You're right - there are just some folks that you can't get to see reality standing right in front of them; it sounds like this woman is one of those folks. I've known plenty of folks like that through the years and feel a certain degree of hopelessness for each of them.

Well, true sometimes one can't convince someone else of the obvious, but other times one can...

Take my wife for example. When I met her she was a good, gun hating Democrat. Since she professed to have an open mind, I called her out. I asked her to at least try shooting and if she didn't like it, I wouldn't bug her about it again. Well, I took her to the range and after the requisite safety lessons, I put an old Ruger Single-Six in her hands. She did OK with it and after about three cylanders of .22 LR she says,"I'd like to try that black gun." I said, You mean my .45? She says, "Yeah, it looks kind of dangerous"..

Well, wanting to encourage her I explain it's operation and tell her "have at it!" First mag was all over the place. Second mag was a little better, and by the third mag she was stitching with my Sig. She exclaimed, after shooting all 200 rounds of hardball I brought, "Holy Shit, that was FUN!!!" She has been one of us ever since...

Sometimes, we win a convert over to our side...

Sometime later we went to see my dad at the Shootin Den about a pistol for her. She told my father that she found it empowering as a woman to know how to use a firearm and that shooting was more fun than she could have imagined. I swear I saw a tear in his eye. Anyway, later that night he brought over about 1200 rounds of .40 Smith from his personal stash for her to shoot. See, one has to give guidance and support to a fledgling convert...
