Anyone ever get one? I heard you don't have to pay a red light or speeding ticket unless a cop physically hands it to you.

I got one and had to pay it.
Trying to find the news article where its only valid if the cops hands you the ticket.
I researched this a few months ago when the wife was busted for running a red light.
Basically you have to hide out for 90 (?) days. Don't answer the door, watching for cop cars parked in your neighborhood when you're coming & going, etc. If your out mowing the lawn and they stop by then you just got tagged not only with the ticket but now with additional fees.
If your a single guy in an apt. go ahead and give it a try. Kids and spouse potentially could sort of complicate things if everybody isn't on the same page.
I paid, it was easier than hiding out for 3 months.

I got a speeding ticket via camera up in the Fort. It was like $40 so I just paid it.
I didn't contest it since in the picture I was pulling on a Coors Light. Figured I wouldn't push my luck!

Deagler,
If I understand what you just posted, someone else was driving your vehicle and they sent you the ticket. If that is correct, you can send in a copy of your driver's license and sign the form stating you weren't the driver at the time of the ticket and they will dismiss it.
DON'T PAY IT
the law says you have to be personally served.
Now they can charge you for serving you and then you do have to pay it, but it simply doesn't happen. They have other $hit to do than chase down a $40 ticket.
tear it up, throw it away.
Haven't paid one yet.
Paying them because it's just a little bit of money encourages this bullshit revenue crap and makes it profitable. If everyone stood up just a little and stopped licking boots, this $hit would stop.
Just get rid of them like they did here in the Springs, something about them not helping or some bullshit like that.
I had one of those cameras flash me in the eyes so I almost wrecked...fing stupid devices. I never got a ticket. Whats next robocops? Wish some taggers would go spray all the cameras!
don't send them shit
they sent you a not legal form
if you send something back, you are admitting that it's ok and then YOU have to contest it.
What the state is doing isn't legal by it's OWN DAMN RULES.
DON'T PAY IT.
DON'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT
just tear it up and throw it away.
They had a story on this and the photo vans on Fox news. Even the news caster said he throws them away.

They just send them out and hope the sheeple will pay, trash it. dont answer the door for strangers for 90 day's, (someone that looks alot like me did this a couple of times) and they never came knocking. I have renewed my dl since and have never heard from them. and I have to turn in a dmv record every year for work as well, and they have never shown up. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a lawer I dont even play one on tv,this is just my opinion, do as you please. below is a video on the subject.

Thanks guys!
I WAS taken to collections for not paying a no front plate parking ticket I received in Denver.
I know, I just wanted to put it out there in case anyone else has any. I figured I'd call their bluff. The city of Denver owns their own collections agency. So they ticket you, then turn it over to their collection agency and get 3 times the price.
Aren't there stats that show that there are more traffic accidents near red light cameras because people jam on the brakes when the light turns yellow, causing rear end crashes?
The cameras are just revenue generators. No clue on the legality of blatantly not paying though.
They never actually sent me anything that said that they sent me to collections, just that BS about how ever 30 days I didn't pay, I now owed more and more money. I eventually saw it as an active collection on my credit report though, and ended up paying it. I was totally set on NOT paying it, just based on principle*, but I wanted to try and get a house so I'm trying to keep my credit as clean as possible.
*The principle being that how F'ing DARE Denver tell me that I owe THEM money for not having a front plate on my car. It is against their rule, but they are not out any money for me having done so. It is RIDICULOUS for them to tell me that I owe MORE money, because I didn't pay them when they asked. It's not the same as defaulting on a loan or not paying for a purchase. Denver didn't lose money because I parked with no plate, and fuck them for telling me that I owe them MORE, for not paying what I never owed in the first place.
**Cops, yes I know that is against the law. I don't care.
a parking ticket is issued by a actual officer, totally different story than a photo ticket that is issued by a contracted private company and sent through the mail. plus a parking/plate ticket is not a moving violation and is tied to the vehicle, a red light/speeding ticket is a moving violation and tied to the operator.
NO, what happens is (and it's well documented) is that they shorten the yellow light time, which causes accidents.
It's well proven if you want to reduce accidents at an intersection you just increase the yellow light time (and it's a tiny increase)
but
of course
that raises no more money for the ever growing state.
Doesn't seem as though it's worth it to not pay $40-$60 and have it screw up your credit.
"I have no memory of receiving a citation and you have no signature or other evidence I received one. Your Honor, do we have a witness from the Postal service here?"
That worked in a call a friend got from the City of Denver- but it was for a parking ticket. They told him "The parking enforcement officer (gag) placed the ticket in your door." He replied "there was nothing in my door, there was nothing anywhere on my car indicating that I committed any parking infraction." Dismissed...
YMMV
This would be my defense. I have not received one yet (knocks on wood) but I will not pay them. I am not paying for ANYTHING that I did not sign for. $40 is half a tank of gas for my truck. IIRC, at one time there was a thread on this kind of tickets and seemed like 50% of the people did not pay them and had no problems.
