That was our biggest draw back... It cost me about $15 a day in veggies. I didn't really juice fruit. That was just for me, the wife spent whatever on herself... didn't keep track of her. So, ya, that is the draw back, it's pricy.

I wonder the difference between say, juicing, and just blending (ie making smoothies).

You will find with juicing, that you will feel the best you have ever felt. I've never heard anyone say anything less. It doesn't matter what you work (one friend is a Derek Hand), this works well as your body is at peak performance, literally. How can anyone who knows what they are talking about say that juicing which floods your body with everything that it needs, is unhealthy? I will say that if you don't have stored fat (which contains all the energy it needs), then a straight juice diet is a bad idea. However, if you have lots of weight, you have nothing to lose, and there is absolute nothing out there stated by anyone but ignorant skeptics that can make a legitimate claim that juicing is bad, and for overweight people, bad for long stretches. Fat *has all the calories your body needs, it also contains vitamins, and nutrients, not all, but a lot. And as I stated earlier, the ones that it doesn't contain, you can get from veggies, and spirulina, and bee pollen as an additive to your juice (B12 & protein).

The thing about juicing is that it breaks the plant down more. Makes it a lot easier for your body to break down the good stuff. Juicing is about efficiency when it comes down to it. Also, you get a full dose of fiber that your body needs too, it's just not in massive things that you need to chew up, but it's still there. You get a lot more vitamins and nutrients with juice because one cup of straight juice, has a lot more than one cup of blended veggies. One cup to one cup of each, and you will get about three times or more from the cup with juice because you're not throwing in all of the fiberous stuff your body isn't going to break down or absorb anyway.

You can take the "leftovers" that juicing will leave, and season it and put it in your dehydrator, make chips & stuff....

If you do the juice thing right, you should feel almost crappy for the first two or three days as your body detoxes. You will shit a lot also, liquid shit.... it all goes away though, and you feel better than you have ever felt before.

    K, gota go now....

Sounds like you should be able to still be active with this diet then. My biggest concern would be having energy to run/jog/swim on the occasions that I actually do so. Sounds like all the stuff you need to run your body is present though.

I'm 6'3 295 right now. My lightest with exercise and eating paleo is 263 over the last 8 years. I'm on board with using a 60 day juice fast to reset, cut a good majority of the weight I need to lose and build back in healthy habits.

How do you guys handle work lunches? I'm assuming the juice does well in a fridge.

Um, ya. You can be very active. Think about it... You are giving your body more than it can ever need (as far as nutrition goes). As long as you have the calories on you (fat), you can do whatever you wanted. I will guarantee that everyone on this forum would get something out of juicing. Of course, till they try it, or have someone extremely close to them do it so they could see first hand how it affects them, it's hard to believe. Stuving, I think you will actually do this, watch "The Gerson Method". It's really boring, I warn you, but has useful information that I think you would like.

I juiced a lot at one time, and stored what I didn't drink in air tight containers. You pour the juice in whichever container you use (you can use multiple containers to fit your lifestyle), pour it up to the lid, as close as you can, and seal it. The taste will last for about 10 hours, after that even in an air tight container, it starts reacting to the air that is already inside the juice from the extruding/pouring, and will taste like it is going bad. The enzymes react to the air (how an apple goes brown after being bitten), and to each other the moment the vegetable gets juiced and poured out of the machine. Many people will say that juice enzymes (which are an important part of this) go bad after several minutes of being extruded. This is not true, and there is no scientific fact to this. I also personally (researched this topic a lot before subjecting my wife and I to this) contacted many bio-tech companies, many that deal specifically with enzymes, and every one said that there was no truth to what people were saying about enzymes. < Just wanted to let some know about the BS you will find on the internets....
