Driving home from the airport right after it was legalized it hit me like a wall. People were driving worse than normal too...hmmm...
......but it's legal maaaaaaaan, it's legal........
I smoke cigs, so I have to go outside on break. Even while im smoking, I can smell weed. There are 4 grow houses within a stones throw of the plant. It's gross.
I love working in the Oil Field.
They all still drug test, and fire immediately for it. I don't have to deal with any of the damn druggies.
Anytime I am out riding though, I absolutely smell it, and I hate it. It really makes me want to tell the idiots off, but I know it won't do any good.
Its why I left New Amsterdam.
I never cease to be amazed at the idiocy of many pot smokers who believe they can't be fired or are restricted from hiring because they smoke pot. The typical response is this:
Those folks don't see how many jobs need the employees completely mentally unimpaired for safety reasons or that an employer maintains the right to set their own drug use standards.
I guess I'm glad I gave up riding well before pot got legalized here.
I'll bet it's still a neat place to visit; briefly.
No pot heads working for my company. We're regulated by a list of government entities as long as your arm. I even remember the DOT sending out an email when the stuff became legal specifically saying it was still forbidden.
Oh, and I rode a bit this afternoon and didn't smell any pot.
Very few pot-heads working in my organization. We do frequent no-notice drug testing. [Coffee]
I have to confront people outside in the smoking areas of the casino all the time to tell them to stop smoking it. They seem to forget that it's legal to smoke in your own home, not "everywhere".
Frankly, I don't give a rats ass what you do in your own home.
These "nice days" in my neighborhood are ruined by the stench. I'm not anti pot but that doesn't mean I want to smell it all the time.
I don't ride a motorcycle, but I do ride a ton of bicycle and run. I've been smelling it in the parks for years. It is amazing how much of Lookout Mtn smells. [thumbdown]
Yesterday coming into work East on 6 right at the end after the 25 interchange, I saw a dude just vaping away in his car unashamed. Seriously?
Well, the wife and I got the bikes out for a bit today and I smelled pot several times.

We need to do a forum ride with all the riders we have here! I'm free most weekends, I'll also be free 3/30-4/3.
I work near 6th and I25. So many grow houses right there the smell is permanently in the air.
I was down near 2nd and Bryant awhile back picking up some parts and the whole area smelled like when a skunk gets under the porch and dies.

I would soooo much rather smell weed wafting around than get a big whiff of dog food, factory farm cow shit, crack, meth, raunchy B.O., waste treatment. puke, baby poo, the scent of a refinery or a cloud of cigarette smoke to the face (and yes, I smoked menthols for a LONG time) when I least expect it.
There's shitty drivers, shitty neighbors, shitty co-workers with or without weed- legal or not. Life does not come personalized with a cherry on top. Sometimes it smells, looks and feels funny.
If there comes a time I feel I am in danger due to the actions of someone either smoking weed, or clearly high on it, I will say something to them and remedy the situation. Until then Colorado is going to smell of pot and compared to other problems we humans are surrounded with on the daily, I'd say this is maybe closer to the bottom of the list of worries- at least for me.
That's your preference Lucky. Personally, I'd rather smell an honest ranch than weed. It's not something I enjoy when I first get a whiff but it's a smell of American heritage and of productivity. The smell of weed ... not so much. For most of the smells you listed, we have the luxury of riding off -- not so much when it's omnipresent in your neighborhood. Further, dog food, cow shit, BO, waste treatment, puke, baby poo, and refinery smells haven't been shown to have any effect on your mental processes, personal safety, or security clearance. Well, okay, smelling most of them all dang long probably WILL have an effect on your mental processes but not for biochemical reasons ...
Unfortunately, there's no perfect place to live. Every place has its bad points (gun laws, totalitarian laws, hurricanes, tornados, liberals, etc.) and most of them have their good points. Since I'm down in the Springs, the noxious omnipresent smell of weed around Denver isn't one of my top worries or irritants.

Could be worse, you could be "smelling" pepper spray.

(Don't mean to hijack thread, just figured the above link isn't worth a thread of its own but figured this was sort-of a good fit :P)
Where the hell are you riding? I've never smelled it while I rode.
The strongest stench was along 6th Ave as I was heading in to Denver from the shop in Lakewood. I frequently end up in the warehouse district in the area of I-70/Monaco while in my truck and it reeks.
I smell it twice a day, every day between Colorado Blvd and Quebec on I-70.
Just rode through Castle Rock right now and didn't smell any. I have a house for sale in CR if you are tired of smelling it in Denver :)
No pot where I work either but man my boss is a real cranky di@k sometimes so maybe it would do him some good to go back to the old high school days. [Coffee]
Well, the last of my pot smoke wafted east about 15 years ago, so I feel no guilt. [Flower]
The smell of "burning" pot is an enforcement issue. The law is that you can smoke in your home. Not on the sidewalk if front of your house or while walking down the street. Certainly not while driving.
Grow facilities are another issue. I'm sure the government will come up with some stink tax eventually. Won't eliminate the smell, just raise money for more bullshit programs.
I drive all over the state, all day long, about every day, and I don't know if I've ever smelled pot. I've smelled it walking by dispensaries or grow facilities, but I'm talking about walking on the sidewalk immediately in front of the place.
The thong about the law change is that now any time there is a suspicious smell, people just assume it's weed. Neighbor across the street grows weed and I've never once smelled it. BUT anytime there is a skunk, my other neighbors always say, "Smell that? It's that weed from down the street!" When it is very obviously a skunk.
