My vote goes to Morton's or Del Frisco's
Thread turned from "Best Bang for the Buck Steakhouse" to "Best steak if you can afford it".[Coffee]
I Never order steak out, it's just to easy to make a great steak at home. Now Texas Roadhouse makes a killer Chicken Fried Sirloin! Speaking of Texas, if you're ever around Amarillo...

Go big or go home!
No I got a small steak, wasn't expecting much but it was seriously the best steak I've ever had. Maybe because they actually grill instead of broil.
Just never stay at their motel...shiver.
I've been to every high end steak place in town except Fleming's (a lot of vendor/client dinners for my job), and Capitol Grill is the best bang for the buck.
But overall (price not a factor), My opinion is this -
1. Morton's
2. Brook's
3. Shanahan's
4. Capitol Grill
5. Del Frisco's
Anyone been to "The Famous" in Colorado Springs? If so, is it worth the price?
The Famous is totally worth the price. Good atmosphere, great service, and perfect steaks.
Del Friscos filet mignon is #1. Nobody can knock them of their perch.
Agree with Bailey, have eaten at all of them and BlackHat is about the only one I will order steak at anymore, at least in the Denver area. Good value and I would put them up against any of the higher priced places in Denver. Del Friscos is close but a lot more coin.
I make a better steak than most of them and spend some time on the seasonings, temp and trimming for less than 1/4 of the cost. Plus the grilled twice-baked potatoes with cherry tomatoes and fresh jalapenos can't be had anywhere else except at my house.
If money is not a consideration the Canyon Chop House up here in Fort Collins is great. One of the best steaks I have ever had.

This place is decent too. http://www.steakhouse10.com/
Anyone tried this place before. I drive by it sometimes and have never gone in. Figured someone here has. http://www.denversteakhouse.net/
The Drover, Omaha, NE.
1. Ruth Chris' I know they closed the denver location but last time i ate there was in SLC
2. Sullivan's
3. Denver Chop house
4. Teds Montana
5. Outback
6. Texas Roadhouse
Big Texan is a tourist trap. I passed it by dozens of times over the past 14 years - family lives in Texas. Finally, I stopped in last year and had the ABSOLUTE WORST STEAK OF MY LIFE. It looked beautiful, but chewed and tasted like a bad roast. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Definitely not IMO.
For the money,
Briarhurst Manor or the Cliff House - both in Manitou Springs.
ETA:
For less money,
The Keg in Manitou Springs - never had a bad meal, reasonably priced, good atmosphere.
In a pinch,
Texas Roadhouse
Agree - best steaks come from home. Trouble is, finding a good piece of meat to start with.
That's called a good cook with a crappy piece of meat...... (last Big Texan post)
I must have caught Sullivan's on a bad night.
And, I agree with finding a good piece of meat. Not easy. I'm a spoiled Midwesterner where you don't have to go to a specialty shop to find one.
Costco's meat is very good if you've never bought it.
I'm a big Texas Roadhouse fan myself [Dinner]
Boom! There it is. We just went there for dinner tonight and this place was awesome. We had rattlesnake, rocky mountain oysters, ostrich, bison & Elk. Oldest restaurant in Colorado & and the history is incredible. It's like going to dinner and a museum all at once since they're celebrating their 120th year. The bar was made in Germany in 1837 and shipped over and then brought in by ox cart. The Colorado liquor license is literally #1. This place is great and if you haven't been you must go.

King soopers has terrible meat
terrible. (may be no better than safeway but i don't happen to shop at safeway)
King soopers meat if it was FREE would not be worth it.
Find a real butcher, they are around and get real meat. worth every penny. (Frank's in Longmont, Wally's in Broomfield, not sure of others)
Safeway has better meat than King Soopers. Costco is better yet (if you can stand the DNC donations). I'll go to the butcher shop for company sometimes but not always. [ROFL1]
The Palm is pretty good for an expensive chain.
Salt Grass for sure. The only problem is.. all of you have figured that out.. and now i have to wait to get a table!
Cooking at home. First choice is my local butcher, Gormet Meat and Sausage. I bought a side of beef and Im slowly working through that. If i dont want to wait to thaw something, Tonis or Costco.
Wont eat a steak from a grocery store, or worse yet, Walmart where my in laws used to buy steak from.
that steak house next to sapp bro east of cheyenne is pretty good but my favorite has to be the charcoal broiler on hwy 14 in ft collins
if you're buying beef at the big stores in colorado it is generally either coming from excel in ft morgan or JBS in greeley. while some stores might vary from what they get they are all generally the same grades.
i'm a livestock nutritional consultant so i like to get my beef from the feedlots i work with(specifically from one who's kid was on the university of wyoming cattle judging team).....some of the best beef you'll ever have for about 2-2.50 per pound 45 day aged and processed :)
Western trails out my way has great prime rib and steaks. [Beer]

I get my meat from Tonys Market in Castle Pines. However, the best alernative I have found which is less expensive is the Angus at King Soopers. I wont change my review on that. Next time Im up north Ill stop by one of the places you mentioned. Thanks for the recommendations.</p>
Ranch foods direct in the springs has great quality beef and buffalo meat. They also deliver.
Went to Shanihan's last night for my B-day. Had a pretty good NY strip. Their house salad balsamic vinaigrette is very nice with a fresh basil flavor. The lemon cake for dessert was dynamite. I need to go back to Del Frisco's to compare again. That's my usual go-to for a fancy evening out.
I usually do steaks at home. No need to fire up the grill. I use a smokin' hot cast iron skillet that's preheated with the oven to 500 degrees. Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper on the steaks and pan seared on the range with a little butter for several minutes on each side and then into the oven for a few minutes to finish. Let the meat rest for a few minutes before you cut into it and it's very tasty and juicy.
The wife knows someone who's in the meat business and in addition to Tony's, they also serve many of the Sam's clubs in the area. Their choice Angus meats are very good.
I also get my pork loin ribs from them and they are dynamite.
Grass fed Black Angus that I get from my brother in MT every year ($2.65/lb last year, processed, wrapped & frozen. We buy either 1/2 or whole steer) , Canola oil, sea salt & cracked pepper, grilled on my grill. Drop a spat of real butter on and rest 5 minutes.
Teds Montanna Grill - Belmar.
EIGHT MIN PER SIDE.!!!!!!!!!![Bang] SON THAT'S A HANGING OFFENSE
A great place when you have extra coin
REVOKED?? see my reply. He should be hanged. If it ain't bleeding , mooing and still kicking you just made beef jerky.
For a "real" butcher we drive to Arapaho Meats in louisville. Friend of ours (Dustin) owns the place and the steaks are cut with your fork. The pork chops are nice and juicy too.
When you pay $12+ for a nice cut of meat for us it's worth the drive.
I see there's a "butcher" on Harmony rd i want to check out. Also Choice City Deli (been a while) has some very nice cuts of meat.
My house, my precut 2" ribeye, on my weber, with my apple wood, best steak in town
