Me too, back in the day. It looks like I will be in for yet another uniform before I hang it up.

Well remember, thanks to Obama's (oh sorry, those damn republicans) Sequestration, we have to furlough DoD civilians, but we're gonna spend millions developing new uniforms...makes sense. I had the poor luck of coming in on the tail end of BDUs right when they introduced ACUs... Got all brand new (the crotch blow out kind) ACUs but my field jacket, TA50 and ECWICS was all BDU. Got out right before the switch (deployment only) to Multi-cam- and that was the one I really liked! Still pretty jealous of the Marines though, I really like the woodland MARPAT.
As for the deployment stuff- my dad came up with a pretty good explanation:
"So where in Afghanistan is your son stationed?"
"FOB Shank. You know, Shank, like a wild golf shot, or what one Mexican does to another Mexican in prison."
