Well, it's never to late to go out racing. We have a local race club here (Motorcycle Racing Association)... and they even have a race event for guys with regular street bike called "Superstreet"... so you don't need a fully prepped race bike to go racing, but you would need a full race suit with gloves, boots, and back protector. Guys in the club would even try to get you some gear they can loan you just so you can go out and race.

Thats awesome, I will look into it. I have some gear and just need to buy a bike again, prob late winter is when I will buy ( I know shitty time due to spring around the corner and price increase for bike saeson) and I know my wife and kids would enjoy going and watching me "race"

My Brother in Law just got vested with the Ruff Ryders(sp?) and he has tons of gear he would let me use or sell to me. He is considering selling me his 2008 or 2009 R1 also.

By chance your not on the CSC forum are you?
Same here.... I'll probably ride again too, but its hard.. I love bikes. They have been my passion for about ten years.. But I can honestly say it's not worth loosing a leg...which I came very close to doing last year. Long term, who knows. Maybe you and I should get together and talk eachother into it hehe...

I on that forum btw. You ever ride with those guys? If so, w have probably met, or at least know a bunch of the same people

It's all in the spirit of enjoying yourself and having fun... if your gonna do some serious track time.. try to get yourself a used but fully prepped track bike. Unless your an EXPERT rider and think you'll cash in $8000 a weekend winning every race in your class then by God do it! DON'T try to start from scratch you'll spend to much money on something your gonna trash! On the MRA forums you'll be able to find a good track bike for $3000 or less (Strictly track not street legal). Choices between CC's: 600cc's tires last longer 1000cc's you'll be getting new tires almost every event Try not to skimp out on the riding gear (leathers, boots, gloves, helmet, etc...), cause it will save your ass!
If you got any questions on any of this stuff don't hesitate to ask me or any other racers on that forum. We actually promote and help guys get faster than us... it makes it so much fun

I wouldn't skimp on the gear. The best that money can buy so to speak. I would get what fits best and is most protective for me since I have 6 mouths to feed and they depend on me to provide. It would mainly be for fun and nothing to serious.

Very cool... With the gear. Run to your nearest motorcycle shop and try on their leather suits, gloves, helmets, back protectors... and take note of the sizes! On the MRA forums you can get the stuff practically half priced most times for top name brands!
All of my race equipment along with the generator is all USED yup.. even the helmet

What do you mean generator? Is it something I have never heard of as far as gear or just a generator to run stuff off of when at the track?
