My buddy got a 4/44 production Springfield that gauged well enough. It had the older locking rear sight on it which we thought was cool. He was excited to get an honest WWII gun. I would have been too. Congratulations on getting an honest WWII Rifle!

    did you get original wood?

Naw, this one is a Special Rack so its a new barrel, and new wood. Really fun rifle, I had never shot one till last weekend in the desert! I did a couple coats of linseed oil on the stock right when I got it and had broken it down to grease/oil everything.

    edit:Lets see those pics!

The Field Grade M1 Garands are available for order again. I spent a fair amount of time perusing pictures after reading the description. I'm going to pass based on expected condition, but if you want one now's the time.

    FYI:
Cabelas (Southside I25: What is it Parker?) has 6-7 M1's.
High priced 12-2200 or there abouts.
Just looked at them thru the glass.
Several were some sort of match conditioned................

When the order onslaught hit them they should have suspended the 8 rifles per year thing. It’s a bummer knowing that guys out there were maxing out their 8 a year plus 8 for their wife and 8 for each of their kids and who knows some of those guys probably had their parents and siblings signed up as well. It’s hard to believe they already tore through the Phillipine shipment.

There's an awful lot of CMP M1 Garands on Gunbroker.
I was just buying them for my personal collection and enjoyment, had I realized they were worth a quick $400 upcharge each just for ordering and reselling...

Yeah it's pretty lame they let people order so many. For a company who's supposed goal is to spread the love of rifle shooting, letting a bunch of retirees with too much money hoard them all is dumb. But it does pay the bills. Glad I got mine atleast.
