If we don't have a new AWB and/or mag ban passed the house and senate by the end of next month they'll likely never get it through (and I'd say the chances of passing anything are almost nil).
Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure if they could pass things that quickly or if it took a certain number of meetings. I won't deny that I am not too familiar with how congress works (or even how often they meet, what a "session" is, etc). Looks like its time for some research on the subject.

Worst case scenario, I need to know when I can expect to no longer be carrying my Glock 23 as my CCW, or have 30rd mags. Then again, if a 10rd capacity WAS enacted, does that mean no one can possess them, you can possess them but can't use them, or you can use them and no new ones will be produced?

Does anyone else see how the CDC is remotely even related to gun violence?

Lets sign this as an EO just so we're committed to doing something.

Again, lets sign an EO to talk about something.
They will have the CDC classify gun ownership as a mental CDiseaseC and then they'll have at it??

Makes all the sense in the world. Time to go start installing tinfoil in my attic, because no matter how big of a hat I make, it won't be enough.

Obama has already said that he does not understand the American need to cling to God and Guns. Say a prayer for all of the industry at SHOT show...they need it today.

Great responses there OneGuy- and I agree 100%. This however, is the only thing I'd approve congress to do... #2 is a big hell no! The others are no, but I see them being somewhat likely.

The doctor issue and CDC research could be the start of adding mentally unstable people to the prohibited list in the background check. I wouldn't be surprised if just getting a psychiatric med for anxiety or depression will soon lead to being prohibited. Good luck getting off that list. It'll probably be as hard to get off as the Don't fly list.

That will depend on what bills get drafted in the house and what that bill looks like after going through committee (where changes can be made) then to the floor where its voted up or down, then on the other side in the senate where yet another bill is drafted then in committee there (where changes can be made) then to the floor of the senate where it's voted up or down and then to the Conference Committee where the bill that passed the house and the bill that passed the senate are debated (where changes can be made) and then back to the floors of the house and senate where it's voted on again and THEN to the president.

A lot can happen between now and then. There would have to be a huge, strong consensus now in order for that to go fast. And we've got a seriously divided government right now (partisan gridlock is actually a good thing).

This whole talk of the CDC... they had a guy on FNC this morning talking about the CDC doing studies in the late 2000's early 2010's about the effects of violence with an AWB in effect, and post-AWB expiration and found nothing to report... so more dog-chasing-it's-tail goings on here?
