The judges who allowed "fees" to be allowed as "not taxes" should have been recalled, disbarred, and some more things that aren't allowed to be said on polite forums.

More incentive to CIP CIP for some. Not that I'm condoning that or anything.

I believe you’re confused. The current CBI fee is $6. The ten dollar thing you’re thinking of is the fee the law specified for the private party transfer.

    Currently $10 fee plus $6 CBI = $16

    Now $10 fee plus $15 CBI = $25

How does the state justify such an increase? If nothing else the economy of scale should keep the price low. Where else is there a fee to exercise ones right? Also surprised that the computer age hasn't made this less expensive. No way in heck does it cost anywhere near this to do it. Unless you use less than honest accounting.

Doesn't Colorado's new minimum wage hike law go into effect on January 1st? Maybe CBI is using minimum wage folks for the background check and they're trying to recoup the cost of the Liberal fantasy "hiking minimum wage is good for everyone" idea.

TABOR stands in the way of every other increase to state revenue. That the discussion of doubling the price to hunt and increasing the cost to purchase guns happens to affect those most likely to maintain TABOR may or may not be a coincidence. It probably is though, because TABOR seems powerful enough to block enough tax hikes that this kind of death by fee increase will infiltrate everything possible and will transcend political boundaries.

Discourage your rights and transfer of wealth. The plan has always been the slow erosion of rights and taxation of wealth until both are gone.

    Another step on the path.

I'll have to move to Idaho....

Seriously though, this is ridiculous. Agreed that it is a tax to exercise a person's right, in my opinion

Information Technology doesn't create a profit, but a drain. Ever increasing costs of hardware, software, security and people to support all that. Unfortunately it costs $'s.
