I went to the Jeffco Militaria show a couple of years ago, held at the fairgrounds near 6th and Indiana. That's probably the same show you went to. Historically I thought it was interesting see the men dressed in various period repro battle gear. I noted that swastikas were not in evidence. I thought is was kind of weird myself, really not my bag and I've never gone back. Mind you I collect militaria, including nazi stuff such as weapons, flags, medals, etc- but I would never wear the stuff nor do I display it openly.

I'm not jewish but my family came from the area in Russia that the Germans invaded. My grandad had contact with them before WW2 but the disappeared between that time. There are lots of people affected by the Germans. I honestly prefer that people who support the ideas that the Nazis had dress like Nazis so that you can identify your enemy. And living in USA gives them the right to dress how they want. Just as it gives you and me the right to marginalize, ridicule, and avoid them. I've never felt threatened by the type that seem to want to glamorize the Nazis. They are sad people.

I understand the history statement but that stuff belongs in the museums and reenactment battle fields. You don't see very many people running around in KKK hood and gowns for history's sake.

Agreed. There's nothing like a swastika to practice sight picture.

Umm...no, it's not in all cases. By that reasoning you disapprove of films, theater, kids dressing up for Halloween, etc...

I understand what you're saying, but don't carry the hatred too far or take it too personally.

Many people simply like the historical aspect of certain groups/cultures/periods of time. I have a lot of WWII guns, memorabilia and collectibles with Nazi markings on them. Doesn't mean I approve of what they did.

I'm fairly disappointed the Confederacy didn't win the civil war...but I married a damn Yankee anyway.

    .
no i do not disapprove of film theater ect , although it would be really hard to contain myself if i saw a child dressed in a Hitler youth uniform .
I just think it should be historic and left in a museum or in the theater .
Its not like i spend my time hating these people , its just the instant reaction i have toward Nazi's , KKK , skin heads , black panthers ect . Maybe its the hate and intolerance they represent that strikes instant anger. Yes i am intelligent enough to realize thats why they do it but I guess im not smart enough to not let it bother me when I see it .

What can I say...I was a sucker for a good-looking, intelligent, brunette. Still am after 21+ years.

I hear what you're saying. Then again, it does tend to keep alive the memories of what awful things the Nazis did. Like others have said, some people forget over time. Personally, I think it's important we don't, however unpleasant that may be.

The folks who are serious about white supremacy make me wonder.
I think the problems (financial crisis, offshoring jobs etc) we face are big and complicated.
Trying to come up with a simplistic solution (it's the mud races fault) is really missing major parts of the big picture.

Not to mention building your life/relationships around hating a group. What an emotional drag that has got to be.

I say make friends, deal fairly, keep your word (trust but verify) yadda yadda. Society is built on figuring out how to exchange what I make for what you make and we all profit.
