The M&P is a nice gun with updated options (tac-rail & adjustable backstrap). Most cops don't have the money to go drop on an Hkor FNH so they buy the affordable nice pistol.

Ya know what the kicker is, I was going to buy one of these when they first came out. They where offering a great rebate (or something like that) at the time. The guy at the store I was at said they are junk, don't buy it.
I've been considering an M&P 357c for a new CCW, get a .40S&W barrel, and get 2 calibers... there are also 9mm conversion barrels if you're so inclined.
need to go try one out, they seem to be just what I'm looking for... will have to see who has them locally.

I love my M&P40c also. It is my carry gun and it is easily the best handgun I’ve ever owned. I sold my 4”XD to buy the M&P and I am glad I did. As a bigger than average dude the adjustable back strap is nice and the pinkie extender on my mags are great. And they were free from S&W when I called them. I also like the fact that I can run full size magazines with a little spacer like the XD compact. I am saving up to buy another and maybe a .357 drop in barrel for my 40c.

I had an M&P 9mm and a Gen 4 Glock 17 and was undecided on which to keep. After installing an Apex Tactical DCAEK trigger and RAM, it was an easy choice. I traded the Glock in towards an AR-15. I shot several hundred rounds through both pistols together outdoors in one long session and consistently shot the M&P more accurately and faster than the Glock. I think the M&P quality is as good as the Glock and they are typically cheaper as well.

Based on the latest catalog, it appears they have dropped .357sig from the M&P lineup...
it's a shame, because there's not much difference between a .40S&W and a .357sig? It's a different barrel, and maybe a recoil spring (I don't belive there's a different on the M&P platform on the recoil spring), and the marking on the slide- they use the same mags, even.
so sales were so low that they couldn't continue to bother with making another barrel?
so now if I want to continue down this road, I'll either have t hunt for a M&P357c, or get a M&P40c and a Lone Wolf or KKM barrel to shoot .357sig
or just give up and get a Sig...(but I like Ambi controls)

With the .45 compact how does it compare to a glock 30 as far as weight and width of the slide?
