I've got some friends in Georgia who keep telling me I need to move down there.

Been to GA many times. You have to be very careful about the area/county you pick to live in. It's not just politics but corruption that can include LE. I'm sure your friends can set you straight on it all.

I'd have to think carefully about GA. But FL, SC, and even NC all look good to me.

I wonder if there are folk in other select states that bitch about all the Coloradans moving in, blowing up housing costs & crowding their counties & roads.

Probably not. We're still a pretty small state population-wise. Folks also seem to be going all over the place, not just a single state.

I have a friend in a rural community in FL who is part of the welcoming committee. They make sure all new land owners/residents understand the "rules." The transplants who are "live and let live" types fit in well. They will chase the hand-wringing statists out. They had a developer trying to buy up land to sub-divide and they locked him out too (I can't remember how they did it but I think he got tired and moved on).

Other populated areas that don't get personal are different. When I lived in N.FL they hated "Yankees" and didn't seem to care enough to find out what the word "Yankee" meant. Colorado <> New England/NY/NJ, but it was all the same to them.

But they are swimming in "Yankees" and can't do a thing about. Some of these states have income based on migration (FL has no income tax, but a special investment tax to catch the retirees, and limited homestead exemptions on property).

Have a friend that moved to Montana and some of the neighbors won't talk to them because they're from Colorado.

When I used to work auto claims sometimes I'd hear people living in Wyoming complaining about Colorado drivers.

    Consider Huntsville, AL, then.

Good cost of living but pay is same as here in COS.

Tons of clearance related positions there on Redstone and in town.

Yep. I frequently have to assure people here I'm not one of "those" type of Coloradans. To many people in this part of Idaho, if you weren't born here you're an outsider. Pretty much everyone keeps to themselves and family. Families are huge here, too. Many people my age were born here and have rarely, if ever, traveled more than 100 miles or so from home. It's pretty odd, really.
