I will Friday
Mailed Mine in!!!! Get out there and vote everyone.[Poke]
U vote for O, yo?
[Coffee]
I'm waiting til election day. For some reason I feel really good about voting in person while wearing my gun. It's very American to be able to do that.
Mine's going out in Monday's mail! I hope Carl aka Bailey has to change his Avatar!! [Coffee]
Call me old fashioned but I prefer to vote on Election day (for one thing I don't have to worry about some damn dirty democrat poll worker throwing away my mail in ballot).
(yes, I just intimated that democrats may be simians).
Anyway, the wife got her mail in ballot so I'll go through it with her so I can have a cheat sheet when I get into the "booth" (its not really a booth here, just a little desk with cardboard wings ... I like the old lever style voting machines of my youth).
i voted today as well[Beer]
I don't trust the mail in process either.
Who cares. We (the people) can all vote one way but if the electoral vote goes the other way then the majority loses anyways.
The cost of a stamp won't break my piggy bank. But, on second thought, maybe I have a good lawsuit in there somewhere. If asking someone to show a photo ID to vote is deemed to be some way of discouraging voter turn out the having to pay for a stamp should fall under the same thing.
As far as actually getting out and going to the polling place... I've got better things to do with my time.
I'll mail mine in until I can figure out the details of my lawsuit. I might wait until I see the election results before I decide to file. [Coffee]
I wish they had a way for me to vote on-line. I can file and pay taxes on-line, I can bank and pay bills on-line. Why can't I vote on-line too?
If i wanted to get anal[er] than i am, sometimes. Sure it is only $0.65 for a stamp. However requiring you to pay to vote, no matter how small the amount is illegal.
IF "urban" areas were required to to vote by mail only, imagine the lawsuits due to "underprivileged" having to pay, Anything.
Farfetched?? 2 words

I'd argue that banking and other financial activities online are rife with danger and risk (which is why I refuse to do it) And that the banking industry is lying to you about how safe it is because its a ton cheaper for them (even if they get ripped off occasionally or have to pay out on more errors to customers). Also in banking if there is an error (simple mistake or criminal activity) they can eventually make it right but in an election what are you going to do, yank the "winner" out of office because a few of the votes for him were fraudulent? Every election would end up decided in the courts and probably not reflect the will of the people.
The massive increase in identity theft is a direct result of all the "secure" things people do online these days.
And that's from people OUTSIDE of banking. Just imagine the evil that crooked people INSIDE banking can do, then extrapolate that to an election (in which it is illegal to tie a vote to a name which is the final bit of security in online financial transactions) and we'd never have a legitimate election in this country again. Just look at how easy it is for them to cheat with the electronic machines at old fashioned polling locations. Go read here and shudder: http://www.blackboxvoting.org/
No, I think we need to make registering and voting harder. No mail in ballots (unless you have a legitimate need for an absentee ballot), no "early voting" and certainly no online voting and no automatic registration when you apply for government assistance or a drivers license.
If you can't be bothered to take a few minutes out of your day on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November every four years, you really have no business voting.
The easier it is to register and the easier it is to vote, the easier it is to cheat. Period.
That said, I have no beef with those of you that take advantage of the "early and often" voting options available today, but if I ever get put in charge I'm gonna make you drag your lazy asses down to the polling place (where you're going to vote on some sort of mechanical/paper voting machine ... touch screens are too easy to cheat with).
Unfortunately, our president isn't elected by a majority of votes from it's citizens anyways. So, whether people vote early, by mail, in person, or whatever and whether there is fraud taking place or not, it really is somewhat irrelevant since it is the electoral votes that choose our country's leader and not the popular vote.
No matter how many people turn out and vote, and no matter how those people vote, a candidate only really needs 270 votes to win.
But he/she needs a buttload of votes to get those 270 votes.
The fact the president isn't elected by direct majority isn't unfortunate, it's a direct result of excellent planning and intentional structure by the Founding Fathers. The Electoral College system is still the best in the world; without it, NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. would make the rest of the country irrelevant and even more powerless than we are now.
The fact of the matter is that electors have very VERY rarely ever not voted in accordance with the wishes of the segment they represent. This "popular vote" hoo-hah is more garbage dug up by the Democrats as a response to their unsuccessful attempt to steal the 2000 election.
Voted Wednesday night from work. Ray I beat the system, I figured if I had to pay for 2 stamps (wife & mine) I would vote working my contractor position with the .gov . I only wished it could have been one of my working holidays [Stooge]
No one ever said exercising your rights is or should be free. That's the biggest argument I have against people who claim they should get taxpayer funding to spread their "artistic message". They'll find private funding if their artwork really has value -- if not, we're better off not having these eyesores in the public.
Put some gas in your tank, a stamp on your envelope or get your local political party to give you a ride. :P
Oh hell, I think you all are missing the point of mail in ballots. First you mail in your ballot and then go and vote on election day as well. I have heard a few people talk about this and it pisses me off.
I did the best of both worlds. I got my mail-in ballot last week, thought about each and every vote (including researching the judges) before sealing it this weekend and personally dropped it in the C&R's box just before lunch.
I've had bad experiences before with USPS: my 1996 ballot was received with plenty of time to spare, and sent in (using the local post office's drop slot) almost as soon as I got it. It took the local post office (located 1.5 miles from my townhouse at the time) 3 weeks to then deliver that ballot back to me (despite the ballot saying deliver HERE not THERE). I drove back over to the post office, emphasized the delivery address and mailed it again -- only to receive it back again, this time from the COLORADO post office only 1 day before the election. Good thing that election wasn't a squeaker like this one.
I dropped mine in the ballot box at County building for Broomfield. They started early voting. The nice lady pointed me to the nice green box then gave me a sticker Yeah! [Beer]

Sunday was the day for the Family talk about what is on the ballot. Most were easy but the MIL was so confused about a few things.
Here in El Paso county they want to extend the "Temporary" road building tax that they promised in 04 would be temporary
They like to use the words "No new taxes" when they used the words "Not Permanent" to get us to vote on it the first time. I guess they think we are stupid. If they would have completed 50% of the projects they promised that would happen the first time I might go along with it.[Flower]
I went along with 1A but drew the line on 5A. Think about the projects they're taking credit for and ask yourself if you really want more of that. Woodmen/Academy overpass? Needed but horrendous design and poor execution. Union/Austin Bluffs overpass? Were they all on MMJ prematurely when they did that design? At the end of the day, 0.5% sales tax is a small enough gradual bite to be just about unnoticeable but I just don't think PPRTA deserves extension based on past performance.

I voted today- in person of course! Thank God for that early voting so I could get it out of the way...
And for Jeffco- I highly recommend if those of you who have yet to cast your votes (GO ROMNEY! Obviously), just say NO to 3A and 3B, trust me, it's a big tax increase... And I did vote Yes on Amendment S, and no to 64 and 65.
Now, get out there and exercise your patriotic duty and VOTE! [Beer]
