I wasn't too concerned about it and then someone brought it up because he had been in a hurricane evacuation in Houston, said it could take 6x longer than normal to travel, and in Wyoming the authorities are very concerned. I have heard that they are having meetings with the locals telling them to gas up and have plenty of supplies. I don't think its going to turn into mad max, but there are concerns.

If you look online you can find references to the logistic concerns. Here are some too:

These also have facebook pages which i didn't copy because many of you don't use social media.

I gotta be at work, but I'll be out there with my welder helmet on just like in '89 or whenever that was for us here.

It's total bullshit that those little hotels up there in WY took reservations well in advance (like a year), ....but then realized why they had been made, and then butt jacked everyone that already had them.

    Fukkers.

Some are taking it really seriously:

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Gov. Kate Brown is authorizing the Oregon National Guard to deploy soldiers to help deal with an influx of tourists during next month's total solar eclipse.

Oregon Public Broadcasting reports that the National Guard will stage six aircraft and about 150 soldiers and airmen ahead of the Aug. 21 celestial event.

Some airlines are getting into the game, too, offering special "eclipse flights" along the path.

I'm planning on driving north to check it out, leaving that Sunday but unsure of where I'm headed at this time. I just know that I won't be on i25 or headed towards Casper as it's going to be a mess.

I will be in Cheyenne staring at it.

If anyone's passing though around 2ish, let me know and we can grab a pint.

Down the road, east of there, Bayard.

If 1/2 the people who left Scottsbluff, go back it would shut down 76, 80 & 71 for a month.

see, this is what worries me. I wanted to go, it's not far

but most of these towns in Wyoming are TINY. Even a small upsurge in weekend traffic buries them

and a bunch of Denver assholes coming for the day?

    no bathrooms, food, fuel, etc.

ehhhh, i can do without seeing with 5 million of my closest friends. Plus everyone is going to leave afterwards right at noon and just bury I-25
