I run Blizzaks on my 2WD truck, after years of experience getting into places I couldn't get out of, the foibles of which I have documented here a few times over the years. After all, who needs 4WD when a 6 pack of Coors hung out the window will attract five guys in F350s with Miller Electric rigs on the back, fighting to pull you out? But since getting the Blizzaks and a limited slip differential, the snow has not proved much of an obstacle to me any more. I was zipping around today without any problems.

If your gonna go dedicated snow tires blizzaks are king. Costco usually will will have the best price especially when they do the buy 3 get one free.

I don't remember when, but there was that monster snow storm with killer winds....it seemed like the town was closed up tight; no driving allowed and there was a call out for folks who owned real Hummers to drive doctors to the hospital. Depending on location and size of the drifts; some folks at work were snowed in for a good week or two. Those folks were living out in the 'sticks' and had a drive way that ran more than a few acres before hitting a dirt road.

I think I was snowed in Fri night and it was late Tue before I could get out.

This storm for me was a slush storm; nasty but short lived.

Mar 2019 there was a nasty one east. Elbert county was begging for snowmobilers to help rescue people. Some idjit trying to get back to KS got stranded east of Elbert with his kids. I think they actually ran out of gas.

2003 was the "big one."

I seem to recall a few other windblown blizzards between 2003 and 2019 where friends in Elizabeth got socked in for days, much worse than we did.

Tires are key.

My wife's Ford Explorer was plowing 6" of snow in my street with the front bumper but still didn't have any trouble cause of the Blizzak tires. They're worth it. The all seasons never could cut it in the snow.

My Ram SUCKS in the snow with standard OEM "All-terrains". But put some Hankook snows on it and it's so much easier in the snow.

My RAM 3500 came with Firestone transforce tires, just about the most useless tire you could imagine. I replaced them at about 500 miles.

The Falken A/T3W I put on did very well today. Much better than the junk BFG's I used to run.

My Michelin Defenders on my truck's donk wheels (22") are total shit in 6" of snow. They are, however, rated for 130mph.

So the usual fukking morons had Karma catch up to them this morning on I76. We all get to sit on hwy while they scrape up the morons. Those Blizzaks don't help much when the folks riding on them get stupid.

Saw a single car rollover on the WB 6th Ave bridge over I-25 this morning. Whoopsie.

I-76 is always a shit show when there?s weather. One of my favorite activities is to count the accidents between Brighton and Fort Morgan.

The new cable things between the east and west sides have been really entertaining. Always fun to see cars plowed into them.
