21 hrs from time sent in to approval.
The last form 20 I filed was bounced (like a month later) because the caliber didn't match. I then had to send them the permanent change of configuration paperwork [changing the caliber] that had been approved about a year before.

Whats a form 20?
Whats a form 20?
5320.20
Permission/notification slip to transport a NFA item across state lines.
What Hoser said. I incorrectly went off into the weeds with my reply because my eyes must have stuttered on the 5320.4 and I read it as 5320.20.
...but my comment still stands, I did a modification and got a confirmation but the ATF never updated their database. So my form 20 failed a year later because the caliber I submitted didn't match the outdated information they had on file.

My trust e-filed a Form 4 on 05/09/25 13:25. Approval received on 05/21/25 10:15.
Question: if I have a sbr on a form 1 through a llc I created and I want to transfer it to my trust, I would submit a form 4 and my trust would be the buyer and the llc the seller correct?
Yeah yeah a trust would have been better from the stsrt but this was a loooooong time ago and it was easier at the time. Now the extra tax stamp cost is worth it to secure the item for family.

Yes. What I can't answer is if the transfer has to go through a dealer or not and/or what kind of background checks might have to happen to fulfill Colorado law.

O2No one can answer these types of questions with 100% certainty, and that's the way the law was purposely written. Hope and a prayer is your best bet. Good luck [emoji456]

I dont think it needs to because it was a pre-made sbr that was directly transferred to my llc via atf form so I don't think the stste even really knows about it per se. That could be a different scenario if I was transferring it to myself vs my trust though perhaps. I could be wrong though.
IANAL, but here's the [awful] process I think you need to go through to now do a transfer from yourself, or an LLC to a trust. This is based upon my reading the CRS, section 18-12-112. What you do personally is up to you.
Doesn't matter if it's a pre-made SBR, it's a firearm transfer in the state's eyes. As a firearm, any transfer must go through a licensed dealer in order to get a background check done (correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe it "must be on their books" for them to do a BGC for a transfer - you might have some wiggle room in the phrase "as if" that I highlighted in red, below). Also, a BGC must be performed for EVERYONE named in the trust (see the section in blue - "Not a natural person" is an LLC or a trust.
Because it must be transferred to the dealer, that's your first $200. Then they do a BGC on everyone in the trust, and then it gets transferred to you. That's another $200. At least each transfer doesn't take 18 months like in the old days, but that's a small victory after spending $400 to transfer something to yourself.
My biggest worry is if you do the transfer only via the ATF, you have provided in exquisite detail all the documentation needed for the state to prosecute you for an illegal firearm transfer. Open and shut.
...since you're asking for information, there it is. Don't shoot the messenger.
Applicable text from 18-12-112:

Submitted a form 4 for a JK Armament CCX 9mm April 23rd. Done using the Silencer Shop Kiosk.
Received approval today.
Also submitted a Form 1 for an Uzi SBR June 1st. I will update when approved. I submitted on the SS website using the Form 1/4 service. Pretty easy actually. Worth the fee IMO.

First Form 1 hiccup.
Was advised that it was DISAPPROVED.
Reason was that I mistakenly put the maker of the receiver down as the manufacturer.
In contact with Silencer Shop to resolve this.
The notes stated to resubmit and a refund was in the process. I assume it’s the Tax Stamp. I don’t know how this works out.
I will resubmit once I get guidance from SS.

Still have to pay $200 until 01 January. At that time, expect for the system to crash often and wait times to surge.
If you want your cans and short barrel things before March to April of next year, do it now.

Does the 3 day bullshit apply to gun mufflers? And do you have to wait 3 days to assemble you'd shorty after stamp issuance?

Does the 3 day bullshit apply to gun mufflers? And do you have to wait 3 days to assemble you'd shorty after stamp issuance?
Depends
By the time you certify to approval is minimum 3-days. (Assuming for a trust)
When individual approvals were taking less than 24 hours, some shops still might say silencers are not firearm's.

Got my Certification email yesterday morning and went to Triple J to Certify in person. Tried about 10 times with the system saying some type of error every time.
Eventually they were able to get it through about 5:30 that evening. That’s about when I got the status change via SilencerShop email.
Now the wait.
I found my approved Form1 SBR January 8 on the ATF eform webb site. I E-filed it on December 17, 2025. It was approved December 18, 2025. I had received no notices that it had been approve. The notices thing never show any notice that it was done.
My dealer notified my SilencerShop silencer could be picked up January 7, 2026. He had poked around the ATF eform site and found the approved form. It was submitted December 12, 2025 and approved December 16, 2025. My dealer is Ark Tactical in Lakewood.
Log onto the ATF eform site. You'll be on the page with all the form icons across the top. Scroll down there is a search area. If you enter the eform ID number and search it will go to a page with your information in a row across the page. On the far right end there are 2 tiny icons, select the on the upper one that says "View Form". That takes you to another page where you can select "View PDF". That will bring up the latest version of your form. If it is approved it will have that completed at the bottom of Page 1.
I could only get this to work with the Eform ID Number. The only place I found that number was on the email receipt when I paid the tax.
Hope this helps someone.
I delayed writing this up. I had to Install my 10 1/2 inch barrel first.
