They have 10 day waits for handguns and semi-auto rifles (which also require proof of safety training). Background checks go through local law enforcement, which also slows things down.

I think their legislature also just created a requirement for 10 day waits for serialized receivers/frames (such as AR lowers) for people that build their own.

I think they have a plan to have their own state background checks like we have with CBI, but it probably won't be an option for several years.

Still no mag limits, though their big city libs keep trying.

Our garage sale had 2 tables of guns to sell. A lot of bolt action and handguns, some semi rifles

    An Interesting observation.

LOTS of women were not only familiar with the selection, but handled them very proficiently. A few asked if there was any ammo with them. 1 woman was interested in the Krag since it has lots of brass, she felt comfortable loading on her 550. . Not the husband, boyfriend etc, but her 550. Even better, their average age was definitely over 65-70

A friend of mine is looking to purchase a pistol soon and he said a small local store told him they can get the background check done faster than a bog box store. I thought they all just got in the same queue no matter who the seller is.

It is my guess, but They probably meant they can submit it to queue faster than box stores. Box stores probably reads 4473 about 4 times before submitting it due to their silly policies.
