Ok, I guess we are going to get technical. The first G21 serial numbers begin in 1990, and the first generation Glocks were built between 1982-1989.

    1982-1989 (First Generation)
. two pins (trigger pin, trigger mechanism housing pin)
    . smooth (pebble finish) frame

    1989-1997 (Second Generation)
. three pins (locking block pin, trigger pin, trigger mechanism housing pin)
. checkering on the front and back of the frame
    . side pebble finished panels

    1997- (Third Generation)
. three pins (locking block pin, trigger pin, trigger mechanism housing pin)
. finger grooves with checkering between finger grooves and back of the frame
    . thumb recess
    . forward equipment rail

So he doesn't even know what Glock 21 he had either.

As far as SA 1911s are concerned :

    Full size = "Government" 5" sized 1911
    Champion = "Commander" 4" sized 1911
Range Officer Compact = CCO sized 1911
    Ultra Compact = "Officer" 3.5 " size 1911
    Micro Compact = "Defender" 3" size 1911

This list does not cover some of the older discontinued and SA Custom shop one off models.

Due to trademark and copy right problems each manufacturer has to come up with their own names for said sizes of 1911s.

Oh and then add in the "Lightweight" terminology! It's getting so confusing...

This is why I left out the "Lightweight" and "Long Slide" terminology out.

If the OP would only post up the Model number off of the end of the case or a picture we all could quit being Internet experts.

As soon as he posts a picture what we supposed to do then? Maybe it will turn out to be a 9mm and we can start in on if it is a real 1911.

You may want to edit your post and put a smiley in there or a sarcasm disclaimer before someone gets their little feelers hurt........

My Sig Ultra 1911 has a 3.3 inch barrel which seems to fall between the SA Ultra & Micro sizes. RSC is a CCO model. Got a Comander & Full Size. Guess I need to pick up a SA Ultra & Micro, then a long slide. Mods need to close this thread then deep six it. This could get real expensive.

I've since left the 1911 sphere but have owned Colt's/Ed Brown/Wilson/Springfield/and a handful of custom builds. If I had it to do over, I'd not buy anything but off-the-shelf Springfield guns.
