NIL DIFFICILE VOLENTI
I am curious who your FFL is (you dont have to share) and make a suggestion it is the FFL you used. Something doesnt make sense?
I ordered a special lower from an online retailer two Mondays ago the 16th, it was shipped in 24hours and arrived at my FFL on Thursday the 19th. Friday the 20th I filled out my background. Got a call Tuesday the 24th at 5:30 the background cleared. At the time the background check list was what 11,000 to 14,000?
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles. --Jeff Cooper"
My feedback
It's not a myth, but the law. The FFL is allowed, but not required to proceed. I've never heard of any of our local FFLs proceeding with the sale during any of the panics we witnessed around here. Perhaps some do that, but quietly, and only with customers they know, but I doubt it.
I wonder if CBI categorizes by the FFL log in? Each FFL gets their turn in cue for a background.
This would not be fair as it should be date / time it was submitted into the system not by FFL holder. For example my FFL I talked about is a shooting range and they sell guns, but it is a secondary part of their business as they sell mostly high end stuff and not hit as hard on sales as the main retail gun store.
Let us say in a given week they (Shooting range) had 10 in cue and a basic gun shop retailer had 30, the delay would be longer in clearing out the cue for the Gun retailer than my shooting range.
Just a theory........... but if you think about it that would be a logical reason some are taking longer than others when submitted at similar times. Be nice to have a insider to explain it.

I would think they are processed in the order that they come in and not as a bulk process per FFL. Difference might be if some are doing it electronically as in when you enter your info on an ipad vs other means.
well 7 days on the nose and I got the call. Hope Doc faired as well.
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.
7 days or 7 business days?
They raised the background check fee saying they are raising the price so that they can hire more people and cross train. ................
