Last week I went in after work and got 3 boxes of the M22 22lr (3000 rounds) at 8th St.
I saw 500rd boxes of American Eagle 7.62X51 at the Woodmen WalMart last weekend.

Anyone else notice the 420rd can of 5.56 at Walmart went up in price $50?
I think it only went up $25? I guess it depends on when you last bought one. ~6-8 months ago it was $175 pre tax.
Last one i bought was $150 less then a year ago.
I dunno... I can still find mk262 online for the same pre-idiocy price. I guess that is where I am trying to understand everyone that has to get ammo locally. I understand buying local and supporting the local economy, but when they don't have what you need or are charging way too much, free market is your friend.

Talked the the girl at the gun counter at e woodman Walmart this morning. She said that she had seen the 1k round case of .223 recently, but did an inventory check for me and they didn't have any. She didn't know when they would be getting more. Price was $370 (I think).

I went to Cabelas in Lone Tree last night and holy hell! Manna from heaven! They had tons of ammo all over, all types and sizes. 5.56 took up three shelves and was decently priced. Between $.40-.50 a round depending upon bullet type. 55, 62 and 75 grain. Cheap steel cased to cheap brass cased to good quality stuff. No limits with the exception of .22.

Got to Chicago yesterday. I stopped in about 4 Walmarts across Nebraska, 3 in Iowa and 3 in Illinois. Before you judge, I was traveling alone without a rigid time schedule and taking the opportunity to do research for the group here. Besides, it was a way to stretch my legs and take care of business.
Anyway, I am happy to report, the ammo situation in Colorado is not a fluke. Nebraska was similar to Colorado with plenty of shotgun, good selection of center fire rifle and handgun, but no 22. A few of the counter tenders said they had some 22 that morning but it was gone pretty quick. As I went further east, the shelves got thinner. Iowa had less rifle and handgun ammo around. Illinois shelves were really bare and I got some pretty pissy responses when I asked about it.
It looks like Colorado is a bit better stocked then our neighbors.
I went to Cabelas at 144th and I25 today. They were out of most of the 50 round or bigger packs of .223. They had plenty of handgun ammo so I picked up some .40.
