Default My first (and only) visit to Jensen's

A day or two before Christmas I made my first trip to Jensen's. Believe me, I will never set foot in that store again!!! It was about 12:30 or 1:00 in the PM and the store was pretty crowded. The 1st thing I noticed was the expression on most of the customers faces. Stressed out. It took me about one minute to find out why. Not one sales person that I saw had anything like a pleasent attitude, or even a neutral attitude. And that woman at the main counter!!! There is no way she should be in a retail environment. I know they are super busy now with the current political situation but there is no excuse for treating people the way they do. When the new President gets around to restricting "black gun" sales this will be one of the first places to go and rightly so.

When the competition is minimal you can afford to have an attitude. Where else you you going to go where you can handle a wide variety of firearms?

The guys at Jensen's do have thier moments. I'm not sure anyone would do much better, these guys haven't had as much a lunch break over the past 2 months.

I've found them to be very helpful - go there in the morning during the week, any other time and it's too busy.

Stressed out because the guy in front of them might get what they want.

Try being on the other side of the counter... You would be amazed how many people want stuff now and get pissy with you if you dont have it. And when you say I dont know when it might come in if you try to order it, they get even more pissed.

Jensens is the best game in the area. Its been a crazy time in the firearms business since "that" day.

If you PLAN to stay in business you NEVER can afford to have an attitude. Customer service and a friendly attitude will get you far more business in the end.

yes it will. however as Hoser posted. try answering 36 peoples questions @ the same time.
had a guy a a tanner show 2-3 months back. he asked me what i though (key word thought= OPINION) about the POF piston uppers.
told him (my opinion) regarding piston uppers, some good, some untested. he tells me i'm an ass as POF is the only piston upper on the market??? then walks away
    hows that for client service.
at one time in the past I lent a hand @ jensens (part time) the majority of customers were great. it always took one who didn't understand why we wouldn't open the door for them @ 8am. Or not want to stay later for someone who would TRY and make it in around 9pm, depending on IF they could catch a ride.

then they get pissed at you because you will not accomodate their whims. hey open
Xam-Xpm means that. everyone has a family or friend to see after a long day at work.
get a life or shop elsewhere. OR do as others and visit during the week.
wed morn it was dead, today they're swamped.

Honestly, i'm all for customer service, but I do need to say that when you are the big dog in down, and everybody and their cousins want what you have, you just might get a little busy! And when you are busy, you may get a little impatient with a customer or 14 when everybody through the door wants to take up precious time try and be your buddy and talk guns... These things happen, we all have our bad days.

I have had decent experiences at Jensens, nothing steller, but I have usually been there and found what I was looking for in a timely fashion. The clerks working have not always been the most friendly, and some really dont have any clue about the products they are selling other than the price and that they go boom. But Im not going in there to make a new drinking buddy or anything, and ill do my own independant research on a weapon LONG before I ask the clerk every little detail, so why should I be bothered by what may come across to me as an a-hole clerk? If you dont like them because the guy at the counter didnt wanna here about your buddies AR or AK, go pay more for the same thing at Gander or Sportsmans...

I sympathize with everybody up there, that place is busy bell to bell and they do a great job of taking care of every customer in the door. They do get testy from time to time but they are human, I am up there ALOT and I have yet to see them be really rude to someone that didn't deserve it. In fact even the people that did deserve it got off pretty easy in my opinion. Just give them a break, dont expect them to talk your ear off and be your buddy for life and you will get a great gun at a great price.

    my two cents

Well, I guess you have to set your expectations. In the current environment I really don't care if they like me and vice versa. I didn't go in there to make a friend. I spoke with them on the phone to see if they had what I was looking for and knew from the tone exactly what I was going to experience. The market is apes*** right now.

The bottom line is they are the only tactical shop game in town, they had something I wanted and they aren't price gouging. I got decent customer service and will go back when I'm looking for an A3 carbine in the summer (if I still can!)

To put it in perspective, how many shops have you been in where they were not busy and they got pissy with you. That's the gun shop trade...and if this is your hobby you have to build a little tougher hide.
