"Another issue came with the plastic impeller water pumps. They were prone to failure on higher mileage engines and sometimes caused overheating while cruising. Despite this, most of the water pumps still lasted between 150,000 and 200,000 miles."

The major problem will be transmission overheating especially when hauling heavy loads in extreme conditions. I have a 2007 Silverado 2500 gasser with LY6. Transmission fluid was getting extremely hot, I added a 40K BTU cooler from TruCool. I also added a cast aluminum transmission pan that increased capacity by 3 quarts.

Cooler is about 8 times the size of factory. I still change the fluid after 30-40 thousand miles. Way cheaper than a new transmission.

I bet you have to be strategic as hell when you're hunting a parking spot with that school bus... haha
Did you get forscan and the key thing figured out for the trade off?
Big long trucks are nice for towing trailers, if set up right. Don't forget that rubber tends to decompose. I changed out my cooling hoses and belt after 10 years. I change the coolant about every 4 years. Nice looking truck you have there!

Got the emissions done today, passed with flying colors.
Can’t believe I will have to get it done every year though.
