I voted for Kopp too, and was also disappointed to see the results. But now it shouldn't matter what your party affiliation is, Hick has done enough harm across all party lines to get many Independents thinking about voting for an alternative to that chuckle-head.

We need to get everyone to put down their beer, bong, or bike and vote for a change in leadership, or someone that will show some leadership. Beauprez is the only option at this point.

As long as we don't have a split party like the last time, we should give dickinpooper a good run. 276,642 voted in this primary. That is more votes than Maes received in the 2010 general election. Of course only registered republicans vote in primaries. I think this was a sign of a fired up core.

I also voted for Kopp but the thing is now we need to rally around Beauprez since he is our candidate. JMHO

I've never understood the idea there's some smoke-filled room somewhere with old, white guys picking the republican candidate. Especially in the primary. The primaries are truly a time when your vote really does count. Sure...someone on the republican state committee may have talked to Beauprez about running, but it was registered republican voters that put him, and not one of the other candidates, into the final race.

Sad, isn't it? I cannot say that I am surprised with the outcome of this primary, just disappointed with the results.

Beauprez got the higher end endorsements because he spent the money to buy television ads. The millionaire banker turned buffalo rancher loaned $500,000 to his own campaign. Advertising = votes.

The fact that the vote spread between the four GOP candidates was so close indicates that all were good candidates. We voted for Gessler, but will certainly support Beauprez against the chickenliar.

Campaign contributions, letters to the newspapers, bumper stickers, yard signs, and personal contacts is what it will take to win. There's going to be a shipload of outside (Bloomberg) money coming in to save Hick and Udall.

While I was pulling for Kopp, I'm not terribly surprised Beauprez won it... I mean, look at the majority of the GOP voting stock: they voted for Romney in the primary, they voted for Romney in the election (well, it was between him and Obama, so yeah), they vote for the "republican" to win elections, not the best candidate on the right side of the fence. For the most part, the largest numbers of registered republicans will vote for the most "party line" candidate. That's what got Romney in the running in '12, that's what got McCain in '08, that's what got Beauprez here. Sure, some areas the TP candidate will win, but all in all, it's be the most republican you can and you'll win. I don't anticipate a huge shake up of the party for some time. Not saying I like it, but that's just the way it is. A lot of mainline republicans think the tea party is nuts.

At least now I can dedicate full attention to one guy to beat Hick. And if anyone here thinks that less than 10% going to some 3rd party candidate for governor is the way to go, I have a nice beachfront property in AZ I'll sell dirt cheap, because you're an idiot.
