Funny, I watched Johnah Hex last night. Definite comic book styled. Made my 10yr old watch the first 10min. He stayed and probably watched his first cowboy flick.

Why did you hate Inception?
We watched season 1 of Afro Samurai. We liked it.
I've got to talk the lady into watching Sword of the Stranger and Ghost in the Shell though. Maybe if I'm lucky, she'll even watch Ninja Scroll. 8)

Its getting to be about that time to re-watch GITS, I think. Love that series.
Watched The Town again last night...good movie. Being originally from Boston, I didn't want to tear my ears off at the accents.
Nobody has seen Red yet? Funniest movie I've seen in a while.

Now, see? This is why folks (like me) say that you watch and enjo some seriously weird sh!t.
There is nothing weird about Afro Samurai. They made a video game out of it. It wasn't the best anime, but it was good enough.

Brings me back. Modern spoof on Blaxploitation. Watched it with my step son, feels good introduce a new generation to such greatness.
Saw the trailer during the super bowl; I'm goin.
Is it just me, or did they cast that female who was also in the military unit in Avatar. The one who had terrible lines and turned on her country at the end.
She is always cast for crappy roles like that. Trailer looks cool (they all do though), but just her being cast in the movie casts a doubt for me. Assuming I'm correct in thinking that was her.
who you talkin abt? 1:59?
That one female? Oh yes stu, like you weren't a die hard F&F vtac fanboi back in the day. lol

They have remade Authur (in post preduction)? Really?
Russell Brand plays Authur Bach and Luis Guzman a Puerto Rican plays Bitterman; originally a proper English Butler/Valet.
Come on. Why didn't they just make Arthur a woman.

No spoilers here . . . .
I went and saw I Am Number Four today. I didn't realize it was aimed at such a younger crowd. The love story and high school "drama" portions of it bored the socks off of me. The action parts were very cool I thought but there wasn't much of that until the end of the movie.
I'm not sad I went to see it. I just wish I had done my research and saw that it was so young and lovey feeling.

I know I'm late to the party but I just had to say I really liked the movie. I wouldn't compare it to the original, totally different movies. Just on it's own merit, it was funny. Just finished watching The Thing (1982) because of that list I posted. What a great movie. I bet that movie was AWESOME back in 1982.
The last few times I've camped up at Pawnee, it reminded me of The Thing, and I hadn't even seen it until tonight. I had the feeling about right. Cold, middle of nowhere, can't see what's outside your shack, no electricity. Yay.

"The Thing" was originally made in the late '50's (?) with James Arness in the title role. Good movie, but different slant in detail than the 1982 version. The latter is more true to the original science fiction novella, I think written by James Campbell way back in the '30's or '40's. Read it when I was a kid in the early '70's. Good read.
I read up on all that after I watched the '82 version, and was wondering if the book was any good.

Watched Skyline last night. There are some good stories in the naked city. This ain't one of them. I give it [Awesom].
Anyone ever seen Night of the Lepus (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069005/)? Giant mutant rabbits terrorize dessert ranchers. Pretty fun at Easter. As Joe Bob Briggs would say, "There was a lot of ketchup-fu in that movie.".

Watched The Fighter last night. That was the most excruciating 2hr 28min 25sec of my life. Bad doesn't even begin to describe this poop fest. I don't see what all the hype was about, other than all the actors can play really farking annoying characters. Even the the cute, barmaid love interest was like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard.

Despite my utter hate for any creature with those accents I actually thought it was a decent movie. The one thing that was a big let down was the total exclusion of his fights with Gatti. You're gonna make a movie about a guy who was involved in one of the best fight series in history but make no mention of it till the credits roll? Come on

My daughter and I go to see violent movies, late at night.
We'd been waiting for "Sucker Punch" for a couple of months now
Last night we wasted our money.
To summarize:
Tiny blonde chick's dad dies, butler type sets her up to make it appear like she went nuts and killed her younger sister. Has her immediately (like that night) committed to a nuthouse.
The nuthouse is some kind of brothel. But as it turns out, the whole brothel thing is in the blonde chick's mind - so it's NOT a brothel, but the attendants do "use" the girls that are there. but you never ever see any sex, it's not that kind of movie and it's perhaps it's only saving grace - that they didn't go down "titillation alley". Just a lot of inference's.
So, each girl has to have her own "dance" for when the customers come to choose them.
The tiny blonde chick's dance is SO mesmerizing, everybody watching it loses track of time and place - it's THAT good. You never get to see the dance (which is fine).
While she's "dancing" she's off in her own mind fighting all kinds of evil creatures out of WWII and comic books, this was the ONLY GOOD PART of the movie, you saw a LOT of mechanically correct WWII guns. She, of course, used a samurai sword and a 1911.
It was a waste simply because there was too much of the brothel thing going on, in her mind she was fighting her way to escaping the nuthouse along with a few of the other girls.
It failed utterly simply because it was so disappointing in the plot department, it didn't really have one.
A huge waste of production money, we should have gotten the hint when the movie had appeared only last week, and the theatre only had about 30 people in it on a Saturday night.
Don't waste you money, really - go read Oprah's biography, or anything else.
You should have put the summary in white so people could high light it. I stopped myself before I read it all. I heard it wasn't that good. I'll probably watch it when it comes out on netflix.
Oh yeah, see if you can get this moved to my "movies" thread.
I was excited because the ad at the theater looked awesome and they used a Lords of Acid song in one of the TV commercials.
So basically you're telling me advertisements can be misleading? HERESY I SAY![Twist]
We watched The Tourist last night. I thought it was only okay. I had the movie figured out in the first few minutes. However, since 99% of the time, when I think I have a movie figured out, I'm wrong, I didn't listen to myself; especially that early in the movie. So, the plot led me off track anyway, and I got to enjoy most of the movie thinking that I was wrong, only to find out that I was right at the end, and be kind of disappointed about being right. Does that even make sense?
I'll risk a bad movie to see jena malone.

so this weekend I finally watched 2012 all the way thru (had seen bits and pieces)

Oh man, I don't care what anyone says...but Jena Malone owns in SUcker Punch with the UMP. And Abie Cornish was awesome with that M4. Even the 1911/samurai sword thing was awesome. Really, Jena Malone and Abie Cornish had absolutely awesome gun handling in that. I know I'm sounding like some crazy art guy, but honestly folks: movies don't HAVE to be about plot. YOur dinner doesn't HAVE to be about calories. Sometimes it just tastes good. Not really trying to defend Sucker PUnch as a masterpiece....but my money well spent.

Reddawn alternative - down under style.
Its was a good movie. A little [AR15] and good acting.
Just watched Heartbreak Ridge last night. Was an okay movie, pretty predictable. Should been titled References to Heartbreak Ridge though.
Okay, so I ended up with free HBO for awhile. and 2012 was on. I figured what the heck and watched it.
Now I'm sure the producers intended it as a "dire warning" about global warming. My opinion, they severely missed the mark.
I have not laughed that hard at the first time I had seen a movie since Monty Python's "Life of Brian".
The movie was just so over the top, The only thing missing was the super nova of the sun.
The best character of the movie was Woody Harrelsons, Charlie Frost. A conspiracy theorist staked out at the Yellowstone caldera.
John Cusack did a good job of the underselling author of doomsday books. I have always like the way he brings a dry sense of humor to his characters.
Now, Danny Glover as the President, I'm sure his portrayal was meant to show how resolute and stalwart "our" then, newly elected CinC would be, if faced with adversity. He came off as a complete buffoon. Much like real life.
The CGI was well done
Objectively looking at it, I did notice that it was a well done piece of propaganda. Herr Goebbels would be proud.
Everything from, "Oh, it's our fault". To "Only the Chinese can save us." are just standard fare.
At the end our surviviors land at the Cape of Good Hope proclaiming it the new "Edan".
I would recomend it, other than the self important preaching, it was a fun movie to watch.
Now, If you haven't seen it and might want to, Stop reading now. If you have seen it, A few opinions.
At the very end, as the camera pulls away into space, did it give you the impression that the western hemisphere had imploded and was no longer there. It just didn't really have the outline of the dark part of the earth that I have seen in photos from the moon and such. Just another piece of propaganda I guess.
yah, 2012 was preachy and far fetched but not as bad as the day the earth stood still.

Saw Battle: Los Angeles this weekend ... was a better than average alien invasion movie/war movie/marine recruiting film and I liked it (FU Roger Ebert ... you're a hack).
You get to see Marines kick alien ass ... and you get to see Santa Monica torn to pieces. Thats a win-win.
I watched the original La Femme Nikita (1990, french) the other day. I thought it was a pretty cool movie, with a lot of potential. Of course I have to subtract points for it having the second worst sound track of any movie I've ever seen (Interview with a Vampire is #1), and the terrible gun play, and the anticlimactic climax. However, besides those few detractors, I thought it was great in concept and can see why it has been remade so many times.
Now I'm most of the way through A Scanner Darkly. I like the way it was filmed, it makes the pointless scenes easier to watch. I also like that I just finished the book and I know a little bit more about what is supposed to be going on.
Also recently watched Ip Man, about the legendary Ip Man. I guess he was a Wing Chun master during WWII. Pretty great movie I thought; and apparently based on true events.
I hear that Red Cliff is a good Chinese movie as well, so that is next up. One thing China seems to be able to do right, is martial arts movies.

Red Cliff (and The Warlords) was more of an epic Asian battle movie.
The Vanquisher is supposed to be a good Thai sword fighting movie.

Been thinking about Ip Man lately. Putting it in the queue. Red Cliff is pretty good, worth watching, a bit fanciful.
We watched Black Swan tonight. It was very well done. I hated most of the movie and most of the characters. That lets me know that every was cast perfectly and their acting was superb.

I thought Rock Star was alright too, but yeah the soundtrack is not bad. If you like movies that cover the good years of music "Almost Famous" is a good one... especially the sing-a-long part when they play "Tiny Dancer," a buddy of mine was in San Francisco when the Foo Fighters played their cover and Dave Grohl said "aw hell, let's just skip to the chorus and everybody sing!"

I guess I'm just hard to please. [Roll1] Couldn't stand the Fighter. Couldn't even finish The Green Hornet. The King's Speech bored me to sleep. The Black Swan was ok but not my favorite Aronofsky movie. Jeff Bridges does a great Karl Childers in True Grit. I kept waiting for him to say "I reckon, mmm".

Hey all, I just watched "The Mechanic" with Jason Statham last night- terrific action flick with some really awesome action. Not the thinking man's movie, so don't go into thinking you'll be enlightened, just great action entertainment.
I suggest this to anyone!

I can second that, pretty good for some gunfights and explosions, if you liked the Transporter movies with him this will be right up your alley

HAHA, the whole movie I was like: "The Transporter now being paid to kill people! Sweet." But that old chevy just isn't as cool as the BMW from the first Transporter.
just watched Surrogates on netflix.
it got bad reviews but I really liked it, one of the better SF movies of the last few years.
I just watched True Grit. Over all I liked the movie. I liked the way the characters spoke, but towards the end of the movie, it became kind of unbelievable. I want a bear skin coat now though.
News Flash: Go see Super 8! Just saw it last night and it really is a well made film. It's not what you think and there are some really intense moments of excitement and anticipation. J.J. Abrams (of Lost, Cloverfield and the new Star Trek fame) did a superb job, and had some help by Speilberg himself!
I didn't really want to see Super 8, but since it got a recommendation here, I think I'll check it out.
so because I watched surrogates I decided to check out gamer again.
surrogates is better.
Watched Braveheart for the first time tonight. It was only okay.
Okay at best. [Roll1]

braveheart is an entertaining film but pure hollywood.
they're not as common now but a few years ago there were lots of pasty skinned kids with celtic knot tattoos that thought it was a historical docudrama. those folks are hilarious.
I didn't have an issue with whether it was true or not actually, because I don't know anything about it. It just could have been better. I found it extremely predictable.
On another note. Tim Curry as the Lord of Darkness in Legend was such an awesome costume.
His costume in The Rocky Horror Picture Show was also interesting. :D

watched a league of their own yesterday.
I like that film.
"it's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great"
"there's no crying in baseball"
So I just watched the Lincoln Lawyer last night starring Matthew McConeghy (sp?) and Ryan Phillippe, I recommend it! Really good and at times somewhat intense drama. Must see, just letting you guys know!
Just watched "The Exorcist" for the first time ever yesterday... I'm not impressed, it wasn't that scary... twisted, and a great movie, but not even close to being the scariest movie ever, I wouldn't even put it in my top 10 scariest list.

Can't really classify 10, but 5 I would label scary as f*** in no particular order would be:
The Thing
Poltergeist
Ringu (not the Ring, that was retarded, the original Japanese version)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original)
The Shining (first saw it very young)
Not the biggest scary movie fan- hardly watch the new ones because modern horror is lacking in originality and good writing/direction (case in point: the Saw series and all these remakes of Japanese psychological horror movies).
Another good one I thought that just sent shivers up my spine was Pandorum. It was fresh and original.

Well, other than you not liking the Exorcist, you're ok in my book [Coffee]
I found The Orphanage to be one of the best scary movies I've ever seen. I was a film with actual content, unlike the Saw series.
I watched The Exorcist, as a kid, in the movie theater. Yeah, it was the scariest thing I had ever seen. Spent most of the time under the seat during The Blob.
Top 10
Exorcist
The Birds
Jesus Camp
The Blob
Orphanage
Jaws
Evil Dead
Hanna Montana, The Movie
Arnold
Kids

agreed. the acting in that was some of the worst I've ever seen...
My top ten horror films may take me about a year to figure out, so I figure I'll start posting up my favourites.
This is, though, my number one...easy...
PpuNE1cX03c
I think my brain is wired wrong then... Exorcist, mainly just a screwed up movie. Jaws, not really all that scary to me. For some reason all these movies people claim are so scary just were entertaining to me- Psycho, somewhat; Any ...of the dead films, pure fun, no scare; Saw series (considering I stopped after 2) just plain terrible, not scary. I'm also not really frightened by the serial killer movies (Jason, Freddy, etc.) But what did scare me was the scene in Case 39 involving hornets and Bradley Cooper- I'm very allergic to stinging insects.
Ringu (not the Ring, that was retarded, the original Japanese version)
The remake of The Ring scared the hell out of me for a few days, mainly because the pale, dark haired lady in my avatar thought it would be hilarious every morning to brush her hair over her face and wake me up by hissing "seven days" in my ear :D
Man, I haven't been afraid of a scary movie since I was little... Back then it would have been the Exorcist, Poltergeist, Puppet Master, and Friday the 13th. Then I watched one of those "how their made" shows on movies and was never scared again... However I watch scary movies now just to see if any of them and their ideas are remotely scary. Speaking of which, anyone seen the Fourth Kind?
...Jaws, not really all that scary to me. For some reason all these movies people claim are so scary just were entertaining to me...
Jaws.... Ya, that scared me, but in a different way than the normal undead horror movies. Jaws plays on real life shit, ya, mostly fantasy on how a shark acts, but still.... The first time I watched Jaws was on a boat off the coast of Florida when I was a little kid, bad bad bad idea.

[ROFL1]No kidding, that'd be like watching Apollo 13 on a space flight! I just don't get scared by some of that stuff, I think I might have head issues or something. Honestly, the scariest movie I've seen in a while was Star Wars Episode 2- Hayden Christiansen's terrible acting is f***ing scary! George Lucas sure knows how to make 'em these days.

With the lights on during mid-day? A friend of mine said he nearly hit his head on the ceiling watching the first Paranormal Activity from jumping out of his seat so damn much. Still haven't seen either, but as far as fear factor I hear they're up there, I just don't want to risk getting freaked out by a plotless film.
I watched The Good Shepherd last night which I thought was fairly worthwhile. It was nice to see a movie in which the producers weren't scared of taking long enough to fully tell the story (the current limit of 75-90 minutes for a movie is essentially a TV show).
Paranormal Activity really freaked me out as well, but the entire experience was ruined by how incredibly stupid the movie was toward the end.
See, that sucks... Ghost or any kind of movie in that catagory just doesn't do anything for me. They are entertaining, but that is the extent of it.

The Veteran (2011), British movie "A soldier returning from the war in Afghanistan uncovers a conspiracy involving the intelligence services and a gang of drug dealers."
Was not the best action film I have seen though it was enjoyable. The final showdown at the end was very well done in my opinion. Just imagine a movie where people actually change mags when they should.

I just got done watching that too. Great movie with a screwed up ending. I agree the final action scene was well done. Looks like someone actually coached the guy on proper form for a lot of things. Including changing the mag halfway through when there was a lul in the fighting followed by stowing that half mag for later.

It's french (yeah yeah... I seriously didn't watch this movie for almost a year in my Netflix cue because of that very reason) but it's a pretty rad movie.
If you can ignore how silly it sounds when people speaking in french try to sound bad a**... you'll probably like it.

Love George A. Romero- aka the father of Zombie horror... I just watched a doc the other day on netflix called Zombiemania- they featured Mel Brooks' son Max, who wrote the zombie survival guide. If there is one thing in this world that's more fun than playing around with the idea of the Zombie apocalypse I'd sure like to hear it.

Its still in theaters. About a group of Mossad agents on a clandestine mission to capture a former Nazi, "Dieter Vogel" (based on Josef Mengele, the SS doctor that performed experiments on people at Auschwitz), who's living in Berlin working as a gynecologist. Lots of twists to it, one of those movies that doesn't start to really make sense till towards the end.

I went into it not knowing a single thing about it, just that everybody was saying it was really good so I figured why not. I actually really liked the storyline, which I won't go into detail about cause it'd spoil it, but I think they could have gone about telling it just a little bit better. Its worth seeing though.

So, Hobo with a Shotgun was the worst movie I've ever seen in my life.
My wife and I were pretty excited for this movie when we saw the previews, but 10 minutes in we literally couldn't keep watching it. It's just terrible.
Cloak and Dagger is on Netflix instant streaming right now. That movie is fantastically 80's.
Blitz with Jason Statham just came out last weekish on netflix and redbox. About a "bad boy" cop who goes on the hunt for a serial cop killer. Pretty decent.
Hobo with the shotgun is freaking sick movie, and fuckin THE WORST MOVIE I've ever seen.
Hobo with the shotgun is freaking sick movie, and fuckin THE WORST MOVIE I've ever seen.
I kinda liked it. Not much plot and a whole lot of gore. The people doing it definitely had their tongues in their cheeks.
Now the new X-men movie, that sucked big time. [Bang] Started out ok but tripped over it's own pecker about half way through. Lots of violence for a PG13 movie too.
I watched The Veteran last night because of this thread. Pretty good, thought they gave away the little twist a bit early but well done. Kind of reminded me of a movie I probably recommended somewhere in this thread Outlaw with Sean Bean. Similar, vet takes back the streets of London kind of deal.

Oh James Cameron, why can't you go back to the days of making awesome movies like T2? Titanic? Really? And then last night trolling around Yahoo Answers (looking to see what that one movie with that one guy was) someone actually asked if they ever made a 9/11 movie similar to Titanic- IE: With a fawking love story... Just saw Contagion, Drive and Shark Night at the drive in this past weekend.
Contagion was pretty good. Not quite what I expected, but well worth watching.
Drive sucked. I acutally cried in my wifes arms for five minutes mourning the 90 minutes of my life that flick stole from me. It looked like a 12 year old shot, directed and wrote the script.
Shark Night wasn't that great either. Not as good as Piranha. Might be worth a red box rental or throw it in your netflix que.
Dudes... just saw Hanna and Fast Five last night- here's the breakdown:
Hanna- 8/10, not what I was expecting but very good!
Fast Five- 7/10, exactly what I was expecting but still pretty decent with some hot chicks, fast cars and lots of action! Don't think, it's a fun film.
Interesting, Drive has gotten lots of praise. I'm not sure what to think of your review since you said "Not as good as Piranha." and the only Piranha movie I know was that terrible 3D one. Am I mistaken or do you have terrible taste in movies Veritas?
I'm watching The Man From Nowhere tonight. It is on Netflix instant. I think it's Korean. It is an awesome action film. It's like a Korean Guy Ritchie film.

Arena - Samuel Jackson Low budget, lots of blood and some female chests. Might be worth watching on HBO for Free
The Set Up - Movie was done okay, actors did their job, but plot was kinda blah. Another worth watching if its free.
The Guard - British movie about a rural cop dealing with drug dealers, I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Drive - Its an ART movie for sure, the 5 mins of action I did enjoy. But overall nothing overwhelming great about it
Zoo Keeper - Fairly funny and fun to watch with the wife.
Red Faction Origins - For what generally appears to be a Sci-Fi channel movie it was much better then I expected. If a fan of the game or sci-fi in general would be worth a $1 rental.
Red Riding hood - The blood and gore kept me interested, but in the end its not something I would ever watch again.

Another plug for local film makers, Cease Fire is almost ready to be released. The Tivoli is the only theater that might actually show it.
Just saw the following movies:
Your Highness - absolutely hilarness, but very crass. Don't watch this movie if your offended by violence, gore, nudity or copious and creative use of the "f" word.
Paul - Also a very funny movie, but the Christain bashing got old after a while. The alien was hilarious, just wish he would have kept his pants on more...
Sorry but Your Highness is the WORST movie I've seen in a long time. Not even a giggle. I think Tropic Thunder was the last worst movie. At least the kid getting thrown off the bridge got a laugh.
Paul was good, though. Watched it twice.

I haven't seen anything new lately, other than watching the Narnia films. The last time I watched the first one, I was a drinker still, so I didn't pay attention to it. Watched the first two, and have the third one on the way.
I am, however, excited for this Friday, as I'm going to see The Hills Have Eyes at the Denver Film Center, and Michael Berryman is going to be there!

dude, you gotta get a photo with him holding a COAR15 sticker!
Well when I said "not as good as Pihrana" I meant comparitively. I still hated Drive. I don't think artsy and action movies generally mix. Though my wife accusses me of bad taste in movies all the time...

Any of those still available?

Just saw this over the weekend
WjmhuYgZrow
Absolute must see (for fans of horror comedy, Alan Tudyk fans and folk that are sick and tired of the anti common folk bias in most movies these days).
Its not "officially" released on DVD/BluRay until November 29th (http://www.amazon.com/Tucker-Dale-Vs-Evil-Blu-ray/dp/B005HI4LLY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1318526105&sr=8-2) but if you know where to look you can find it "out there" ;)
Apparently its currently playing at the Denver FilmCenter on East Colfax (http://www.google.com/movies?hl=en&near=denver&sort=1&ei=7ByXTs3JFeeViQLZzPXfDQ&tid=7751352d19cb8ec2).
I suspect this WILL become a "cult classic".

Now that looks good!
Any sites to get a free movie or two on the net without getting a virus when doing it?
Just turned off the Green Lantern after less than 20 minutes.

Pook, I could have figured that just watching the previews.
One I recently saw, and strangely it's brought to us by Kevin Smith (the comedic genius behind Dogma and Chasing Amy) is Red State, starring John Goodman...

Hard to explain what it's all about- I guess crazy fanatic religious people face off against the ATF after 3 young boys are kidnapped by them... Crazy movie, but not all that bad- if you don't mind strange.
Ok, Wrecked was pretty good. Adrien Brody usually does good work.

Watching the Dirty Dozen for the 'leventysevenbillionth time. Classic.
Red State will be later this week.

The wife and I finally had a date night and saw Real Steel.
Genuinely a great movie, great action, hooks you and makes you emotionally attached, awesome evolving morals, and all around fun time. Would be great for whole family, as long as your kids can handle robots beating the crap out of each other and one seen where a lead character gets their butt kicked.
Its like Rocky but with someone who can act.

I thought Real Steal was the best movie my family has seen in quite a while. My wife and son's (8 & 12) really liked it as well.
Watching Beetlejuice. I always liked Geena Davis.[Sweat]:D

So I went with "Haywire". Meh, ok spy movie, but not great. It seemed to have an "Alias" theme (and I love Alias) with the cool super-spy music, but Gina Carano is no Jennifer Garner that's for sure. For some of the "stunts" that Gina HAD to do, I was like "Really?, I could jump that fence faster...LOL"
OK for 5 or 6 bucks if there's nothing better on IMO.

I agree. Haywire could have been a lot better. Not terrible, but don't go out of your way to see it.
saw avengers this weekend. very bad ass.
saw just go with it. it was surprisingly funny. i enjoyed it.
also saw repo men not too long ago and enjoyed the story and the ending. worth a rent
Watched Invisible Invaders and Bucket of Blood last night. Old 50s/early 60s films.
Both of them were so awful they were great.

its definitely a good idea to see thor before seeing avengers.
Just went with the mom yesterday to see Dark Shadows (she has a thing for Johnny Depp)- great movie! But I'm strange like that, I love Tim Burton.... I highly recommend it, and yes, it's worth not waiting and paying extra to catch it in the theater.
Saw "The Grey" last night... well I can't really say that I liked it. If any of you remember I write for Examiner as a film critic and I wrote a review today about it here. (http://www.examiner.com/review/the-grey-liam-impresses-but-that-s-really-about-it?cid=db_articles)
had the best movie night in forever the other night...
full metal jacket and red dawn.

i heard that movie was a gigantic turd. i remember seeing the preview and the first half of previews looked cool, then the second half looks horrible.
I really liked the crash scene of The Grey. The wolf scenes were disappointing because the wolves looked pretty fake.
I am curious about Battleship. I want to know how they turn an alien invasion movie into a movie about a ship, but not enough to see it. So if anyone actually sees Battleship, please PM me and tell me about it.

Me too. I think I might just be getting old. LOL
I have Machine Gun Preacher on my HDD... that I uh... purchased off iTunes, yeah that's how I got it! [LOL] Haven't watched it yet, but I heard mixed reviews, some say it was good, others say garbage, but I like to form my own opinion about things and not just take every person's word for it and maybe miss a great movie...
On that note, The Dictator is out today! I really want to go see this very soon... maybe even tonight!

Red Tails was good. Great flying battle CGI. Ranks up there with Flyboys and Memphis Belle.

I said this before the crash, if you think a two hour Rambo/KONY2012/700 Club mashup movie sounds like a good idea you'd probably love it, otherwise it is complete shit.

"Rampart" with Woody Harrelson.
It's not a shoot-em-up and car chase flick like I thought it would be.
The "4 Star" review was "A veteran cop blurs the line between right and wrong as he carries out his own brand of justice on the streets of Los Angeles".
Sounds like a Dirty Harry movie, right? No way.
More drama with a few funny lines from Woody. Not bad, but don't expect a lot of action because there isn't much.

WWII flick about the black airmen proving themselves.
I liked it, even though some of the maneuvers those old planes made would have really torn the wings off of them, but it's a movie so suspend some disbelief.

One For The Money - Kathryn heigl. Fairly boring. A couple decent scenes with a little gunplay and humor. A decent amount of Heigls skin is shown. Don't knock yourself out to see it.
Headhunters. This is a 2011 movie that is Swedish or Norweigen. About an art theif that steals from the wrong guy (Jamie Lanister). Pretty decent movie actually.
