Flammable much?

Oh man, it feels like a never-ending commercial break on a sitcom cliff hanger!!!

Powder always stays in the flammable cabinet but I had pulled out the 8 lb jug to use or sell the next day don’t remember. Piece of hot slag fell and rolled perfectly next to the jug. melted the plastic then lit off the powder. Jug exploded and spread powder Across the shop which burned old western style when they light off kegs of powder with a line trickled a long ways away.

Shop filled with smoke used a full extinguisher to get the bulk of the fire out then got the garage door open and got out couldn’t see inside the garage at all from the driveway.

Then the gf got home 2 minutes later with massive amounts of smoke rolling out. Luckily I got the fire out only loosing one jug of powder and a pair of underpants

That beats the 1 lb tin of modern black powder (pyrodex ?) I witnessed being accidentally being lit off in an open tin.

you got me at the underpants. That is nuts! I could have never imagined a whole jug going off. We used to mess around with small amounts of pulldown when I was much younger, which was always impressive. Apples and oranges, of course.

I am curious if anyone has ever accidentally lit off smokeless in quantity. It seems like there would be less initial shit in your pants, but the deflagration could make for an uninsured remains of a structure. We used to put around 200 grains of pulldown in popcans and they would act like miniature afterburners. I can't imagine what 56,000 grains would do (8 lbs)

I've caused more damage with a can of varnish and some rags than I have with vacuuming gun powder. Not that it's a good idea, just saying.

Oh wow, even more curious now. Was there any structure damage- besides smoke? I know it spread some powder out - did the plastic "pop" and spray powder everywhere or did the majority deflagrate in a fast fire which was spreading some? I really have no idea how that would...and did go down.

90% of them could be summed up as 'It seemed like a good idea at the time.'

One of my favorites involves me and several other folks here lying in a ditch trying to cover our heads with steel plates trying to avoid the cross fire.
