New security at Buell theater

As to the ccw Denver has to and does follow the state shall issue law. A good friend got hers last month, took almost the full 90 days.

I know this view is not popular here, but I believe that any "open to the public" public or private venues/businesses/arenas should ONLY be able to restrict legal carry when the following are in effect:

- Full screening at ALL entrances for ALL personnel EVERY TIME. Letting the employees, performers, roadies in and out the back entrance with just an ID lanyard while John Q. Public gets the rubber glove at the main entrance is not an acceptable security posture.

- Mandated levels of armed security and liability insurance.

- Provide secure storage for patron and customer weapons while they are on the property.

The above would apply to any location where the public expects to gain access, ticket or not. It would not apply to private homes or SECURE businesses like Lockheed Martin Waterton Canyon, but definitely would apply to any mall, theater, store, sports arena or performance venue.

Being able to restrict citizen carry should be legal, but PAINFUL...

It's not just not carrying while attending an event, it's not being able to carry from a lot to a venue that is also a non-starter for me to go anywhere.

Vegas (concert) aside, I expect that a future “big event” will probably be at a sporting event like MLB or NFL, and it won’t be guns.
That being for terrorists obviously, not whatever it was we saw in Vegas. No idea if it’ll be trucks or planes or what, and I don’t think a place like the Buell theater is a big enough target, and probably not NBA/NFL.

I still like going to the Avalanche on occasion, and Coors field on even more rare occasion and I agree with you completely - but, food for thought.

Also completely agree with the sentiment of us going through half-assed detectors, and low-level hot dog sellers rolling through the back with the lanyard ID. BTW, I have an almost 2 year old who has seen a lot of hockey for her age. Which means I have a diaper bag. I don’t [bring contraband], but I have 100% certainty I could smuggle just about anything in. 1 in 5 bag checkers does a real job, and everyone is annoyed with the 1. (Me too)

I agree! If a person is going to create a security vacuum, he has a moral responsibility to fill it. Should be civil and potentially criminal liability for failing to do so.

We all know why the Buell has this policy. There hasn't been a rash of "gun violence" at the theatre. Denver's Lib elite aren't comfortable with their political enemies carrying anywhere near them. Same reason Denver Co won't issue CCW.

Your evidence is pretty weak due to being old and outdated. Denver may still be intentionally slow issuing but that still does not make your statement true. Any evidence that "Denver won't issue"?

Sorry Skip, not trying to beat you up but your statement was too far out there. I agree completely with rest of your original post.

We all know Denver's rulers do not want us to be armed at all in any way.

I personally think the changes at Buell are driven as much by production companies who bring these shows as by local morons who book them.
