I was told that, under executive order, sheriffs can be removed from office due to insubordination during an "emergency" defined as "public unrest." Or they could be discredited and replaced. The Democrats are well known for their history of dirty tricks against the opposition.
Executive Orders may only be issued to offices under direct control of the Executive Branch. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a County Sheriff reports to the President.
