Don't eat a lot of fast food, but am forced to on occasion, like lunch at the gun show . I've had In-N-Out twice while traveling in CA. Not really impressed at all.

I will say that recently I stopped at a Wendy's late at night in SLC in lieu of chewing my arm off and the Pretzel burger they had on a special was pretty good.

The only In-N-Out burger I had was in Arizona (Where there are more conserative values leading to better employees and better quality product?)

and the fries were great, since they were a whole potato about 10 minutes before they were in my posession... and the burger was done right, and was good quality!

I think your problem is with CA, not with the chain (but they're based out of CA)

If it was SoCal or SF then yes. However i was in central CA where EVERYONE I met had a gun, including their kids. Zipping up and down the roads on their atv's ARMED. So i'd ruled the CA out of it.

Yeah we have internet access too. Checked out the secret menu, prior to pulling in to the parking lot.
Face it, they have shitty burgers and like other business' stay open, because of the name.

So how do the burgers at the places mentioned compare to say at Red Robin?

At one time In and Out was special because all other burger places served Mc Donalds quality crap. But times have changed and there are better places that out do In and Out. I would take Smash Burger or Lark Burger or even Goodtimes over In and Out. I and O is just overrated and coasting on nostalgia.

I like Red Robin's burgers. Smashburger and Crave are good too but IMO they get kind of crazy with the toppings and mixes. Never tried In-n-Out and frankly am not even curious about them. Five Guys is totally overrated ... their beef has no flavor and the buns are insubstantial, Wonder Bread with a pseudo-crust.
