Hoser, does your AF Match Garand have the little metal block installed in the chamber to prevent attempts to chamber .30/06 or did they install a barrel specifically made for the .308. Finally, is your’s chambered for .308 or 7.62X51? Thanks.

The magwell is blocked to prevent 30-06 rounds from fitting.

    308.

    308.
Does it handle 7.62x51 NATO as well? Seems like it would.

    I don't reload, so all my M1A (.308) has seen is 7.62x51.

Just picked up one to fill my Korean War era M1 Garand. Springfield action that dates to Apr 1943 with the date stamp of 2-52 behind the receiver, which was when Springfield ramped up for the Korean War. No idea if it ever made it over to the peninsula but good representative.

Just curious if the date STAMP is actually BEHIND the receiver? If so, where exactly?

Thanks for that picture. I have been messing around with M1 Garands for many years and have never seen such a stamp on that portion of the receiver. Thanks again.
