I always wear mine. No injuries like bigbear, but when I was 17 i was racing my friend, hit gravel on 85/87 and ended up in a ditch by the railroad tracks. I was in the backseat though. That taught me how stupid I was. Also the fact I was driving a 78 gremlin and he was driving a 70 challenger made me stupid too.

Especially hits home on the eve of father's day. Good share!

Anyone who can be convinced to wear their seat belt by some commercial is too dumb to worry about in my opinion.

So you apparently don't mind being micro-managed and having your rights dumped on? Do you work in government?
It's my f-ing business if I want to wear a seatbelt or not. I guess you probably think it should be against the law to ride a motorcycle right? They are much more dangerous than not wearing a seatbelt in a car... I do both so I guess I'm a real outlaw..

No personal stories, but 2+ years on an ambulance.

It should be a law, for the sake of the EMTs. People who don't tend to end up nasty, and we don't need to see that!
In all seriousness though, some of the wrecks I've been to with seat belts on amazed me that people walked away. Some without amazed me that people died. Needless to say I always wear mine, see enough people assuming room temperature, who were all doing the same thing, and one learns real quick.

I guess the sarcasm of it didn't quite come through. My point is, people who don't wear their seatbelt, and reckless motorcycle riders, are what EMT's refer to as "organ donors." So buckle up, ride safe, and sign your organ donor cards.

When I originally saw this thread, I thought it was going to be this British anti-texting while driving commercial. This is the kind of stuff kids should be shown in school/driving class, along with the other shock videos.

    Warning: Horrific (staged) car crash

They sure work good when you hit the catch net at 180+mph.
They leave nice bruises on your chest.

And if you have a car with air bags you better remember cause the bag might kill you if you ain't buckled up.

I saw a pretty good commercial that relates to that a few years ago in Ireland. It starts off with a guy and a girl going out, followed by the text "tonight, he'll hit her so hard she'll never walk again" (or somesuch) and at first you think it's a dating violence ad, but they're in the car with 2 other people, though he's the only one without a seat belt. They get into a wreck and (how they filmed this I have no idea!) he starts flying around the inside of the car smashing into people and stuff. So, in the same way you could drive drink and never hurt another soul, not doing that / using your seat belt is not at all an unreasonable precaution to take.

It's not just a TV possibility either; ex-wife had been hurt in a wreck when her unbelted passenger came flying into her, too.

I was expecting something stupid and funny but that was actually pretty good.
