I agree. Further detail will spoil it for others. And yea - my opinion is Disney went "here JJ, do what you want". And JJ took that and didn't continue anything. It appears he is just rewriting the originals. This movie was a mix of Empire and Jedi. And no character explanation or anything.

There should be a second Star Wars WITH SPOILERS thread.

Cause you're both right... Can't say anything else on the matter.

I keep seeing references to JJ Abrams for the Last Jedi. Did he have anything to do with this film?

He was the executive producer. Disney gave him control over the franchise. At least these 3 films. He didn't write the full script. Johnson did. But JJ had to approve and make changes as well.

I'm a freak. I haven't seen any of the Star Wars movies in its entirety. I have tried several times with a few of them, but just can't continue till the end. Actually, I bail about a half hour in. Started with the original. Just not interesting or entertainment to me.

When I went to the theater in 1977, it was pretty cool compared to what was available at that time. My brother and I were huge fans because of how big it was then. I can see how people who didn't experience it then don't think much of it now.

Yep. I saw the first three in the theaters. Watching them now the special effects, costumes, etc. are a bit cheesy. All of that stuff I just mentioned was pretty much state of the art in the late 70's and early 80's.

I'm not a youngin. I saw the 1st in the theater when I was a kid. It should have blown me away. Don't get me wrong, it was cool to see, but the story and concept never caught on with me.

I haven't watched anything opening night since the hype around Jurasic Park 2 came out and every theater in southbridge was showing it. And knowing that the puke in the hallways wasn't from the best sequel since T2 but because the Socialist Justice shit that helped ruin a movie that snatch defeat from the the jaws of victory. I will wait for DVD on this one too. Fuck paying Hollywood to tell me propaganda. Maybe, DL on Torrent like the last 2?

I really enjoyed it but I have simple tastes and have always LOVED Star Wars.
