And.... just got the email from Brownells- my new KKM barrel and HD springs are on the way now. With a little luck, maybe they'll show Saturday so I'll have them in time for the range Sunday morning!!

Got the new match barrel today! It's in the gun so we'll see how it shoots tomorrow morning.
One thing that separates the M&Ps from Glocks is their grip angel.
M&Ps match the same grip angle as 1911s. Glocks do not.
Not sure if it's already been stated but Colorado State Patrol carry the M&P 40.
Longbaugh: Who are you?
Sarno: I'm the guy you might meet one night. When you wake up with a pillow over your head. And the only thing you'll hear is a little pop.
Longbaugh: You're a bag man.
I carry a sidearm for a living. A company I worked for issued me an M&P 40 and sent me to two gun schools over a three week period. When I got home from those schools I sold my 1911 and bought a brand new M&P9. I have never looked back.
Broadsword
1000 rounds through my m&p 9 without any issues. I shoot everything from federal to wwb and lead reloads. I installed the apex kit and this thing has a better trigger than some 1911's. For the money, you cant beat the m&p
Ok, question: M&P compact model, best to choose a model with or without the thumb safety?
My M&P 40C doesn't have a thumb safety, but that's how I like it. If you prefer thumb safeties on this kind of firearm, I say go for it, but for me personally I don't see a need for it with this particular pistol.
I removed the thumb safety from my M&P, only took a few minutes. You only have to knock out one roll pin; the armorer's tool in the grip of the pistol works perfect for this.
If you email S&W and ask them for the little plugs to fill in the holes that are left when you remove the safety, they will mail them to you for free.
