FRIDPA is an on-call weekend starting in about two months and ECoIDPA is free for pretty much the rest of the year. It doesn't always suck to be the HMFIC, just most of the time. Saturday is either FRIDPA or CRC, depending on weather. Sunday is RO (wife is getting archery training just down the road...pity I sold my bow).

I've update the links to the IDPA's new site on our site and I've added an "IDPA Required Equipment" PDF for reference. The staff of ECIDPA would like to have a firm adherence to IDPA's intention and rules. We hope of foster an environment of IDPA competition that will allow our club shooters to be proficient at other local IDPA matches across the nation as well as state and national matches. To this end, we've decided to take a firm stand in the equipment and procedural rules of IDPA. This PDF is a quick reminder of some key points about equipment as well as providing links to where to get such equipment and an additional link to the rules.
We will also be turning over the web-design to a professional who is on the match staff so we look forward to additional improvements as he has time to work on it.
You can find the main page at:
www.ecoidpa.com
The new equipment PDF is in the middle of the page and also can be found at this link:

Hi Jason, I started shooting IDPA in 2007. I have shot 10 or 12 matches, but none in the last two years, just to many people.I have a CCW and a FFL-03 C&R. I would be interested in some practice and any tips. Also never shot at CRC range. Im retired so the 7th or 8th will work for me.
Thanks John

They will be on the website tonight as well. Just waiting for SOMEONE to get off work so he can post them.
I will add my thanks to Kris and crew. Adding another sport is usually difficult...but this was really easy. The Club BOD asked CRCPS to bring in more sports and the guys who showed at the Feb test match have been a great addition. Keeping all the sports working together and growing is good for us all, the club and the facilities, props and targets.
We will be looking for a weekend day in late May or early June for an East range open house so you can all bring more new folks out to see what we all do for fun.[Beer]

I have some video (of me) from Saturday; conclusive evidence that I not only shoot glacially slow, I make the same mistakes I cited others for (no penalties, just cautions). Better clean up my own house before I get too carried away...
In any event, I plan to use the video to convince a few fence sitters to get the pole out of their...rectal sphincters and go shoot.

I was very pleased with my results for my first time. Once again many many thanks for the patience and guidance for us newbies. I learned quite a bit. Also, I have to thanks some folks for taking care of me in my unprepared state and loaning me mag pouches and a power bar. :D I will pay it forward.

Bump! Shooting the classifier tomorrow. How many bays are going to be set up? I've got a small babysitting issue and need to squeeze out early. I'm not too worried, of course. In April we finished shooting 1215ish and were completely done breaking down an hour later.
Planning on going tomorrow. Not exactly prepared for a classifier match, but oh well.
Thanks for a fun match! Does anyone have a link to the scores?

Ah. That is the super sekrit back route I was fortunate enough to be taught. It really does cut about 20 minutes out of the drive.
Seriously? I'll have to check it out. My comment about the mag change wasn't a dig by the way, just a suggestion. I remember one day either shooting a stage, or watching video of me shooting a stage and thinking, "Why am I looking around so much? I know where every is and where it goes." I think that is one of those habits that is difficult to break, since you generally look at The things you are doing with your hands.
Any idea when the results might be up?
Vanniek71: I just joined IDPA and PM'd you my member number like you suggested. Would mind writing my number on my score sheet before you submit it please?

I didn't take it as a dig and you are right. I just meant that I HAVE practiced many a mag change without looking. Granted, that was with my brokos belt and not that mag carrier I had on, but it shouldn't have made a difference. I was just rattled and and trying to get through it without a major screw-up and the little fundamentals I have developed went right out the window. Maybe I'll practice mag changes in the shower instead of singing.

If you want to improve your scores (reduce your reload times), your focus will be on the edge of the magwell during reloads. Of course if you have another reason or purpose to do it another way, that is certainly your choice.

Ah, yes. Well. There was a significant cross-wind that caused rounds to drift when engaging targets inside six feet. Had it not been for that wind I'm sure all of these shots would have landed on the mark. Climate change caused by global warming, which if you are paying attention only started when politicians gained access to wider audiences and could talk more often, caused a differential temperature and humidity gradient that deflected shots from around six to twenty feet. I blame Coriolis on everything out past twenty feet or so.
One of the advantages to being former military and gommint service is I know how to blame any and everything else but my own incompetence for anything that happens (or doesn't).
Vanniek, now that we've established that we can shoot two guns, make sure to remember to change the website to say $20 per gun, instead of $20 per shooter. Thanks for letting me shoot two guns by the way, and thanks for everyone that helped me facilitate that. I don't know that I'd do it again though, as it was a bit of a pain to keep changing guns and keeping track of mags and different calibers and such. Sure kept me busy all day though.
A fun match with a bunch of friendly people! Thanks again for organizing this great event!

Fun match with a good mix of field stages and standards tests. Gotta work on my weak hand skills, for sure. The Bear stage was a really cool way to repackage all of the fundamental elements of an El Presidente drill.
Scores are up. I wish I could remember which stages were which. I always forget the by times scores come out. I(ll have to start writing them down.

06-26-2013, 19:23
Stage 1 - Hard cover freestyle, strong hand, weak hand
Stage 2 - Charging bear
Stage 3 - Start with retention, switch to strong hand, then free style, then move and shoot remaining targets
Stage 4 - Hands on head start, and shooting moving targets as you moved to final shooting position
Stage 5 - The one we ran without cover, uspsa style
Hope that helps

Going to have to work; July isn't going to be a good month for matches even though I got a USPSA in while nobody was looking. Hopefully August will work out better.

I forgot to slap my hoe after I got out of bed... I love my white midget too much I guess.
I think we should have started that stage while holding a 40. And, I'm not talking about a Glock 22...
I hate it when I'm excited about having a fast day, only to find that everyone else had a fast day as well and I'm in my usual spot. I got fourth over all on Stage 3, but the margins on that stage were so close it didn't really help me get ahead.
I like that a lot of the shooters are right around my skill level.
Edit: Near last place on stage 2 really hurt me.

The weather is looking up for tomorrow's match at CRC, we just have to get thought this evenings rain. Should be clear and sunny with a high of 66 but plan for a cold start for setup. If anything should change I'll update you all here, but we should be good.
First I would like to thank J for the stage designs for the match tomorrow as well as Scott LaPaglia for his continued support with the new shooter orientation. As Kris had mentioned earlier, he and several of the other regulars will be out of town at the Utah State IDPA Match so I'll be standing in as match director. Please excuse my lack of participation over the first few months of Eastern Colorado IDPA's existence, I had intended to be much more active but medical issues had sidelined me. I'm looking forward to assisting with more matches from here on out. In order to help me out I'd like to ask one thing of the SOs and go over a couple items.
Since I don't know who all the SO's are I'd like to ask that all SO's that have been running squads or are comfortable being the primary SO please write a big "SO+" at the top of your score sheet when you hand it in. If you're an SO that would not like to be the primary SO on a squad please write a big "SO-" so I can pair you up with another SO to run the squad together.
If you're attending your first IDPA match, the new shooter meeting will start at9am and is mandatory. Please remember that CRC runs a cold range so no loaded firearms unless it's done at the direction of an SO.
Shooters meeting will start at 9:30am and will include a complete walk through all 5 stages with Justin providing the stage description so everyone hears the plan directly from the stage designer. As soon as we're done with the walk though we'll break into squads and get down to business at or before 10am as soon as the walk though is done. Please plan to arrive and be registered about 9amunless you're a new shooter and you should be registered by 8:30am
If you are shooting with others that would like to be in a squad together, please hang onto all your score sheets until your complete party is onsite and then register together and turn all score sheets in together with one of the corners dogeared so I can keep them together.
More details and directions to CRC can be found at the Eastern Colorado IDPA website: http://ecoidpa.com (http://ecoidpa.com/)
We plan to have the gate open and starting setup by 7:30am. Hope to see you all out there!
Thanks,
Jason
First I would like to thank J for the stage designs for the match tomorrow as well as Scott LaPaglia for his continued support with the new shooter orientation.
Unless the stages suck, then thank Scott for those too! [ROFL1]
Also, bring boots. The weather will be nice, but the ground will probably still be soggy/soft/muddy in the AM. Plan accordingly.
I was at the range all day today. Berms 1-5 are okay and not muddy. But the road between the fence and the berms is still a bit soft so please go slow and don't make any more ruts.
Just so everyone knows, the "new lathe" in the shed is ONLY for USPSA classifier stages. Last IDPA match most of them got used and now we have to cut new ones. The rest of the lathe goes in the yard and no shot up lathe goes in the shed.
The range clean up days are October 12 and 13 and the range will provide some workers, but it would be nice if a few IDPA folks could help one of those days. It does fulfill your workbond.
We are also looking at bids for Nooks so that all the match can be scored with Practiscore starting in January.
If you have questions, let me know.
Have a great match!
Mark, CRCPS President.

Hello all...
The match plans are coming along for October's match. Kevin will be doing the new shooters meeting and "J" will again be doing the stage design and waking us through them. As most of the setup help has been arriving at or before 7:30am, I've adjusted the setup time on the website. The new shooters meeting is pretty extensive to give the new IDPA shooters as much information as we can, so that's taking about 45 mins to cover. As a result we're bumping the new shooter meeting forward to 8:45am. New shooters please arrive prior to 8:30 for registration. Registration will close and the pre-match shooters meeting will be begin at 9:30am with the match start at 10am as normal. Below are the updated times.

Weather looks great with a crisp morning in the high 30's getting up to 60 degrees around noon. 5 Stages are planned. New Shooter meeting has been moved up to 8:45am. Shooters meeting a stage walkthrough at 9:30am. See you there!
Thanks,

I'll be there. Probably going to be a pretty poor scoring match. Haven't shot since July I think.

One more thing...
We'll be using the new rules tomorrow for the first time. To me the biggest change are:
- XD/XDm pistol are now in SSP as all striker fired pistols are SSP. So please sign up correctly in the morning.
- Shooters behind cover can not move during a reload regardless of type. Are reloads behind cover are required to be completed while the shooter is stationary
- If you run out of ammo while engaging targets on the move in the open you may reload on the move but you may not engage anymore targets until you reach the next cover point. If you ended up having to by pass non-engaged targets during that movement, that you can't safely engage from the next cover position, then you can't get points for those.
- Cover is your entire lower body and 50% of your upper for the center of the Down 0 section of the target you're engaging. Low cover requires on knee to be touching the ground.
If anyone has any other changes to list please post them up.

New Mexico State IDPA had stiff competition with some long, tough stages for IDPA. ECOIDPA shooters placed 1st and 6th ESP MM, 2nd ESP SS, 2nd SSP EX and 5th ESP EX. One of our FRIDPA homies placed 1st CDP MM. Our SSP EX placed highest overall at 9th of 106 shooters, beating two of the three Masters in the SSP division. At Utah State IDPA in September, ECOIDPA shooters finished 1st ESP EX, 1st SSP EX, 4th ESP SS and 5th ESP MM. Both of our Experts had one overall stage win each with six Masters present.

I might drive my truck anyway just in case.
Drove to the range this morning, there was about 4 inches of snow. Drove back by about 4. Still some snow in the berms, lots of melt.
I would plan for cold in the morning and wet and muddy towards the end. The sun will be out. Word of advice...the ground does not thaw much. Please use the crowbars to pull any stakes up on fault lines. Targets, PLEASE just one part way in to tag it in place.
We have been getting WAY too much damage of props because people are just tearing stuff down, throwing stuff around, without caring about the longevity of the equipment.

Pretty fun match today. Cool seeing the Air Force guys out there, but I wasn't on either squad so I didn't get to see how they shot. I guess they got to run capacity on the 17 round mags so some stages they didn't need to reload. Also great seeing a lot of my shooter friends out there that I haven't seen in months.

When is the next classifier?
Not 100% sure yet. We had ours around April/May I think? Will find out when FRIDPA's is and make sure it is a different weekend so it offers IDPA shooters a better chance to make one of the two.
I'm thinking of trying my hand at designing a stage. Are bowling pins allowed on the range? I imagine they would be treated like steal.
If you want to follow the rule book, no, bowling pins aren't allowed. But it isn't a sanctioned match, so, for me, I say bring whatever you can to be fun. Some might disagree.
I have a dozen pins if the powers that be decide to make a match with them.
I have 17 pins myself just sitting around. I'm heading up to Cheyenne on Friday and was thinking about swinging over to get them if they could be used at a match.
On a more serious note, if anyone that designs stages is reading, I'd like to see a little more single hand/weak hand stuff, especially right before Classifier.
Bowling pins ricochet really bad that is what I would be cautious of.

I would like to see more of this also!
Yeah, shooting at them with a .22 at even 50 yards and you don't really get any penetration.

Not only NO, but NO WAY! Don't even think about it. We have plenty of steel.
Okay, sounds good to me. I'm sure I could just as easily recreate my idea with steal. Thanks for answering Mark.

So, is next Saturday the day? The 22nd?
I haven't fired a round in competition of any type in over 15 years. Maybe a bit longer. Thought I might come out and give it a go.
I did have a couple of questions since the last time I shot IDPA was in probably in 1998.
First, about how many rounds of ammo do I need to bring to get through the match?
Second, I don't like being too hot so, depending on the temps that day, would using some sort of a mesh type vest for a cover garment be acceptable?
Finally, would one of you be willing to loan me a couple of mag pouches suitable for Sig P229 magazines?
Thanks.

I usually bring 200 rounds with and shoot just over 100
I dont know about the mesh covering for concealment so I will let someone else answer that but I'm assuming its probably okay.

Temp looks good for next weekend 59... wind looks like the suck though... 19mph. Hopefully that mellows!
With the 2013 rules change, it requires all stages to start as concealed unless otherwise stipulated. A cover garment that does not conceal would not be allowed as per the rules.
Just a reminder, CRC has a cold range policy, so you have to have magwell and chamber(s) empty until you are on the line under the control of the SO. That includes during set-up.
Temp looks good for next weekend 59... wind looks like the suck though... 19mph. Hopefully that mellows!
The called the SC match after 2 stages yesterday. I sat in a van with 3 friends waiting for it to subside after we had set up a practice stage for 3Gun. Never got stage run in. YUK.
FYI, the mesh vest I speak of is a trap vest. It actually has shell pockets on the lower portion. I'll have to get it out and check but I bet it will actually conceal a weapon rather well.
I might just look a bit silly since most of you probably wear some sort of "photographer's vest" of some sort.
When I shot IDPA, I wore a Sweatshirt or a Windshirt, which is what I actually wear on an almost daily basis in the winter. You can find inexpensive, loose fitting short sleeved warm up covers with back and underarm vents (baseball) at the used sports stores for like $10.
If you have not shot out at CRC when the wind blows, you might want to toss a gun cover and sand goggles in your range bag. They became permanent additions to mine after my first sandstorm out there.
I've been shooting at CRC for four or five years now so I am well aware of the potential for wind and dust.
As far as cover garments, maybe for this coming event I'll toss on a large, button down denim shirt and wear it unbuttoned like a jacket. Seems the trap vest I intended on using probably isn't going to work out very well.
I always just leave my shirt untucked.

That's kind of how I roll on a daily basis.

Copy from my email that went out, wanted to post here as well.
Hey all,
Sorry for more than 1 email this month, but I am excited! Weather looks like its going to be 70-75 and sunny, may have a bit of breeze, but its match time!!!!
This month is going to be a focus on standards practice for several upcoming classifier matches next month. Come out and get some practice in!
Match stages and round count is set, it will be 5 courses of fire/stages with a total minimum round count of 90.
And an FYI for you, the classifier matches are scheduled for the following clubs:
Front Range IDPA (http://www.coloradoshooting.org/fridpa.htm) - 5/10/14 Classifier
Pikes Peak Match (http://www.coloradoshooting.org/FRIDPA/FRIDPA_MatchSchedule.htm#Schedule-PP) - 6/22/2014 Classifier
ECOIDPA (http://www.ecoidpa.com) - 5/24/2014 Classifier
(Click names of clubs for more information on matches)
Also here is some good information about the classifier if you would like to study up. This is the one event where you can practice and the stages wont change before you get to the match!
Tips for the Classifier
Please review the Classifier CoF (http://www.coloradoshooting.org/FRIDPA/Classifier/IDPA_ClassificationMatch_v2.pdf)
90 rounds are needed for the Classifier
Bring all of your reloading devices (mags, moon clips, speedloaders...)
as you shoot others can reload them for you
Load your magazines to full capacity - this si the only IDPA match where you can do this! Take advantage of this time saver!
Everyone helping also makes for a faster Classifier, please:
tape targets
pickup brass

That was really cool meeting some of you guys out there today. I liked everyone in the group I was in, I had a great time shooting with you guys, and I look forward to doing it again.
Thanks everyone.

Good time again today. Good practice for next month. Some challenging stages.
OBC and the rest of the first timers did well and now have a new addiction to deal with.

Nice to meet you Otter. See you next time. Good shooting guys.
Thanks to all who organized the match, got there early and stayed late! It was a blast - see you next month!!!!
Thanks for a great match and to everyone who helped this FNG get through his first match. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to getting back out as soon as work -life allow.
Scores are up. I like the new scoring thing, having a bit of a time figuring it out, but I just need some more time with it. I really like the break downs for different categories. I placed second in my division, but only because the 10 people who shot better didn't put what their ranking was or haven't classified yet. This should be encouragement to go through a classifier!

I was showing my daughter how to use the airsoft gun when I got home, and you have to rack the slide every single time. As I was flawlessly operating the airsoft at lightning speed I thought, "This isn't as annoying as I thought it would be." Then I remembered how much practice I had a few hours earlier.

Fun match with some challenging stages. Got a few things to work on before the Classifier. Like the new scoring system, especially if results keep posting so quickly. Keep up the great work, guys.

Greeting all,
Next weekend is match weekend for ECOIDPA @ CRC! This month we are running the IDPA classifier!
Forecast is showing chance of Thunderstorm later in the afternoon, so hopefully we can sneak the classifier in before that happens!
Info you need/may want to know:
Please review the Classifier CoF (http://www.coloradoshooting.org/FRIDPA/Classifier/IDPA_ClassificationMatch_v2.pdf)
Tips for the Classifier
90 rounds are needed for the Classifier
Bring all of your reloading devices (mags, moon clips, speedloaders...)
as you shoot others can reload them for you
Load your magazines to full capacity - this si the only IDPA match where you can do this! Take advantage of this time saver!
Everyone helping also makes for a faster Classifier, please:
tape targets
pickup brass
reload mags
No concealment garment is worn
No reshoots allowed

Thanks to the FRIDPA guys for running 2 clubs in the front range area!

My very first IDPA match ever was the classifier last year. Come on out Ray it will be a great time.
I'll give it a shot if my schedule permits. [Awesom]
I'll be shooting my own reloads this time. While they actually feed fine, the chance of me blowing up as an amateur reloader are much greater I suppose. I only actually have the bare minimum amount of ammo for the match, so if I have to re-shoot anything I'll be down to the tap-rack-bang ammo I have and my scores will suffer tremendously.

If you were shooting the most common ammo you wouldn't have to worry about it. [Coffee][mop]
Or if I just drove to the store in the 6 days I have before the match, but I like to live dangerously.
Tore my handgun completely down and gave it a good detail cleaning and lubed it. Ready to go for the match this weekend.

Will do. I think my dog chewed yours up and I "salvaged" it from the back yard... But it's all yours now. I definitely don't want it any more. May require *some* cleaning and assembly.
I just emailed Kris. Berms 1-5 were dry for walking, but not driving when I got there this morning. The road between the wire and the berms has new dirt on it removed from the berms, so it is really soft. Please keep the cars off the berms and the berm road so they don't get all torn up again.
I just got back and it was getting hammered, so it might be a sloppy one going out.
Arrrgh. So we have to hand haul everything out. I hope we have a much better than normal showing of setup volunteers or this will suck royal.
Got all my stuff packed up and ready to go. Even remembered the ammo. [Coffee]
Hope I don't have to test out the four wheel drive on my new truck.
I've got a holster that I am bringing along that I can't use. It was supposed to fit a Sig 226/228 but it doesn't. At all. It really looks like it's made for a 1911. If anyone there is interested and it fits your gun I'll sell it cheap.
Here's a link. But, like I mentioned, it doesn't fit the Sig.

It takes 2 people maybe half an hour to set up the classifier. The parking lot is good, so carrying the stuff 50 yards or so should not be bad.

Now that I have Saturdays off, I really need to try and start getting into some matches (I've never participated).
This was the first match (of any type) I have shot in over fifteen years. Pretty disappointed in my performance. Oh, well. Still had fun. Looking forward to the results to see how I did.
Nice to finally meet you a Ray.
Irving, it is easy...shoot a lot of -0s...really fast. The first classifier I shot, it was kind of important to me, and I did not do well, shot SS. The second time, I did not care and shot Master. Caring has something to do with the mental. It keeps us from performing the fundamentals the way we are used to because we are amped up and we short out our own internal circuitry.
Ray, glad you had fun. That is what it is really all about anyway.

Man that sounds familiar. When I did EIB as a dumb young PVT I bolo'd out on grenades. When I did it a month before ETSing, completely not caring,, I got true blue.
Anyways yeah, good times today! I had fun, glad others did as well.
I wish I had taken a picture of my near zero target at 20 yards, on the weak side. 9 out of 10 in the zero ring, and the 10th shot dropped completely off the target. Talk about a face palm. Anyway, that target had a better group than the one I shot off a bag while I was testing the load.
Nice to finally meet you a Ray.

I'm sure a quick search would yield results, but how many rounds do ya'll go through during a match?
90 on the classifier, and most matches are around that count.
Depends on the match. And how much you miss. If you hit satisfactory (to you) with every shot the minimum round count is all you will need. If you miss some, you can choose to take the miss or re-engage the target on most stages.
Minimum round count is usually around 80-90 or so. Maybe 100 on a really high round match, but that is quite rare. I think we've had a couple matches with minimum round count down near 70 too. The max you can shoot on most normal matches (assuming not shooting 1911 or revolver) is 31 rounds per stage and 5 stages. So 155 rounds MAX for a normal match. Revolvers and 1911s have a max even lower. Every once in a blue moon there might be an issue that makes you re-shoot a stage, so add another possible 31 rounds MAX to that count. This is very rare but you should be prepared for it.
On typical match days, I usually end up shooting 90-100 rounds per match, and on a really bad day might go through 115.

Sounds doable to me. The next two months are spoken for, but I may have to try and make the August match.
You definitely should! If you do, let me know and if you want you can be on the squad I RSO. I give out penalties like candy on Halloween, but only to Spleify. He starts each stage with 3 penalties and works his way up from there! But you are safe.
I'm a firm believer that 100 rounds at an IDPA match are better practical training/practice than 500-1000 rounds at a static range.

What the hell? You got me right out of the gate. Some minor thing about me stopping to engage a target when I was supposed to be on the move.

Yeah but you got only one. Any you earned it by not following the COF. Spliefy got like 26 or something, most for being ugly or looking funny at any given moment.

I'm thinking the same thing as far as training is concerned, especially since I can't even get 500-1000 rounds static lol. Seems the most I get anymore is quarterly quals.
Quarterly quals... I take it you are .mil or LEO? If so, in IDPA you have the option to either shoot with gear that meets IDPA rules requirements, or in your full duty rig... whichever you prefer. Note that full duty rig includes all gear that you would wear on duty... holster, cuffs, mags, carriers, OC spray, etc all on during competition.

LEO, I should have looked into IDPA a long time ago, seems it could do me some good. Like those 15 minute circuit workouts that really kick your butt lol.
For sure.
Most duty gear doesn't meet the IDPA requirements... e.g. is wasn't designed for concealment. But you get the option to either run concealable gear or your full duty rig. I'm guessing you would prefer to do the latter to get better training for possible on the job scenarios, but the choice is yours.
ETA: I'm not trying to say that IDPA will train you for the crap you might run into on duty... but could be a possible piece to the puzzle for better training for such scenarios with your duty equipment. Hope it didn't sound like I was trying to equate what we do with the risks you take on in your job. For that I am grateful that you put yourself on the line for all of us.
There are some officers that are serious about shooting who I've seen show up and kick ass. I personally think every LEO should occasionally compete, time allowing.
The Air Force shooting team showed up to shoot a few matches ago. A few of them did very well.

Fun group in Squad 1. Shot my best score by 7 seconds, but didn't get the class bump it would have earned me last year. Dang new rulebook.
Fun day, unfortunately I shot my worst match EVER. I dont know what was wrong with me today. I did shoot a different gun that I am used to, but I can not blame my bad shooting on that, I'll just blame it on J instead

Fellas, ladies,
Here are the scores for today. The classification that it shows is what you classified at today. If you were previously a higher classification, YOU WILL NOT DROP DOWN, you will stay at the higher classification.
Uberscore is limited in how it does the classifier scores so I just went with the easiest.
This link does not contain the ESP classifications if you requested to have me submit it for SSP and ESP, that one is still in the works.
As usual thanks for coming out and shooting today!

And here are the scores for everyone that wanted to be submitted for SSP and ESP. Same rules apply to these scores i.e. I put what you classified today, if you are classified higher already you will not fall backwards.

Whoa, looks like I did 27 seconds faster than last year, not 14 like I had initially thought. Cool!
Looking at the scores, some of you need to slow down a tad and get your hits. It takes 0.1 to 0.3 seconds more for most people to shoot a -0. Goal should be to keep points down in the 25 or less range.
Dude, you were Keelpng score. How did you have a bad day?

Yeah but I wasnt scoring MY shoots, that was J doing it...
Either way that was a horrible day of shooting for me. Worst score ever for me. Oh well I still had a lot of fun.
35th out of 45 shooters. Not too bad of a start for my first time out. Could have been worse I suppose. (Right, Leif?) [Coffee]
Having zero time to practice will make any kind of improvements difficult. My DA/SA Sig didn't help me too much on some of those first shots. The weak hand shot fired DA was very awkward for me. Heck, even the one handed DA shots were a bit iffy. Might have to invest in a more game-oriented pistol if I am going to get into this.
I like that we can all come in here and whine about our scores together.

It is a good thing when the consolation is a good time(but it still sucks when performance doesn't meet ability).
Just wish I could dedicate more time to training/practice.
