Back in the late 80s,( long before cell phones and concealed carry permits ) I had a similar incident like the original post that involved 5 rednecks in a pickup. I had taken a right instead of a left after pulling off the highway and fueling up in Albuquerque.
If I hadn't pulled my Rem. Rand ( cocked and locked and thumb on the safety ) I believe that my first wife and I would not be here today to tell you about it.
Sometimes pulling out a firearm will keep you from having to shoot someone.

still say the guy that was out of his car was the not the victim regardless of what the other guy defended himself with. had the guy not stopped his aggression i say the guy with the gun is in his rights to defend himself and whoever is with him.
Self control: The minds ability to override the body's urge to beat the living sh.. out of some ass.... who desperately deserves it.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

It's all about how you articulate the situation and would a reasonable person believe you had a legitimate fear of death or serious bodily injury if you hadn't. Maybe the "suspect" in this had the same thing but we'll never know because the SO only go the "victim's" side of the story. I think it's stupid that the guy even reported it.

I agree it would be a very very bad idea to come up to my car with my wife and kids with me, in a threatening manner with me not having a way out, over road rage. The guy that got out is definitely not the victim.

I can tell. The Subaru has the "coexist" sticker on back, right?

I no more got around him than someone rear ended him. I was MAYBE 2 car lengths in front of him.

So I pulled off, dialed 911. I waited for the Cops, told the CSP what I Saw. asked about the passing on the right, etc... Made sure to point out that I too had difficulty with him in the left lane and swerving...

The Officer then told me, due to multiple reports in person as well as to *CSP that it in fact a rare case of the guy in front's fault.

    Comsic Karma?

    I like to think so.

    (no TmLeader03, that wasn't a pit maneuver. )
CSP was wrong. Doesn't matter how many people reported it. In fact, the more people reported it, the LESS it was the driver in front's fault.

actually impeding the flow of traffic in violation of Colorado Statute 42-4-1013 is a crime.
and as he was going slow in the passing lane with evidence of reckless or careless driving which resulted in an accident makes him even more wrong.
last I saw of him he was lying on a stretcher blowing for the CSP.

So if it took you 6 hours to get from the Longmont exit to 120th ave... remember its OK to drive 60 in a 75 in the left lane...

    Irving said so
