    So why are you against a flat tax on fuel? Sorry, but to exclude trucks because they deliver stuff to me is not a good enough reason. What you are doing is shifting the tax burden on the middle class and allowing big business to shirk its obligations. Sorry, I don't want to pay more taxes so that wallstreet gets more profit. If anything we should charge trucks and let cars off for free. After all, don't consumers always pay for taxes on business in the end. At least that is what the conservatives try to tell me.

    I think you personally are just trying to get out of paying taxes so you can pad your pocket. While in the same breath arguing for a flat tax rate. Kinda hypocritical if you ask me.

    let cars off for free...

    Shift it to the middle class? Right, cause most truckers are just rolling in $100 bills

    As for wanting to get out of paying taxes myself... did you not see the part where I could have gotten on welfare, food stamps (still could actually) and haven't? Yes, I do believe that I along with the rest of the military should also be exempt from taxes while we serve, but only while serving... not before or after. And yes, I would believe this even if it didn't apply to me. I'm not and have never been a truck driver (I've driven semis, but not for delivering goods for public use), but I can appreciate the importance of them and how much they contribute to you and I.

    As Blackford said... try to think of 5 things that you use daily that aren't provided to you by guys driving across states to bring them to you.

    Well, maybe because everything gets moved by trucks, if they get a tax cut, then prices will be lower for delivering them, then prices on everything would be less. Have you priced a truck? Lots of tax dollars raised to register it and maintain it.

    I did not derail it. I just responded. As to naming things that trucks don't transport. I am under no illusion as to the impact trucks have on my daily life. I fear what the world will look like if there is an oil crisis. Things are far worse today than in 1970's. I have no issue with truckers either. Its not an easy job. But that does not mean that I think they should not have to pay fuel taxes like everyone else. If anything it proves that bikers pay fuel taxes through the higher prices on all items they use because of truckers passing on costs.

    Now there's an excellent point.
    How much of a products price is marked up to pay for transportation? Betchya prices of lots of things would go down if the cost of getting them to ya went down.

    I bet ya not much. We were told the same thing with NAFTA. What happened.... wallstreet pocketed it.

    Sorry there is no free lunch. Roads cost money. The gov fairy can't pay for roads with libertarian magic dust.

    last OT post going to bed...

    Flawed logic/analogy. I am not in the state of mind (13 hr shift working on trucks) to formulate an intelligent response that will not be torn to pieces. Some one back me up.
