That's because it was new when you went.

As if tearing down Columbine and rebuilding would keep the dysfunctionals from obsessing over it anyway. It's the "idea" of Columbine they are infatuated with. The idea is still there whether the physical building is there or not. And people who are infatuated with it will be infatuated with a new building meant to replace it.

The obsession lies somewhat (honestly in my mind solely) on the shoulders of the local and national media that cant help but remind all of us every year on the aniversary.

Was probably full of asbestos and lead paint too.

I think the STEM school approach will prove out to be the best way to deal with these events.

The place is a focal point each anniversary annual celebration in the media. They get hundreds of people at the school each year who are just curious and trespass. Really hard to deal with the signal/noise on that as we get more RSOs and talk about proactive approaches (teacher CCW).

I agree legitimate nutters/monsters are going to create their own Columbine even if the school is demo'd.

If the media could just stop blood dancing maybe this wouldn't be an issue? There is just something about Colorado and "mass shooters" that the media puts together like peanut butter and jelly usually because of Columbine. I would support anything to decrease/stop this.

Sandy Hook was demo'd and, maybe it's local bias, but you don't see this intense interest in that school. Unlike Columbine there are a lot of unanswered/odd circumstances surrounded SH and still less interest. Those people trespassing at Columbine aren't going to solve any mysteries because everything at this point is known, yet they still come.

It's one thing to be obsessed with something, it's quite another to be able to visit the place of your obsession.

I don't know. There's no good answers here.

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".
