Folks... I am assuming that you guys can read, it is not apparent from many of the responses. Everybody has been going to a glass bottle and yet the (as has been pointed out by a mod) requests stated a plastic bottle. I never mentioned glass in any statement, did not think I needed to.

You're BS just gets better and better. The best way to make yourself look like a condescending ass, which you have a real talent for doing, is to attempt to correct someone with incorrect information.

In the first place, these were not "requests". On the document in the OP it clearly states they are "Proposed Rules of Engagement". And it doesn't state how the "peaceful protesters" are required to conduct themselves. The demands are strictly to be adhered to on the part of the police. Fuck that. Secondly, the proposed RoEs state, "water bottles". Not glass, not plastic. Water bottles. Could be made of anything. Could be empty or full. It doesn't specify. So before you accuse others of not being able to read you might wanna check your comprehension skills as well. Because from what I can tell they're sorely lacking.

It is apparent that this is a sounding room of Barney Fifes with a "Whaooo is me", 'they' are all bad people, "Ya gotta nip it in the bud"...Thin blue line of solidarity. Many of your statements on here show why people should be afraid of the cops instead supporting them. It makes it harder for the good cops out there that deserve the communities support.

Your constant references to fear seem to be projection more than anything else. First you call officers/former officers on the forum "Barney's" then you state there's some tremendous fear on the part of Joe Public towards police. Well that really doesn't make sense to me. Then again, most things you post here don't make sense. I haven't seen one LEO/former LEO here say the police should automatically respond with "shock and awe" or anything of the sort. Even I said they should ignore this list of demands and tell the community they have nothing to worry about if they want to peacefully demonstrate. Many people, including me, have said that the police response to law-breakers should be within the bounds of what the law allows. You're just making shit up now.

For the record... a glass bottle is not equivalent to a gun even if both can do harm.

Colorado statutes defining a deadly weapon are clear on this. You're wrong. As usual. Any item whether animate or inanimate, which is capable of inflicting death or SBI in the manner in which it's used can be a deadly weapon. Period.

By that reasoning ANYTHING in the hands of a non-cop gives a cop the right to beat up or even shoot somebody and that is not 'OK'.

The police are only obligated to act within the law. Period. They are not obligated to concede to these demands nor should they. Their response should be, as long as everyone behaves themselves and assembles peaceably, you won't have anything to worry about from the PD. Break the law and we'll do what it takes to arrest your dumbass.

Nowhere does it state in their request that they condone a 'riot' or 'looting'. It is a tense environment and they don't want a minor infraction to turn into the original police response.

A minor infraction like a robbery and subsequent assault on a police officer where the robbery suspect attempted to disarm the officer? That sort of minor infraction?

They arrested a woman for simply falling down for Christ's sake!!! Cops should be safe but instead of the Barney approach (that failed horribly the first time) this is trying to have the Andy Griffith approach of de-escalation. That is not a bad thing.

It's not a bad thing as long as these protesters remain peaceful and understand they don't get to dictate police response.
