“Ha Ha Ha love it. I would have slowed down and really chugged it out on most of them”
DSB OUTDOORS:
“^^^^^ You go boy!! Me too!”
So, what you are both saying is that you would be proud to act like the asshole in that video. Committing acts of aggression against people doing you no harm at all is the sort of behavior that might one day get you a little bit of well-deserved ‘frontier justice’.
You would do well to remember that, while the cyclist cannot do anything to you at the time (except shoot you if you really endanger or piss him off enough), he or she can read your license plate. They can also catch up to you in really heavy traffic; I had to hand out a few lessons in road manners to repeat offenders when I cycle-commuted in Phoenix. A cyclist can find you, but you cannot find the cyclist; if you are enough of an ass, the cyclist can get revenge at his or her convenience.
Not all who ride are tree-hugging lefties. Today, cross-training with boxing and weights is common. This, combined with the fitness level of a long-distance cyclist and righteous anger can give a surprising edge in a fight. Some cyclists are quite well prepared to shoot back, sometimes literally. Remember that the driver’s actions will be seen by the law to be a contributing factor if it comes to a fight, ruling out the typically out-of-shape rude driver’s resort to lawful deadly force. Our hypothetical rude driver (if armed) would be forced to choose between jail time or a good beating. Something to think about when tempted to be rude while driving…
Ronin13:
The law currently requires ANY slow-moving vehicle to pull off the road when too many other vehicles are backed up behind it - bicycles are vehicles according to Colorado Revised Statutes and are definitely subject to that law.
Let's leave traffic enforcement to the traffic cops - perhaps if they (the police) could be persuaded to be more concerned about public safety than ticket revenue, a few more citations could be handed out to errant cyclists. Your 'bigger boat' analogy, if applied by the 'bigger boat' against a cyclist would result in vehicular manslaughter charges against the driver. In a crowded traffic situation, there would be no shortage of witnesses.
