There are many many many more ways to help our country and our service men/women than by signing-up. Not that its a bad option - but don't limit yourself to thinking you have to pull a trigger to make a difference. One great way you can help is to volunteer your time on base teaching classes or mentoring folks who want to learn what you have to say (you have a degree in computer security and that is a highly sought after skill right now). Help put on career events.. Get your employer involved with military hiring.. There are a thousand things you can do. All you really need to do is just ask.

That said - if you want to skew your career slightly you can always turn your talents to helping the DoD. Lots of contractors hiring, lots of work to be done. You would be surprised at the amount of good you can do without putting on a uniform.

Word. Lots of things you can do to serve your country or serve those who serve/served, which IMO is just as important.

When I got my HD Veteran plates I took out my 214 to show them and they said "Oh you don't need that " WTF !!!!

I had to show mine. Now the new car is getting the DS plates. I will take a copy but since they may have a copy on file we will see.

And I noticed the deal about no documentation for the Pioneer plates as well.

When I was working at XYZ company and wore their uniform on Friday, one girl asked me.
"Do you work at XYZ?"
Remember, this was when I was in early-mid 20s. The XYZ only let us wear that on Casual Friday. Suit and ties on Mon-Thurs.

BTW, I went out on a date few times with girl who use to work at Cisco System around 2001. She was an HR, but she got laid off year later. Good looking too. Too bad.

Hound - I think you may need to gear down buddy. You're talking shit about people who you have no idea what their background is. A few people who have disagreed with you in this thread are true vets and it's for that reason they feel no need to get in a dick measuring contest with you. I didn't serve but I'm willing to bet these same guys developed that high level of respect for others because of their service.

They can and will speak for themselves. Coming from somebody who never served, you only show ignorance of something you will never understand. I have had this exact conversation with many who have and are serving. They served in the Battle of the Bulge, Vietnam behind enemy lines, Iraq, etc. In all the years of hearing this topic come up, they have all been dismayed when civilians pose as those who served. It lessens us all who served and your arrogance to claim to speak for them is amazing. You should keep your mouth shut instead of claiming to speak for those who have earned the right. I don't disrespect them, nothing I have said was against a vet. I stand for them, and with them. A lot like the vet in that video.
